    Hello, the Synology has the auto power on when supply issue is fixed
    You will find it into, settings, Hardware and power
    When this function is enabled, the system will boot up automatically after getting power source supply if the system shuts down abnormally because of power failure.
    Enable Power Recovery function
    Ticking the box brings the unit back online following a power outage.

      Unless the ISP modem has mGig ports it wouldn’t make a difference. The modem ports and WAN bandwidth will be the bottleneck to 1Gbps. Connections to local services like the NAS will be via the switch so the only way to get >1Gbps to those services is to upgrade the switch to mGig. The only traffic which will get >1Gbps is what’s only travelling over Wi-Fi (ac or ax) and there aren’t many real life situations when this would happen.

    I can't believe that nobody has commented about the rack being hung out from the drywall using those toggle bolts, with no studs or other reinforcement. This is terrible advice that NO manufacturer or network tech would support. Yes, most drywall can support decent loads but only in VERTICAL force (like from a picture or mirror). That big heavy rack is a cantilevered load that will also apply a large amount of TENSION to those toggle bolts, SHEARING the drywall, and rip them right out, damaging the wall and especially all the equipment in your rack. Drywall is not strong under forces perpendicular to the surface, and it's brittle so it slowly cracks and crumbles over time before ultimate failure without warning.
    It may not happen today or tomorrow, but one day it will either rip out on its own or when you pull on it while working in there. The rack manufacturer will probably tell you that the warranty is void because of improper installation.
    If you want to mount to that back wall and really have no studs, I'd recommend building some framing with 2x4's to go back there and take them all the way to the sides and floor. You could also put a thick sheet of plywood back there, and attach that to the drywall at more places to spread the load. Either way, try to anchor that to a stud on the side walls or overhead. A couple of hours of doing this will save you from days of fixing everything and hundreds or thousands of dollars in damage.

    I always enjoy your videos Shane! I have a question about keeping my HomePod Mini on my IoT vlan. I use my iPhone on my main network and my mini jumps back on that network after a few days. is there a way to prevent that?

    I always asking myself what will be with whole smart home if your provider internet connection will be interrupted?!:/

      Thanks for watching! It really depends on what you are using. In theory, HomeKit runs locally so all your smart home automations, etc should still be able to run even without wifi.

    I do suggest everyone get a WiFi mesh system. They are costly but no more headaches. This a nice house I would not get this Netgear trash but either TP-Link Omada gear or Ubiquit gear.

    Great videos Shane. Question about the NavePoint rack... Does it come with various sized brackets to mount the network switches and power strip? I'd like to buy a switch with fewer ports and also my Swann DVR, but I'm worried I wont have the right sized brackets.

      You can get different depth shelves that are made for network racks

      19inch rack don't come with brackets for devices. These come with the devices themselves. They will always fit the 19inch rack since it's the standard.

    I may have missed it in another video, but do you have a recommendation for a HomeKit connected power utilization monitor?

      The “Eve Energy” would fit the bill…

    Very awesome setup! I’ve had Orbi systems for 10 years and love them. I just got the RBK852, thing I learned from your video is you can setup a separate ssid for smart home devices. Can you send instructions to me?

    Hi Shane - just a simple question on the closet lighting control and how well that works. I see you mentioned Eve as the switch, what is your lighting and control setup? Also, are you happy with it? Thanks!

      Hi Christopher. Yes, I'm happy with it. It's an Eve door sensor and a Phillips Hue light bulb in the fixture.

    Dude! What a sweet set up! But… Are you not running your Acara system hardwired with the hub M2?

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates Год назад

      Thanks Dustin! No, I primarily use the Aqara M1S as my hub. Which, as you know, plugs into an outlet elsewhere. It works great for me over wifi and I like using the light on it.

      @myHomeKithome Год назад

      @@ShaneCreates if I’m being honest, I haven’t noticed any performance improvements using the M2 wirelessly versus wired. It’s all super solid. The M1S is a beast. I have two of them and use their lights as indicators for sensor and device states that are placed in that area of the house. Great little subtle reminder.

    Have you experienced any pause in the internet with the Orbi’s? Mine seems to have these random pauses of the network….been working with engineering for over 2 months now :(

    Did you have any issues connecting your Aqara hub to the Orbi router? I have an older Orbi mesh router and was not able to connect an Aqara hub, since the Orbi app doesn’t support splitting the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz bands.
