I hate that I’m actually writing this. Before there is full disclosure, multiple things must happen. First and fulmost, immunity to everyone involved with collection, study, cover up and reverse engineering needs to be granted. Secondly the disruption to the global economy must be dealt with. The transfer of wealth is going to be painful at first, but overtime 20 years or so, the opportunities created with unlimited clean energy, the word economy will be obsolete. Thirdly, the planet’s people and governments will have to cooperate on a level never witnessed before. I’m guessing the U.S. isn’t alone when it comes to crash retrieval, and no one is going to reveal its secrets until everyone understands this only works if we all buy into it.

There are very good reasons why the Pentagon doesn't want to disclose this. Any acknowledgement only invites more questions, and some of these questions lead to exactly who is doing the research and where it's being done. Along with that, the methods of funding the work would likely be disrupted, and that's not even considering what they've done in the past to keep things quiet. It's a house of falling cards scenario. That being said, I for one would like to know what's really going on. I just know that if I had the responsibility to keep the research going while protecting it from our adversaries, I'd probably wouldn't give it up either.
