Thank you also. My wife and I lived in Geelong between 1987-88. We are from the US, still living in the US. Our older son was born there. How things have changed! I remember trying out my new auto-focus 35mm film camera at the harbor. I could barely recognize the harbor now. One of the best times in our life living is a small town (at that time) Thanks again

Thankyou for the feature on ny hometown. Geelong has always been seen as second to melbourne but it is a great place to live, it has most of the advantages of melbourne but the advantage of still having the community feel. We also have the best aussie rules team in the country😊😊😊

@@JohnSmith-ho8up I live in Puerto Rico now. In general I'd never live in Australia again, to me it's an expensive over regulated nanny state .... but as for Geelong? well sometimes you were just never meant to be in a place you always resented and hated it from your earliest memories and despised small minded people.....I had some of the best times of my life in Geelong to but reality is I just never wanted to be there and was happy to never see it again.

The city has potential... The waterfront is really nice, quite stunning and unique for anywhere in Australia... The arts and civic area is also quite nice and the laneway of bars and cafes that runs from it has a very cool vibe. Other than a few heritage buildings scattered throughout, the rest of the city centre isn't particularly that attractive or interesting and seems to lack people/ liveliness or much character. Having a big bulky Westfield there doesn't help. If more well designed low to mid rise level apartments filled the city along with more greenery and improved side walks this could improve Geelong I think.

Lovin' the feature of my hometown. Showing of GMHBA stadium at the start and the semi-circle swimming prominade on the next slide.
I will say that our town is excellent but we do lack the tourism elements really. Our CBD is a bit woefully underprepared for actual tourism i feel and we are still very much a residential city compared to melbourne.

Great stuff. So sick of Australian tourism being dominated by "Oooh look, Opera House and harbour bridge", then "but look, we've got coffee and above average graffiti', and 'wow, a beach on a river', and so on. Refreshing to see somewhere else being given a go; and how it comes up really well. Never been to Geelong, but I will now.

Since my last visit 14 years ago the growth of the suburbs was really noticeable. I wonder if in another 14 years the urban sprawl will stretch all the way to Torquay.
