I just received my limited edition and this is so much better than advertised. I encourage you to play it and see it up close. It’s got some wonderful shots that are tremendously creative. It’s really fantastic.
Looks like a fun pinball with some great aesthetics! I like the Sentinel head although I wish it would eat the ball! Also to incorporate more of Days of Future Past like you said would be great since that's my favorite X-Men storyline!
Yeah I'm really hoping to see the Days Of Future Past story get more filled in and tied in with the general gameplay, should make for a great package once the code gets updated further.
I , like many, was disappointed with the music, callouts and some of the animation. Had a premium preordered but going with an Alien Ellen Edition instead as I feel it has more to offer and the Pinball Brothers finally have the game dialed in. I’ll probably get a pro one of these second hand down the road as I agree that the Sentinel interaction isn’t game changing with pro Vs premium.
Thanks for another great review and for the shoutout. I believe it’s on .83 code and it’s still a lot of fun to play. I’m with you on the captive ball feature, I think we’ll see more of it with future updates. Did you notice how smooth and shiny the playfield is? Something is different about it, it doesn’t look like any of my other Sterns. -Brandon Perfect Tilt Pinball
I really enjoyed the game, even with it's basic coding status. I've got high hopes they can turn it into something special like they did with Bond, because X-Men is a lot of fun to shoot.
That place looks like a place id live at! Love the machine, might be my next pin i own if they fix the music and some of the animations, Also always loved Gambit :)
Perfect tilt is amazing. Im from KC and go to branson every year for a family reunion. I usually hit up arcade 1984 1 day while im down there. But because of your recommendation we headed up to Springfield for a day just for perfect tilt. Awesome place. We'll be back there every year from here on out. And ill sneak off for an extra day at 1984.
1984 in Branson is a great place, but when it comes to pinball machines Perfect Tilt Pinball is hands down the best place in the area to come play. Brandon has put so much love into the place, it's a great spot.
Man that local joint by you is amazing! Glad to hear your opinion, I wasn't crazy about Foo Fighters so been curious what his second game would be like.
I would be cool to see Stern do something with DC Comics again, but I understand since they have such a good relationship with Marvel why they've produced as much as they have for that brand.
Ive been using a recroommasters 2 player panel in my Golden tee fore cabinet for years. Awesome panel! Solid as a tank, trackball still going strong modded for pga tour 2k3
I agree that the pin itself looks great, the art blades, the playfield and the backglass look stellar. Zombie is one of the best! However, those animations... cringe! I've seen better animations in ebaums world videos from '03. With what can be done now in the videogame world, it makes no sense that a company like Stern can't have some half decent animations.
As a comic book artist this was a tough FOMO on announcement day- I currently own AIQ from a few years back and this feels very similar - Great review- Wafflin' between this and Godzilla fer my 25' add
@cooltoy Yeah, for the price and included features, I really think it's the best deal. The sentinel hands and fingers, moving sentinel head, and Beasts lab is cool but I just don't see $2700 worth of fun there. Would rather save that money and grab another cheaper game .. lol
Visually it looks really good. As a big X-Men fan, it makes me sad to hear about the Gambit voice. Regardless, I'll have to check out that arcade next time I'm in Springfield
That’s a beast of an arcade. I’m going to have to check it out my next visit to MO. My XMLE will be delivered this coming week, can’t wait to add it to my collection. It’s so packed.
My thoughts differ in some ways from yours. I didn't think the center post helped very much at all. In my plays a lot of time the ball hit the center and then diverted down the drain. There is almost an assault on the bottom 1/3rd of the playfield that was a bit tiring to me. Innovative, yes, and good to see creativity down there, but too much happening in that bottom third. Also the danger room is a short experience, similar to the upper playfield on Jaws. It hogs up real estate in an unusual place for creative reasons, yes, but jury is out -- I need more plays -- to see if something else should have happened there. Like you, I liked the middle section of the playfield, the upper third seemed crammed a bit and I lost the ball position up there more than once or twice. We agree on the code. I wish they would just not release games until they are at 1.0 or as close to 1.0, but Stern seems hellbent on coming out with a certain number of new machines every year vs. coming out with fewer, more completed games. Maybe they'll switch to the latter strategy in the future.
@@cooltoy the contrast in prices isn’t just due to animations though. Some of those X-men sequences are repetitive and just a lack of effort at this point of the code.
I like stadium lightning to brighten up playfields, but there is definitely a fine line when adjusting their settings because they can easily washout a playfield like you said and they become more of a distraction than a help.
When I first set up the game, the playfield was pretty dark, as is our arcade, so I tossed a set in for GI. It looks much better in person and I didn’t hook up a flasher, so only the game would add the effects.
I have no doubt that the code will be fleshed out soon enough. Stern has always been solid with capping game code off within a year. Where as JJP has taken several years in some instances, which is alarming.
@@LordCyler I’m not sure if you’re aware but the literal definition for the word animation is: the art of making still images appear to move. You can say that you didn’t like the animation in this game and that’s fine. But your statement above is simply factually incorrect.
