They are. They have access to the internet, better medical and nutritional resources. I wrestled from '77 to '90, if I'd seen a shin wizzer or shoulder dump, cement mixer, etc when I was 59lbs. It would have helped. Wrestling is infinitely more popular too, MMA gives a goal for professional aspirations. Before it was only WWF (😅)

They are certainly more well rounded . The good guys used to be good at more conventional moves and not everyone was a scrambler or good tactical athlete . Guys had their big moves and they were more common. Watch the NCAA finals . It’s not just having a good double or being able to ride anymore. So many winning takedowns are those footsweeps and crazy trips etc. and everyone in the top ten has them.
It’s truly a shoot out and guys win on those big moves that aren’t exactly what they are known for .

Swaderski going to make some noise at IOWA STATE!Word is ,he's going year 1 ,no red shirt!Impressive offense, but even more impressive defense!Mendez never even was close to scoring off a shot! Kudos to him to go to Iowa State, when he probably had offers at P.S,IOWA,and the rest of the top teams.Going to have some great work out partners, and a great leader to follow in Carr!Look out for State, could be top 5 team if things go right!

19 years of being a competitor and spectator .
I will never cease to be amazed how much psychology goes into these types of matches .
4 time state champion vs 4 time champ .
I don’t think the levels of wrestling where they won are dissimilar. It’s just so crazy to see someone dominate someone with the equal credentials .
