The typical service life of glowing wool and neon embers is 5 years. You should refer to your equipment owner's manual for additional recommended maintenance schedules for your model.

How long do the embers last?

Hi there! Thank you for this informative video. I have a new ventless outdoor propane fireplace in my courtyard/atrium. It currently only has log inserts and I want to make it look (and even sound) more realistic (I don't like the glass rocks that came with the insert). I obviously want to be careful not to block any of the holes where the gas flows through. I love the way your fireplace is set up with the gravel lava rocks in the front. What is the material you're using behind the rocks? Do you think these Neon embers metallic threads would be safe in a ventless propane fireplace? Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

Thank you for your interest in our Enhance A Fire products and your kind words.
The gray rocks are called "Small Urban Rocks" and are available for purchase at Amazon www.amazon.com/Enhance-Fire-Luxury-Special-Media/dp/B01DWQHV1E/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=enhance+a+fire+urban+rocks&qid=1618842697&sr=8-2
The material behind the rocks is glowing wool with our Neon Embers. You can order these individually or as kit: www.amazon.com/Enhance-Fire-Glowing-Package-Fireplaces/dp/B088HG49PD?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
The packaging states that this product should not be used on vent-free burner units, but are safe for use in outdoor vent-free burners. To get the glowing effect, wool and Neon Embers must be exposed to direct flames. Please send a photo of your fireplace to info@enhanceafire.com and we can make some recommendations on how to add some realism to your fireplace.

What metal are these wires? Why do you need to wear gloves?

    • @enhanceafire6528

The fine metal wires can cause minor surface cuts on your hands and fingers (similar to a paper cut). That is why we recommend wearing gloves to protect your hands.

It’s a cool effect, but not natural looking. I don’t remember seeing burning threads in a wood fire.
