LOS ANGELES _ Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto denied Thursday that he is the creator of bitcoin.
Newsweek published a 4,500-word cover story claiming Nakamoto is the person who wrote the computer code underpinnings of bitcoin, but in an exclusive two-hour interview with The Associated Press, Nakamoto denied he had anything to do with the digital currency.
Nakamoto, 64, said he had never heard of bitcoin until his son told him he had been contacted by a Newsweek reporter three weeks ago. He acknowledged that many of the details in Newsweek's report are correct, including that he once worked for a defense contractor, and that his given name at birth was Satoshi. But he strongly disputed the magazine's assertion that he is "the face behind bitcoin."
"I got nothing to do with it," he said, repeatedly.
Newsweek stands by its story, which kicked off the relaunch of its print edition after 15 months and reorganization under new ownership.
Since bitcoin's birth in 2009, the currency's creator has remained a mystery. The person - or people - behind the digital currency's inception have been known only as "Satoshi Nakamoto," which many observers believed to be a pseudonym.
Bitcoin has become increasingly popular among tech enthusiasts, libertarians and risk-seeking investors because it allows people to make one-to-one transactions, buy goods and services and exchange money across borders without involving banks, credit card issuers or other third parties. Criminals like bitcoin for the same reasons.
For various technical reasons, it's hard to know just how many people worldwide own bitcoins, but the currency attracted outsize media attention and the fascination of millions as an increasing number of large retailers such as Overstock.com began to accept it.
Speculative investors have jumped into the bitcoin fray, too, sending the currency's value fluctuating wildly in recent months. In December, the value of a single bitcoin hit an all-time high of $1,200. It was around $665 on Thursday, according to the website bitcoincharts.com.
After Newsweek posted the story on its website early Thursday, Nakamoto said his home was bombarded by phone calls. By mid-morning, a dozen reporters were waiting outside the modest two-story home on the residential street in Temple City, California, where he lives. He emerged shortly after noon saying he wanted to speak with one reporter only and asked for a "free lunch."
During a car ride and then later over sushi lunch at the AP bureau in downtown Los Angeles, Nakamoto spoke at length about his life, career and family, addressing many of the assertions in Newsweek's piece.
He also said a key portion of the piece - where he is quoted telling the reporter on his doorstep before two police officers, "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it" - was misunderstood.
Nakamoto said he is a native of Beppu, Japan who came to the U.S. when he was 10. He speaks both English and Japanese, but his English isn't flawless. Asked if he said the quote, Nakamoto responded, "no."
"I'm saying I'm no longer in engineering. That's it," he said of the exchange. "And even if I was, when we get hired, you have to sign this document, contract saying you will not reveal anything we divulge during and after employment. So that's what I implied."
"It sounded like I was involved before with bitcoin and looked like I'm not involved now. That's not what I meant. I want to clarify that," he said.
"Peer-to-peer can be anything," he said. "That's just a matter of address. What the hell? It doesn't make sense to me."

This guys personality is exactly what i expected Satoshis to be even if he’s not
Yeah
He fits the category and behavior of the real Satoshi
I’d love to listen to him talk all day. He’s full of wisdom.
Absolutely.
"Satoshi Nakamoto is a fictitious name."

he is Nakamoto! I can see it in his eyes. He is trying to hide it. If you look closely you can see the bitcoin symbol in his eyes.
Lol. This is not cartoon where dollar sign shows up in eyes.
Not him, his brother is
😂😂
His hiding his shiny red eyes and aura
🤣
Only the real Satoshi Nakamoto would deny he is the Satoshi Nakamoto
Basically you are right... Everybody else who was involved in Bitcoin said he is the one. or "I Know this is the real Satoshi" but this guy said. "I’m not, but even if I was" op troller. It might be him or someone he knew/knows...
@@jonkadler8333 he is Satoshi man

He just so happened to live right down the street from hal finney who was the first person to ever receive a bitcoin from Satoshi. Theres a 90% chance this is him.

So he lives in the time zone that the btc creator was active online, his name was Satoshi at birth, his last name is nakamoto, he's an engineer, and lived a mile from Hal Finney. This dude knows something for sure, or the creator knew he could use his friend as a fall guy without ever telling him about the project.
Right.
That doesn't make sense. If that's the case this guy would have came out and told everyone that his friend used his name to hide his own identity? Why would he remain quiet after being used as a scapegoat?
I agree.
His age doesn't match up
Exactly. He must know something. He very well could be telling the truth about being contractually obligated to secrecy.

He ist the creator man
Occams razor. Satoshi Nakamoto is Satoshi Nakamoto. He looks like the rare type of man who could have 1 million Bitcoin and not do anything with them. He clearly doesn't want the attention.
He said it can´t be me because I did not have a job and stayed at home. There is a lot of facts about this guy. He hates banks because he has been denied loans more than once. He is an computer engineer, he has the name. This guy lives a few blocks away from Hal Finney. The person that received the first Bitcoin transaction.
This is Satoshi nakamato man
Hate to burst everyones bubble buy Satoshi is clearly Adam Back, the computer code used on the original rules out Hal and in-fact almost all US programers. I's clearly a British person with a very academic background to coding.

Wow
I wish he was the creator. He appears very humble. It seems to me that the only fame Satoshi Nakamoto would want is a free sushi meal :P
I can tell you this, he is the inventor, he can not say he is the inventor because it was a government black project.
but if it is government project why was it released under his own name?
@@RevanSK its not a government project. It's his intelligence telling him that with the current financial exchange. The poor will remain poor and the rich will be richer. He done a good job. Crypto is the future. It is better than cash exchanges. And also he must not tell the world he is the creator because he would get killed. Bitcoin is currently the most expensive non-exist item in the world.

It was not originally a government project, Him and quite a few other cypherpunks created btc as a libertarian idea at first but the government did co opt it and it truly is now honey pot scheme where people think they are using a anonymous coin when in truth it’s more trqckqble then everrr! when he says "oh jeez no i'm not that brilliant" with a cheeky laugh .. that definitely implies he knows how brilliant he is.
i don't care what anyone says, he 100% is Satoshi. He just doesn't want publicity and wants to live a normal life. If he admitted he actually was Satoshi, he'd be getting interviewed all the time being asked about the price, be at risk of being robbed, and might even be sued for some dumb reasons. The point of Bitcoin is to be 100% decentralized and put the users in charge. I respect it though, he's very humble.
he stopped communicating the 13nd Dec 2010 after an article linking Bitcoin to Wikileaks. If he was talking publicly the US gov would make his life horrible, the CIA would find someone to blame him for rappe, and the IRS would go after him for any reason... they probably would kill him if he was talking too much. He probably got a warning to shut up. The gov don't want him to be a leader of opinion and trigger a bank run an US dollar collapse. Check what he said in his last post at Bitcointalk... "It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context. WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet's nest, and the swarm is headed towards us."
@@MetaIsland That sounds crazy but believable at the same time.
If he really is Satoshi Nakamoto(The Name written in the Bitcoin White Paper) why would he write Satoshi Nakamoto in the Bitcoin White Paper and then Deny it?
Why not use a Pseudonym that is not exactly his real name?
If he really does not want to be known he could use a Pseudonym that is not his name
@@christopherdoctolero8419 He probably didn't expect his invention to reach a global scale and become a ONE TRILLION dollar market cap. Imagine the responsibility of that. Satoshi probably doesn't like attention in the first place, and most likely regrets using his real name, but I guess we will never know.
@@DisarMn I mean he’s very smart. And this project took time. He wouldn’t do all of that without believing the world would need it.

Dorian is most likely the creator of btc. I can understand why he wouldn't want to be identified, but I'm pretty sure he didn't realize the growth that would come from btc in the beginning.
the only way BTC can do what it does is for the founder to disappear.
@@freddysitami wonder if Dorian is sitting in his dark room watching the News ,eating sushi and seeing how he changed the world now that presidents even talk about it😊
If I had a gun to my head, I would say Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto developed Bitcoin alongside Hal Finney who lived in the same town with him and received the first Bitcoin transfer. More people would have been involved in the business but Dorian Satoshi may have opted out after a while as he said but later denied, claiming he misinterpreted the question

Proof that he is bitcoin founder
- he has 1.1 million bitcoins
- his name was implemented on the website
- the person made the first bitcoin purchase near him
He’s was my neighbor. After selling on the first big spike, he basically sold his house in 2018 and went all in on Bitcoin. The guy in this video is the real Satoshi Nakamoto.
His full name is Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto 🤘
He proved someone in the SGV can change the world 🌎 💻💰
He’s Satoshi but he doesn’t want to reveal his identity
This man lived close to Hal finny, the first guy to receive BTC from Satoshi. It is suspected that Hal finny liked this guy's name and took it for his online persona, finny sent the bitcoins to himself to test the project. Hal finny died due to a disease which the SEE A.I AYyy is suspected to have given him, as soon as Hal fell sick Satoshi dissappeared from the internet. R.I.P
But this guy had changed his name to "Dorian" back when he was still working. How would Hal have known what his real name was before Dorian? He wouldn't have gone out of his way to stalk the guy to see that his given name was Satoshi. He would have known that only if they were close friends.
By the way, Hal is not really yet "dead", he is frozen cryogenically:

This video should be called "how to eat sushi while pretending to not give a shit" It's one heck of a sushi restaurant promo vide. I mean by the time it was over I almost had to reconsider my position on eating uncooked/raw seafood, ie fish with rice and so forth. It's a close call, but damn he makes it look really tasty. if he hadn't created bitcoin he would act as if he did so that he could benefit from the publicity but since he's a billionaire he doesn't care.
Just to realize, this man, if he is Satoshi, one of the top 10 richest men in the world
Why keep showing what he is eating? Just let the guy eat his meal!
He looks and sounds like a Japanese Bernie Sanders.
I think many people know who is behind bitcoin, but these people smart enough to understand and respect privacy of the man and his family not to disclose it. Just think for a second, would you trade your privacy for money? Basically you would not belong to yourself if you did.
I think people who knows the real bitcoin founder are rich af
It is likely the he was a big part of creating bitcoin because he worked for a company the specializes in this form of engineering. Like he said, even if he did, he is not able to disclose that he was part if it.
So a guy with the name Satoshi Nakamoto has nothing to do with bitcoin which was created by Satoshi Nakamoto - hmmm?
That is some strange video editing.
If my name was Satoshi Nakamoto and I was not the creator of Bitcoin, and the Bitcoin creator name was the same name as mine. I would say that I think there were probably some duplicate names of Satoshi Nakamoto, not just me, wouldn't say that someone used a fictitious name, because in the first place, I wouldn't have thought it was just a fictitious one. Probably didn't think that it was just a made-up name.
I'd probably believe you if you weren't a professional software engineer, and I don't care how you denied it, you are the face of my Satoshi

the real question is, would the real Satoshi deny and lie about being the creator of BTC if he was ever found? Chances are the he would have to put on an act, otherwise a lot of people would be after him for many reasons...
Yes, if he admit of being the bitcoin founder, he would be chased for the private key of the freezing million bitcoin !
