I know.. they mentioned in one of the episodes how someone liked how minimal it was just to listen without watching. But I like to see people who talk and see their face. I wish there was a watching option 😢

What if it never returns? What would it mean for you if it never changes back?

Even when they had video, they discovered that the majority of their listeners were listening to their podcast without video.

Maybe it’s a cost savings strategy if they don’t need an in person studio. Maybe they’re all in their own living rooms lol. But I agree, I liked the visual videos

Wow this is a great one. Using curiosity as a defense. Josh's humorous reply, dismissive. The emotions are inside of me, not = to who I am

I commend her for putting her family first. Maybe it’s different in each area of the country, but in my experience in a Southern US state, being ABLE to be home with your kids and have in-home care when needed is what a lot of moms wish for their family. When I had to use daycare for my schedule, the workers there would ask why I didn’t bring my child there on my days off. I simply responded, “Because I want to be present and involved in my child’s life as he is growing and developing…and frankly, I like being with my son!” They seemed so shocked that I didn’t “need a break.” Another response could be, “Why do you care?”
Haley is investing in her kids in the way that she feels is the right thing to do. It’s actually very unselfish and shows her character for being consistent with her values. You have to lay down at night with a clean conscience so you can have peace. Stay strong, Haley!

Recognize when someone is showing poor boundaries, projecting their fears and desire to control you/others. A brief comment to diffuse/disarm the question: " I don't know. . . ."

Love the subject and love the new format! It's easier to focus deeply when there is just audio ❤

Dang, TK. I have been writing down your questions verbatim and practicing them so they’ll become second nature. It’s the perfect response to use on someone who keeps badgering me with passive-aggressive questions wrapped in self-serving virtue signaling and underhanded insults. The questions rile me, and I want to learn to throw them back with these non-confrontational replies to learn why that question is important to this person in the first place. Good stuff here. TYVM.

A coworker asked me why I chose to live far away from work. The truth is the 45 minute commute by transit was pleasant; I wanted actual and psychological distance from work, and moving was not appropriate for me at that time. When I tried to clumsily explain that where I lived was valid for me, I was met with: "You're crazy." I think this response was woefully judgemental, and many of us dread to have this kind of coworker interaction. (For context, we also worked within housing for mentally ill people so calling anybody in the building crazy is problematic!!) If only that question was not asked of me! And why did the coworker keep inflaming my geography? I was and am flabbergasted. Thank you for your compassion towards porcupine quill conversations! ✴

I have minimalism questions. What if someone has a lot of things in their home. But they decide not to buy more stuff. Would it be having to reduce what they have and therefore owning less stuff that would make them a minimalist? Or is it the act of choosing not to acquire more stuff than what they already own even though they have a lot of stuff?

I struggle to not react when a text or message makes no sense and requires deciphering because the sender doesn't proof read, my time is just as valuable as theirs.
