    Analog FPV vs. digital FPV is like vinyl vs. CD. (Analog FPV has its own unique charm, and price is a big factor.) The difference is that there are several different digital FPV formats, and most of them are "closed," so there isn’t much competition or price pressure. The open formats aren't quite there yet, and as a result, it will take a while before digital becomes interesting for the masses.

    I think the whole purpose of analog today is it's cheaper no. 1 and the 2nd thing is there's no lag compared to DJI. I've never tried analog but being a gamer I can tell that there is horrible lag on DJI. Doesn't respond when I need it to respond when I need hyper precise movement

    So in ELRS AND TBS you can change the channel on your radio. So when you start up your quad it will change the frequency on the VTX to match your goggles. I just like that any analog vtx will work with any analog goggle. Its cheap and such a budget way to get into the hobby

    Ive been flying analog for 3 years and inbetween I switched to walksnail for 1 and a half year and back again because the low analog latency and consistent frametime just makes me feel so much more connected to my quad.
    I also perfected my analog setup now and I can fly behind 10 trees 1km away from me and still freestyle there so analog can still be very good.
    I'm going to try O3 in a few months tho and it will most likely blow my mind.
    The good thing about analog in my opinion is the price and latency and also that it is allowed at races unlike walksnail and dji

      While latency is important, my biggest issue with digital on whoops (particularly WS) is that the kit is all super fragile. I've gone thru so many VTX Lite boards and MIP cables. Not even crashes (well some crashes) but even landing in some dewy grass will short out a WS board.

    • @MrDiMaggio5
      @MrDiMaggio5 Месяц назад

      @@wva5089 this is the funny thing about fpv I enjoy, folks have different experiences with different kit, hence different opinions. While HDZ does not have image quality of WS IMO, HDZ _seems_ more durable. I broke 1 thread of a mip cable on HDZ that was totally my fault but besides that it’s been solid for me and the new 4 wire cameras have been great. I just sent my Goggles X back to China/Caddx because the AV in port randomly stopped working. I dunno, maybe I just got a little better at flying and crashing more gracefully 😂.

    Interested in hearing your opnion on HDzero since you're a walksnail dude and have now tried analog. In particular on micros - 2inch 1s is my go to, I dont like walking far to get my drone, and I fly mostly around outside my house which is tight. I also fly a racing style.. so fast and not much flippy shtuff. I believe even a walksnail 1s on a 2inch will be vastly sub-performing to my analog setup - which isnt super light but light enough at about 35 grams dry (with a buzzer because its so easy to lose). Anyway, interested in hearing how you feel about hdzero

    I started with analog using Fatshark Dominator v3. My progress was very slow. I always crashed since I had a hard time seeing what's in the way. When I improved flying, I tried flying around my property. My fear came back. It's because when vtx signal is blocked by my house, the signal was really bad. All went away when I switched to digital specifically DJI fpv goggles. Ive flown in places where there are so many concrete and never had issues. I think analog will suffer in those places. So my conclusion is: if just flying in open areas where there is not much obstacles, analog is perfect. Nice video!

    Im saving up for digital but i liked analog for the cheap pricepoint. 10s of dollars for vtxs and less than 100 for goggles is a good way for a budget look into the hobby. Digital seems to have surpassed analog in nearly all aspects except latency so its definitely the future

  • @0Ciju0

    Im the opposite. I get motion sickness going to DJI digital due to the x10-x20 latency. It may not sound like much, but 50ms latency, while going 160km/hr is roughly 1.5 meter PER SECOND DELAY. Thats wild.

    I went from analog to DJI 03 Air Unit and Goggles Integra this year. The difference was life changing. I'll never go back. I believe analog still has a place in FPV, mainly because of price, but for me, digital is the only way forward. I flew analog for about 8 years before going digital. But every time I switch back from analog to my DJI O3 I get that "Woah" feeling... but like you said analog is cheap and light so I've had a lot of fun just bashing it around without worrying about it costing $200 to replace the VTX

I like walksnail and am pretty heavily invested in it as well, however I've been having a range of issues with different Caddx products lately and have gone back to flying more analog. so many racers still use analog, analog has its place, the big problem is hdzero is to expensive for what you get if the price and availability was better yes time to totally switch but thats not here yet but open ipc might be the solution in the future

      The cheaper digital gets the harder it’s going to be for Analog to compete. Analog will always have its place though it seems

    digital = Expensive, Easy, Insane image, Decent lag. Analog = cheaper, more complex, badish image, cheaper repairs, low ms, good for racing

    All my quads are analog included the nazgul but yeah... the insane amount of money that go for a pair of analog goggles is simply STUPID. It's analog, there's no point charging this much.
    Other than that, I do enjoy flying analog tinywhoops as they're actually a fun thing to do.

    You need to try an analog Discus lol or hdzero or o3 It's all I fly but Analog is just on rails it's all about premium analog. see too many ppl get crap analog but to me premium analog kills digital cause it's locked in and can be bashed to crap without worrying about a 300$ vts cam system

    Analog Rules

  • @KainniaK
    @KainniaK Месяц назад

    When you fly normal RC you see and hear your airplane or helicopter and it's awesome. When you fly FPV you normally don't have hearing as in 99% of the times they only transmit video and not sound so as soon as you fly away from yourself you only have video. So a 100% of your fpv enjoyment is video ... but if you can't see shit ... then how can you enjoy anything?
    I fly analog untill I accidenly cut the wire of a kite that was in the air with my 5 inch. I looked at the DVR footage and at no point could I see the kite, the wire or even the little kid on the ground flying it. I boug that poor kid a new kite and that was the last time I flew analog.
    Even for racing, hdzero offers lower latency then the best analog camera system. These cameras are still digital and they do have latency.
    So then what is left for analog? Only tinywhoops. Analog systems are simply lighter and when flying a tinywhoop every gram matter. A 20g tinywhoop and you can shave of 2 grams? That's 10% that's a HUGE weight safe.

    Analog has damn good video if you have good components. But, if you are not racing, there is really no point of going with analog. I love my HDZero quad, don't get me wrong, but full sending a analog quad is easier on the wallet then a HD quad.

    Turn the goggles on and everything just works. Loool thats not how dji works. I tried to switch to dji and because of "log in here and here and there.... And by the way we spy on u for the government" i went with walksnail which has its place but u cant beat a 20€ cam and 20€ vtx setup.
    Also not every analog goggle costs 600 bucks. U can get really good goggles from eachine and skyzone for around 200 or some used fatshark hd's for around 150... that issue is non existant in my opinion.
    I fly HDz, walksnail and analog and each system has its place with walksnail being the alround king with the new low latency mode on the nano vtx; hdz being the latency king for racers and the new whoop boards are awesome and good old analog as the price/performance king.

    Analogue is great for a beginner.. It’s far cheaper than digital so great if wanting to try FPV & not wanting to spend a fortune or on a budget.. Your just being a snob as from a digital background… I suppose it’s a downgrade.. You’re not being an impartial reviewer… I have DJI but still love ripping with my FatSharks & Emax Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle 😀👍 .. Also regarding the screen DVR .. that’s really only for recording if wanting to keep your stats or find your drone if crashes .. Most put a quality camera for recording footage .. my TinyHawk is small but can still carry a Insta Go or Runcam Thumb camera

    Analog is able to record and the vtx you choose has everything to do with clear image. Mine looks better then hdzero. But I have fat shark goggles and I keep my quad in perfect condition. Zeus vtx 800mw. Long range is clear. Get your facts straight before you make a bold statement like you are

    Imma be honest, your analog video looks ass. I exclusively fly analog and trust me, you can get it to be a lot better than this. First off, you saved money on the module, and i hate to say it but a better module makes a hell of a difference. The only two that actually look good in my mind are the TBS one and the Rapid Fire, the Speedy Bee one does not look as clean in my experience.
    Secondly, im not shure what vtx that pre-built you flew uses, but using a decent vtx also significantly increases the clarity of the video. I like to run a Rush VTX, but on smaller quads i use the TBS nano, and it gets pretty clean video. But i have another observation, your video seemed to be very bad on throttle punches, does this build have a caparcitor? If not, that would definetly clean the video up a bit, or even adding an aditional bec or filter for the vtx to give it cleaner power could be a solution.
    I honestly understand why you hated your video feed, it looks horrible. But i can promise you, analog can get way better than that. it just takes a bit of tinkering and sometimes expensive gear.
    I have tried walksnail and dji before, i will probably at some point upgrade to walksnail, but analog just has a charme to it. To me it feels nostalgic, and especially when flying whoops through the house, i just prefer the feel of analog (also low wright).

    • @TyDoesTech
      @TyDoesTech  Месяц назад

      Yea I’m sure there was a lot I could’ve done to get better video in my end. I might play with it a bit more. It definitely has a nostalgic feel to it for sure…kind of heart warming tbh

      I don't know why those modern analog drone cameras show so crappy video, and some other bloggers still say like it's the best cams. I saw some 10 years old FPV analog videos from airplanes with much much nicer quality and more clear picture. Sure analog can be much better than what modern quads show. Old days of FPV are golden, my 100 dollars stuff in 2013 was showing better picture haha.
