Plummer was putting holes in the floor, hitting at near open nets and had like 3 head shots. She was an absolute spark plug off the bench this match!!
I think we’ll see Plummer in the starting lineup more often moving forward. It’s very clear that we need a terminal outside on the court and as good of a game as cook had she isn’t very effective in attack that often (recently at least)
@Astro-hn3lyNope, that's not going to happen with the new fivb naturalization rule. Besides, USA has a lot of tall and talented opposite players still playing in the NCAA. In the likes of Kendal Kipp and Kennedy Martin who are both 6'6.
I agree but cooks passing and defense is much needed. Plummer's passing and defense has much to be improve
Italy is not the same without Paola Egonu. Antrepova is no Egonu.

Perdi contro una delle squadre più forti del mondo e questi squallidi individui si scatenano, soprattutto i brasiliani, che tra l'altro, stanno andando malissimo. Come godono quando perde l'Italia. Credo che nessun italiano perda del tempo per andare a prenderli per il culo dopo la sconfitta.

Meskipun Italia menang di set ke 2 tapi tetap tidak bisa mengalahkan USA. Karena rotasi dan kemampuan pemain USA sama bagusnya. Penampilan luar biasa selalu ditunjukkan Jordan Thompson. Selamat buat USA dan Italia harus bersaing ketat dengan Polandia dan Jerman.

Turquía y China viene fuertes también, China no cuenta actualmente con zhu Ting que es su principal atacante, pero aún así es un equipo completo, y Turquía con Vargas vienen muy fuerte, los otros juegos olímpico sin ella hicieron una buena actuación, pero ahora con Vargas tienen muchas posibilidades

She's being ignored by their coach. Since they have now acquired Antropova, a younger (20y/o) and taller (6'7 1/2) russian player who is now a naturalized Italian citizen.
Rumor has it there was a fight between Egonu and the coach.
Antropova unfortunately is not as good as her.

Plummer has to improve her floor defense because she is already deadly in offense plus she has the height. I love kelsey but Plummer over Kelsey this time. Larson is very reliable so that other position is locked in for her. The MB position is loaded. Ogbugo is ❤. Washington probably will make it. Oneal, Butler, Retke must slug it out for the remaining spots. Libero, I prefer Justine's steadiness. She may not be as explosive as the other libero but she gel so well with the rest of the team. Carlini's setting needs improvement, I like her though. This is already a solid line up. Let's see how they are going to fare against Serbia, Turkiye, Poland and China.
Larson is not locked lol. Her performance last night was a proof. Cook was doing well so far.
@@elprofessor3397 nope. I beg to disagree. Larson and Cook have the spots in the bag. Their Tokyo Olympic experience and their leadership skills are the deciding factors. Larson defense is superb. That's what they are missing since Bartsch-Hackley and Larson stopped playing for USA and look at how they are now. Plummer, Franti, Bajema, Lanier and Skinner must slug it out for the next two spots. Knowing Coach Kiraly, he prefers players that are all around and he has a habit of favoritism/familiarity with his system. Larson's leadership and other intangibles are crucial to the team. SO NO LOL. She's a defending Olympic MVP for nothing. The younger players are strong and quick but not as efficient as Larson (for now). And you have to take into consideration Larson stopped playing for the team for many months but she'll get there come Paris Olympics.

USA have better squad depth than Italy. That was the difference. There were a couple of moments where Lubian could have easily blocked Plummer if she had moved just a little faster. Italy did well to win that second set, but USA has too many options on and off the bench. Great to see Jordan Larson come back to this team. I thought she retired from playing for the national team already. Forza Italia! The battle has just begun. Winning the next match is VERY important!! 💙
when Mazzanti leaves the best scorer and MVP of the Champioship league and who is also on top of her game, EGONU, what do you expect. Andropova will be a great player but she is still young and inexperience. Mazzanti as a coach should have been able to include EGONU into the line up
@alishalesly1847 agree Coach Kiraly almost never puts the best players on the court and only in really big games ie world championships and Olympics. He has so many top players to choose from he has to be sure each player is at the top of their game to place them on the final national team for the Olympics. Turkey is the odds to win Olympic gold, but USA will be there as well

i don't think so, She's effective at both position if the setter give her the good set. As you can see in this match, Carlini didn't play well, She set the ball really difficult for her teammate especially for the Middle Blocker. We need a good and creative setter to against the Top teams such as Turkey.
My eyes are tired already after watching china and Dutch. What I said above is just based on what is seen in the highlights. Thanks for the reply.

I think USA is giving Rettke a lot of court time since she’s the younger one and setting her up on this high level intensity game. Only 14 team roster will be sent to Paris 2024 but haven’t seen a lot of Haley Washington.
They will definitely send the 3 of them to tokyo, in fact they might send a 4th but we will see if they prioritize an extra libero or outside. I believe they can send more people than they were able to last olypics?
Oneal and Butler are good MB's too. Both athletic and agile.
At the moment volleyball needs very tall and strong players.
Washington is a great centre, but at the moment Retke makes up for it in blocking.
And she needs to rest and be used at the right time.
I think coach Kiraly is really watching to see Retkes progress, as she has height to make a decision on the top 12 players hes taking to the Olympics
Italy cannot function properly without Egonu's aid inside the court..... Such a waste to disregard the potential of Paula Egonu... She deserves more

What's going on in Italian volleyball association?
It was hard for squadra on Eurovolley, they lost that bronze medal match with 0:3 to Holland and they had Egonu in team (but, surprisingly, mostly on bench). Here they arrived without her.
What do David and team expect, that the rest of the girls will suddenly play better then few weeks ago?

The absence of Paola Egonu hits so different and if the powerful spikes of Egonu together with Antropova will be seeing this Olympic Qualifying Tournament maybe this is the massive weapon of Team Italy but they take for granted Egonu's contribution why now Italy one of the top volleyball team in the world what a waste and disappointment 😥

Non dimentichiamo che per infortuni e scelte tecniche le atlete che sono fuori sono nettamente più forti delle attuali titolari. I titoli si vincono con le campionesse non con gli allenatori. Al momento fuori ci sono Orro, Fahr, De Gennaro, Chirichella, Bosetti ed Egonu. Una squadra, quella delle escluse, che a Parigi lotterebbe sicuramente per una medaglia.

@@luigipascolo1180 E mica sono scelte tecniche. Una scelta tecnica è quando scegli una al posto di un'altra perché la ritieni migliore o più utile per il gioco della squadra.
Queste sono scelte che di tecnico non hanno nulla, sono scelte gestionali/personali, cioè tutto il contrario di quello che un allenatore è pagato per fare.

A questo livello la differenza la fanno i campioni. Noi ne abbiamo lasciate almeno due a casa forse le migliori o tra le migliori al mondo nel proprio ruolo. Inutile parlarne a questo punto perché senza il cambio di guida tecnica noi non vedremo mai il vero valore della squadra femminile di volley

Lasciamo a casa l'unica schiacciatrice valida in ricezione e ci portiamo Degradi, quando abbiamo problemi atavici, che ormai tutti conoscono, in quel fondamentale.
Lasciamo a casa una centrale esperta, anche se indubbiamente non ha giocato una stagione memorabile in campionato, per andare all'Europeo con tre centrali e per portare al pre-olimpico Linda Nwakalor che o indossa la maglia da libero o le fa fare la spettatrice non pagante e il campo non lo vede nemmeno dipinto.
A saperlo, gli avrei chiesto di portare, come quarta centrale, mia cugina che non gioca a pallavolo ma desidererebbe tanto assistere a una partita da bordo campo.

Non ha avuto le palle di lasciare a casa anche Egonu ma l'ha umiliata relegandola in panchina. Mi chiedo quale allenatore al mondo lascerebbe Egonu in panchina ? Solo la primadonna alla guida della nazionale. Un tecnico di terza fascia con tanta ma tanta fortuna
@@luigipascolo1180 Egonu non era stata fatta fuori solo perché lui non sapeva quando esattamente Antropova sarebbe stata disponibile e, ovviamente, non poteva poi lasciarla a casa una settimana prima dell'inizio dell'europeo quando ha avuto la sicurezza di poter disporre di Antropova; sarebbe stata una cosa troppo sfacciata e non se l'è sentita, mettendo quindi la classica 'toppa peggiore del buco'.
L'avrebbe tagliata alle convocazioni per questo pre olimpico e lei, che è evidentemente abbastanza più scaltra di tantissimi tifosi ottusi, ha capito perfettamente e ha voluto giocare d'anticipo.
Ha fatto non bene ma benissimo.
