Ok so I have a question and would appreciate your kind thoughts and suggestions. I have a friendship that has lasted for 48 years. I am soon to turn 71 in my girlfriend soon to turn 70. We’ve been through deaths and divorces and marriages and almost everything you can think of together. We live about 45 minutes apart but in terms of closeness, I feel that we are even further apart than that. my birthday is November 1 and my girlfriend has invited me to meet her for lunch in a few weeks ago. She called me as she regularly does when she’s driving home from work .she works part time but she has a very long commute so it’s a time when she catches up on her phone calls. So she called me, and after a moment or two of light talk, she proceeded to tell me how angry she was with me about something I had recently shared with her. That was a conversation I had had with my therapist where I was telling my therapist that a reflection on my life nobody has been there for me, and what I was referring to was that my father, my mother, my brother, and his wife haven’t been there for me in my earlier years I lost my father when I was 16 and my mother was emotionally not available for me And my brother was eight years older so he left home and got married and continued with his life and rarely came back to visit me or my mother except on Christmas or things like that .consequently it was just something I was sharing with my girlfriend, and apparently she took that personally, and inserted herself into the sentiment that I was expressing as if I was including her in that statement, which I was not of all my friends she has been there for me. The most helped me move giving me shelter when I had a falling out with my husband and countless other times over 48 years and vice versa now I am a Scorpio sun, Sagittarius rising and Taurus moon .don’t know her time of birth other than she’s a Gemini sun .she’s super smart, very intelligent, very intellectual And that’s a great thing and she is a medical PA so she’s great with medical advice but I don’t really know or understand how she processes her feelings. Sometimes I feel like she doesn’t have feelings she doesn’t seem to express feelings or emotions and I’m all about expressing my feelings and emotions verbally because that’s actually how I process them often so I’m anticipating lunch coming up in another week to celebrate my birthday and I’m concerned because I’m feeling a need to address the status of our friendship when I get hit with such anger about how angry she was at me and how the more she thought about what I had shared with her the more pissed off she was when I hear anger like that it really hurts me And in fact, I told her that I felt that she was taking what I had shared with her out of context, and that I also told her that I didn’t think I didn’t feel like I’m responsible for her feelings and I apologized to her if I caused her to feel Hurt by what I had said, but I reminded her that I wasn’t talking about her I wasn’t including her I was talking about my close family members not being there for me so I’d like to ask you guys to lend your suggestions and thoughts based on my astrology and all I know is her Gemini son I feel like if I bring this up in anyway shape or form she’s pretty much just gonna push it back down deny it she just doesn’t like to discuss feelings at all and yeah, I have a real need to either move forward with this relationship and find new things to bond together over or find new things to create together That we can share because as we’ve gotten older and live further apart from each other, that’s quite a challenge to do these days on the other hand my husband who I live a part from for the past three years has recently been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, and I know that my girlfriend wants to be there for me in a medical way to advise me as we get down to Him. You know his last months are there right now he’s doing well and he may live for another year or two I don’t know we don’t know but if you were me, would you address your friendship with her I just kind of want to say to her that I’d like to think about reframing our friendship maybe coming up with things that we could do together because I just feel very distant from her and I haven’t felt close to her and in a long time and I also feel that she’s been very critical and judgmental of me and in her conversations with me . What can you share with me. Thanks so much.
