I was born on May 4,`71 and my Dad served in the sub service from `65-`69..just wanted to give some respect from up here in Downeast Maine and so you guys know that you`ve always been heroes to us..Rest easy, Mr. G.........
was at the DMZ L Co 3dBn, 4thMar 66-67...birddogs saved our asses on more than one occasion, ringing in the PHANTOMS.....thanks Captain Finch for all you did.............
Thank You SIR for your Service and Dedication to our Country during a difficult time......Once again......makes me PROUD to live in a country with Men like yourself !! MUCH RESPECT to ALL Vietnam Combat Veterans !!…...WELCOME HOME SIR !!
Enjoyed Charles story. I was also an Army O-1 pilot, but flew out of Vin long in the south, 67-68. Shot in the leg and arm, but made it back to the airfield. I remember the medic told me I had a $1,000,000 wound that would get me home. He was right.
Interview was March 25th.. But I did not catch the interviewer stating what year this interview was conducted nor do I see an actual Interview Date in the below information section. Was this recorded in 2020?? Or 2014?? Thank you for these amazing interviews and thanks to all the Vets for their service 🙏
You got that right. I served with Charlie as a crew chief and can tell you from personal experience that he was definitely a "Badass Warrior". He was a regular guy and never made the fact that he was a captain and I was an enlisted man stop us from being friends. I still to this day stay in touch with him and others from our company "The Catkillers".
My friend Jimmie Butler flew AF planes similar to yours from NKP Thailand. It was a helluva a ride, he says. I'm sure that it was the same to you. O-1 missions from the Mekong River to Laos (mainly). Me I'm a North Vietnamese linguist first flying on Combat Apple, then stationed at an intercept site at NKP. Thank you for your service.
