Watched "Woodstock" the other day. While Richie Havens, Santana, Joe Cocker and Ten Years After have more memorable performances in the film, this song by Canned Heat is the highlight for me. One, because it a single camera shot for the whole tune, the cameraman walking among the musicians on stage. And two, a fan rushes on stage, hugs the singer, who waves off a roadie who was going "help" the fan offstage. And the fan then helps himself to a cigarette from the singers pocket tee shirt. Classic.

I think this is the greatest performance of the festival, one of the greatest performances of the 60s hell even all time.
And not just the bands playing which was fantastic blues work in itself, but the entire atmosphere, the spirit of the band and the audience, the wholesomeness of it, especially the interaction between the kid crashing the stage and Bob the bear Hite (may he Rest In Peace). He didn’t throw the kid off stage or stop the show like so many artists would if this happened today. He embraced the love and kept the show rolling like a pro.
You can’t help but smile and wish you were there in that moment every time you see it.
For the good AND the bad, the world will never be like what we see here again. This era was a moment in time that will be missed forever.

My Generation! The music and the ideals of love, peace, and happiness. What a time to be alive and hear and see Joe, Janis, Jimi, Alvin, Grace, Canned Heat, and more perform the music that really mattered. Alas, nothing remains the same and our time in the sun is a warm remembrance filled with nostalgic interludes. In these dark times, we seek a place we can go to and dream. Such places are watching performances such as these. Powerful, spiritual, explosive, all the adjectives one can think of and more. Our troubles are forgotten at least for a little while as we join in sweet harmony the call for joy. Art is resistance, the revolution continues.

It was in 1975 at the Tulsa State Fairgrounds, J. Geils , Johnny Winter and ZZ Top played. When ZZ TOP was in the middle of their Fandango set I was fortunate to jump up on the edge of the stage and got to sit on what it looked like from their perspective. Also, in 1974 , at Onteriel Motor Speedway with 350,000 people. I saw Rare Earth, Earth Wind and Fire , Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Emerson Lake and Palmer. All for 10.00. Another for 10.00 was in 1976 at Arrowhead Stadium was The Rolling Stones. Opening act was the Eagles with Joe Walsh.

I know there were alot of great performances at Woodstock but personally this one stands out to me. I love Canned Heat, I love this song, I love how the dude jumped onstage and the Bear just went with it, calling off security. And just seeing Blind Owl Wilson and Bob 'The Bear' Hite doing their thing at their peak at WoodStock is just awesome. Tragic what happened to those 2 guys.
