I've been on spironolactone since I was 16 and gone through 3 different dermatologists. I'm in my mid 20s now. They've all told me that I'm probably going to have to take it until menopause. It freaks me out to have to be on a medication for that long just to stop acne but all of them were kinda like 🤷‍♀️ this is the only option to not have acne. It makes me feel so much better that you are so open about these conversations and gives me hope that there are other solutions

The main thing that stopped my acne in late 30s was cutting out most of the inflammatory foods I was eating (sugar, dairy, and gluten). My acne cleared up within a few days, almost fully within two weeks and it's been five years now with great skin and I never eat dairy and gluten (but sometimes sweets 😊). My derm wanted to put me on some scary pills to stop acne, so I did my own research to understand inflammation and the foods that caused it (derm NEVER mentioned this and only pushed pills/creams 🤬)

I got prescribed spironolactone for acne and all it did was mess my period cycle up for 3 months and didn’t even help the acne so we decided not to take it anymore and it still took a month or so for my period to be more regulated after that. never again for me lol.

As a thought - consider advocating for sorting out the function of your liver via taking liver support and cleanse, iron etc supplements to gain good balance. A lot of women have these issues with estrogen, bowel movements and other things fix not only the hormal acne but also the actual hormones. As someone who did have this issue I recently went through a programe designed by my friend Biopath based in Norway, it really worked wonders, skin, belatedness, energy, levels via eating good, drinking home made bone broth. It is like a second job, but really worth it, a holistic approach.
This is just a suggestion - I love your Chanel and have learned a lot from your. By the I am recently back from France with a suitcase full of French skincare like the A312 and ialuset, wink wink 😊, thank you for all the recommendations, I’m a fan of you.

Yees. ❤ My luteal phase is the most hectic, towards the days leading up to my cycle/menses. Very comforting to know, thank you. I rely on Benzoyl Peroxide and sanitizing, cleansing + a blackhead popper tool (stainless steel circular tool to remove painful blemishes: sanitize the tool both before even during and/or after and my skin & treat right after: thankfully it works and relieves but it’s definitely not something I’d advise anyone else of course but it’s my regimen that helps combat). Lots of gentle moisturizing afterwards. ❤It’ll heal up on its own. • Till the next go-around 😂😂😂 It’s just an inevitable.’

I started getting acne again in September and had to go back on it in November but only half the dose of spironolactone and Accutane was reduced to twice a week. I so frustrated with acne, I love my derm in South Delhi (Delhi is the capital of India fyi) but I still wish I could consult with Dr. Idriss. Does this also works for hormonal acne for teenager? Or like 16-24? I'm currently 19 and have probably hormonal acne (it's only at my chin and cystic) and don't want to take birth control pills for this (I just don't want more hormones in my body and I just don't wanna be forced to take the pill for this, as it's quite uncomfortable to get from the pharmacy and I don't need it for the birth prevention part), not sure about spironolactone (I'm not a fan of pills in general).
Alright checked sth myself, seems like it's also suited for teens, for kids starting at 12. Sadly it won't come to Germany where I live until start or 2025, well, good to know it is sth that exists tho

Regulating your hormones should come through food and is a journey. Birth control is perscribed to every woman for everything. Pill popping for anti-baby pills is the right word... i was relieved someone finally acknowledged that. We all have hormones which we should understand what causes them to fluctuate and we should understand how to regulate them through diet and food habits. Hormonal acne and pcos can be regulated with food. Im not talking about other gynecological issues.

@@emi432emi Going on a specific diet can help you deal with symptoms of health issues like PCOS and hormonal acne a little bit, but it is not nearly as effective as medication. Diet does have an effect on hormones, but there are many other factors that affect it too. To shame someone for taking the medications that help people is wrong.

The best treatment for hormonal acne is :
Regulate your blood sugar since insuline is the cause of testosterone production.
    Take care of your gut.
Fix mineral and vitamine deficiences : zinc, iron, and especially vitamine D.
    Exercice
Lower stress and get sunlight daily
Eat a lot of good fats and proteins to improve hormone production.
    Sleep well
All this things will fix your hormones which is the cause of your acne so your acne will disapear from itself without taking any pills that will destroy your health,
Ps : all this things have no side effects not like birth control pills or spiro.
I am speaking from experience and this is the only things that cleared my skin.

I take 50mg a day, purely for the androgen blocking properties. But since it's a diuretic, it's good to be mindful of things like fluid and sodium intake (hydration in general, especially if you have low blood pressure). Also important to check liver function once in a while

I got it in my early 30s after getting off birth control that i had been on for 15+ years. Spironolactone saved me. It took a while. And you have to check your potassium intake and get it checked with blood work, but oh so worth it.

Wow! This is the first video I've ever seen that explains my hormonal acne 😭 I'm 27 years old and it just started about a year ago. No matter what I do it won't go away
