I'm an old f#ck,a veteran of over 100 Dead shows. I am always on the hunt for new music. Over a dozen years ago I had the beautiful luck to run into Bright Eyes and Conor. He and his music has never left me and never will. Love this guy!
I remember the day this came out like it was yesterday. Conor has been there through so much of my life
One of my favorite songwriters. Now I want cheeseballs.
Fine. I'll pre order your album even tho I'm broke. I was half hoping this wouldn't be that good so I could save my money
this guy is my Dylan #Salutations
Let Dylan be your Dylan. Let Conor just be Conor.
Shawn Grindle yeah you are right what I mean is his thoughts are really deep and life changing which you observe in a day's life but you ignore them usually
RIGHT
You would have to be fucktarded to not recognize a classic song that is new
These are lyrics beyond great
I LOVED IT WAY TOO MUCH! Sylvia Plath's ghost really makes you do crazy shit
I love the video! Nice haircut back in 2007! Very accurate! You've been my favorite songwriter since I was in 13 years old in 2005. All of your albums spoke to me in ways that helped me through each phase of my life. I've been struggling with my mental health post college and quite a few hospital visits trying to relearn who I am after feeling so empty and lost. Ruminations was almost TOO spot on for me. Had a few good cathartic cries listening to it. I hope you are well from the bottom of my heart. I used to love you once... and I still do. Your music is fantastic. 🎶 Thank you.
🖤
DNSMS 💔🎶❤️✌🏻🙂
Rachel, you sound like you were/are going through a rough time. You don't need to "learn who you are", especially at such a young age. Who you are will change over the years. Just know that you're not going through anything a million other people haven't been through. Literally. There are billions on this planet. Be true to your own nature, it's yours and unique. Know that everything is impermanent. Be kind to yourself, try to use an inner dialog that reflects love and compassion, especially towards yourself. Take it one moment at a time. That's all any of us really have.
DAVIb Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I really needed this reminder today. 💜
holy hell loved this vid! young conor chillin with sylvia plath's ghost and conor's face on the cover of playboy 😂👍🏼
Dying is an art, like everything else. I do it exceptionally well. I do it so it feels like hell. I do it so it feels real. I guess you could say I've a call.
What an awesome throwback to Dylan and the popular folk protest songs of the 1960s. This needs to be song of the decade!
Love it, as usual
Sup Billy

Your performance on wednesday was my first concert and I enjoyed it very much. Now I can't believe my eyes... It's so great to hear this songs with a band and I'm really looking forward to your new album. Thanks
I miss poor Robin Williams... R. I. ✌️
Dude this video is amazing. And how it starts. And how it shows the legend grow.
Such a great song. Cant believe it's 7 years old now. I remember when this came out and the bright eyes songs seemed old at the time.
Now nothing seems that old really. 😅
I heard this for the first time two nights ago on our local NPR station, and it has stuck with me. I gotta check this guy out.
Awesome, powerful video, brilliant song, my eye and ear-worm of the moment!
hahaha what a great video, the Times' magazine covers feature my two all time favourite photos of conor
I am in love with this.
the dylan and young vibes are strong with thee. awesome song. awesome video
I love your music and always will, thanks Conor!
We started drinking the Kool-Aid
We were taking the bait
We were talking the big talk
Never playing it safe
Looking good as Jane Fonda
On a Vietnam tank
You can't get something for nothing
Gotta energize your base
But she was young enough
She was blonde enough
She was about a perfect ten
Had millions of admirers but not one single friend
But it's a, it's a little uncanny
What she managed to do
Became a symbol for a pain she never knew
You know old Ronnie Reagan
He was a shoe salesman's son
He got himself in the movies
Yeah, he impressed everyone
He thought trial by fire
Was America's fate
He made a joke of the poor people
And that made him a saint
But he was tan enough, he was rich enough
He was handsome like John Wayne
And there was no one at the country club
Who didn't feel the same
But it's a, it's a little uncanny
What he managed to do
Got me to read those Russian authors through and through
I miss Christopher Hitchens
I miss Oliver Sacks
I miss poor Robin Williams
I miss Sylvia Plath
Every morning's a desert
Every night is a flood
They say a party can kill you
Well sometimes I wish it would
But I'll be strong enough, I'll be man enough
Oh I'll keep myself in check
'Cause all my friends who flew to town
Said that's what they expect
But it's a, it's a little uncanny
What they managed to do
Got me admittin' to things I knew were never true
Just love this tune. Have to keep coming back.
Yet another great song - entertaining video too
Absolutely perfect. Well done young man.
Hell yeah you go condor this is so good

"I miss Christopher Hitchens
I miss Oliver Sacks
I miss poor Robin Williams
I miss Sylvia Plath"
Conor, can you be anymore of a kindred spirit? Goddamn…
Shmuel Pernicone y

Creative! And expressive! Nailed it :)
How is this not viral?
"Hell is being given a life without a means to live with it.",dan'
Reminds me of my own country, Sonia Gandhi and Karunanidhi and other rich people who fooled us into all sorts of problematic ideologies, completely manipulated our indigenous histories and labelled us fascists and naziz and trivialised our current issues. Sonia Gandhi's father himself was an Italian Mason who fought FOR the naziz in ww2. These people are the Jane Fonda and Ronald Reagan of our country. Even our native name is forced to be erased from history over silly aesthetic reasons like "branding".

I just came to say thanks to you this song gives me strength. it's relatable. thank you :)))
I really do miss Christopher Hitchens
robair9911 me too man. He was the best
I really liked this song,
But when I heard the line "I miss Christopher Hitchens" I then Loved the song!
@bongo155 lol...thats, just like, your opinion man.
damn fine music
Haha the rat poison that's all it is. I love his humility to acknowledge he got caught up
my soulmate, I swear
I wish the video highlighted the lyrics more. Great concept I just wish it was more synced
Young Conor = Edward Furlong from Terminator 2.
R. Pneumo haha I was thinkin that too!
I literally thought it was a young Winona Ryder
sarah b That's funny 'cause he used to date her 😂
martin skreli
Glad that this song has lost its awkward guitar segment between solo and band recordings. Much improved.
Gary Lindsay hmmmmmm??!
Gary Lindsay I prefer the ruminations version tbh
I agree it was a little jarring... that said I think some of the vocal is lost in this recording. Overall I'd probably say full band recording edges it but music is music so my opinion means as much as anyone else's :)
Might be off topic but does bright eyes do a song called 'sapphire' ?
Bravo, Barbarella; X strikes again!!
The dates in the vid R un-real. And my mothers fave snack--like Reagan in the early 80s, minus plus liar. Sorry took an ambien an roamin' thru Boston. Putting Simone Felice back on.
❤🍀💃
Who else misses the Hitch ??
This song is so fucking good.
While Bobby D is staring at his navel and pondering Frank Sinatra, someone else grabbed the mic and wrote a brilliant song that is so relevant. BTW the rest of his stuff is pretty darned good and thoughtful too! One last thing... in the acoustic/live versions it's a "Viet Cong" tank. -Be well and do good!
Mike Marien that's the thing mate, Dylan does w.e, he's got no one to impress
So Manny! I guess you from Australia or NZ by the the "mate " thing. Let
me say I totally agree in one respect, however in the other...
Especially in America right now, I would think that there would more of
an upswell in in singer-songwriters right now. Perhaps that may come to
fruition in 8 months to a year (as is takes that long to get an album
produced). What I was after was that this guy nails it! Perhaps it's
time to rethink who we listen to, in terms of speculation on current
politics from musicians. Lord knows you have had quite a uhmm "shirt fronting" fool in charge of things down there... This as told to me by an Aussie on vacation in Scotland last year.
I miss Chris, too x
“At the time of conception inspiration was a twinkle in the eyes of nothing.” ,dan’
Aye, ‘appen ‘‘tis a good ‘un!
Oliver Sacks! 😭 miss you too
what the hell does the beginning of this video mean
his voice is really cutesy in this song. like a little kid. he didnt usually sound like this
“Sometimes autocorrect fucks up what I am trying to say a lot of times and I am not gonna blame poor typing anymore.”
,dan’
Sylvia Plath ghost. Shew.
Is this meant to send up Alanis Morrisette?
The ad exec looks familiar...
woot
this is rock and roll baby. who said rock is dead? I miss Christopher huckens and Robin Williams too
Hitchens I hate the auto correct on my phone
Fuck yes
"The machine is not a machine.",dan'
uncannily jaded
i guess Salutations is his attempt at having fun with it. yay~
Man am I exited for the new record!
2007 Conor with the pile of l”rat poison” was too funny
Love Connor, and I miss Christopher Hitchens as well.
I miss Anthony Bourdain.
"Nothing's vague.",dan'
I know this song only because I miss Hitchens too
I miss Christopher Hitchens too
ya either get it or ya don't
Lets take a drive to somewhere dry
