- We've known that Earth is round for thousands of years, but-in 2022-some people still think it's flat. This week we're exploring why so many people gravitate toward crazy conspiracies...and why some of them insist their beliefs are essential to Bible-believing faith.

I have one question for you. The sun does disappear at the horizon. It looks bigger at the horizon than when it is on top of your head. But a plane on top of your head looks bigger than when it reaches the horizon. Why is it so?

When Jesus returns, “every eye will see him” I always wondered how this could be unless the earth is flat! or Jesus is flying around the earth?
Jesus will be in the sky, he may not ve flying around, he will more than likely stand still as the earth rotates. He will take around a full day gathering his people. Not because he can not do it in a moment. It's because things need to happen to fully the word of God.

The first line of Isaiah 40:22 reads, “It is he [i.e. God] who sits above the circle of the earth.” Some have argued from this that Scripture teaches the earth to be a flat disc, rather than a globe. However, even if the original Hebrew is correctly understood to refer to a circle, this doesn’t necessarily indicate something flat; a sphere appears as a circle when seen from above-and indeed from whatever direction it is viewed. Moreover, there is good reason to believe that the word translated ‘circle’ might be better translated ‘sphere’.

So how far over the curve will refraction continue to work? Flat earthers show videos of land marks over 100 miles away that should be over the curve by more than 6000 feet. Explain Joshua 10 vs 12 - 14. Why did Joshua command the rotating sun to stand still? Because he knew it was the sun that moves, not earth. Flat earthers are in belief of Gods word, that earth is still, yes it is the sun and moon that rotates around the earth under the firmament. Was hoping for substance that I could learn from and share with others, but unfortunately this video seems to be a lot of rambling and labeling. People on both sides of the matter are genuine in their quest for truth and love for God. Compassion is needed. I'm not saying the earth is flat (or round), just that this video seems to lacks substance that could help bring resolution to the discussion, apart from the authority of the speaker for those who may know him. His closing remarks sound reasonable - for many persons, it will not matter either way.

When the bible talks about the 4 corners of the earth it's just simply talking about north south east and west this doesn't mean it is flat if you can look at the sun and see that it is round same as the moon and all other planets why would God make earth the only flat planet not to mention the ocean would run off the side and the springs of the earth wouldn't be enough to replenish what runs off the sides
Your concept of what the Bible describes as to what the heavens and the earth are are incomplete. Therefore I don't blame your for not accepting your unbiblical concept, it makes no sense. But when or if you take the time to understand what all the Bible actually says on this issue then you will be much more apt to accept it for what it says. One thing to keep in mind is that ALL error is dangerous and Satan obviously has something big up his sleeve in order to deceive the world otherwise why would he strive so hard to present to the world such a strong unbiblical heliocentric deception?

I listen to a handful of speakers like Shawn. They all have their calling. I love the men God has put in my life to teach me of the things I could never study for myself. The different perspectives, but all Biblical Truth, are a great addition to my own Bible studies. 😀
I think it doesnt matter if the world is flat or round. It doesnt make any difference when there is so much more to to to spend time or attention to when we have so little time left. We dont have time to waste on things that distract us from what we should be doing.
What linkage can be sited to explain how a 360.98 degree rotating orb can maintaining its 24 hour synchronization, all the while orbiting the sun, millennium after millennium?

Rev 1:7 says that every eye shall see him. So if we are on a "ball" sphere earth/land, how do we all see him when he comes if we are living on the other side of the ball?
Look at a Gleason's New Standard Map of the World (flat earth map) and look at 12 noon from the east. Jesus is coming from the east and if he stays at the outer edge at the 12 o'clock east noon position then every eye will see him. And looking towards his face. I believe that Jesus wants to look at us face to face when we meet.
If we live on a ball not every eye will see him when he comes. And that would make Jesus a lier.

Since I’ve never been high enough to see for myself, I do not know the shape of the earth. I do think from the principle of truth that it is important if we’re being deceived. Either way, I do believe the earth is motionless and that the heavens rotate above and around us.

It doesn’t actually vanish, that’s one of the flatearrhers main points, if you use a telescope, zoom in you’ll see the boat is still there…? This was actually proven. I’m not a flat earth guy but some questions they make sense, such as CGI globes? Remember, every difficult theory was met by debate, than conclusion…this is a good thing!
Powerful sermon and also it would really be nice to do a part 2 of how we humans want to know more about the devils plans than Gods plans no wonder a lot of people claim to been or what to see hell its not only the protestant churches even the SDA's lose sight of Jesus and sometimes focus on end time prophesy not that its bad after all that's the only way to know what the mark of the beast otherwise I love end time sermons but we should not lose sight of Jesus. You have good insight into the flat-earth movement. I, too, have concluded that the appeal of belief the earth is flat is that of Gnosticism. I've battled the flat-earth movement for more than six years, and I long ago found that arguing with convinced flat-earthers is a waste of time. Instead, I concentrate on providing answers to people who have encountered flat-earth arguments and are looking for rebuttals to the claims of flat-earthers.

We haave a lot of flat earth people in our towns. One day I had to burst into laughter when the person told me that I make God small. The only question I asked is: Who makes God small? The person that tells that God only made a dome or me knowing that God greated billions of universes

Pattern recognition is an amazing feature of our brains, yes indeed. As a Christian and a student of Prophecy I can see why God created us in this way. He has placed In his Word, a multitude of patterns which repeat (ecc1;9).
Pattern is one of the keys to comprehending biblical prophecy. Greco-Roman thought says prophecy=prediction+fulfillment
There are predictions and fulfillment in scripture which seem to affirm the formula mentioned above but what happens after that fulfillment? Many prophecy teachers Say 1/3 of the Bible is prophecy, according to the above formula that is true yet Rev 19;10 says the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. That could only mean that what Jesus taught was prophetic yet he only made a few predictive statements. What about the rest? Hmmm...

You can see the horizon BEHIND THE SUN, do your research. The Michelson Morley experiments and Sagnac proved 100 earth us motionless.
I started reading the Bible when I was around 7 therefore I have always known the earth was not a ball spinning 1000mph while chasing the sun at 66,600mph while racing through space at about half a million mph because it totally didn't correspond with what the Bible was telling me. I never spoke about this to anyone as I was growing up I completely kept it to myself. I never even heard of anyone talk about a flat earth. Just within the last couple of years I watched a few videos about flat earth and I was amazed that others knew the truth as I did. There are some flat earthers that are quacks but there are several that are great Christians that are merely trying to educate by spreading the truth. The shape of the earth may not change someone's relationship with God but its important to know how Satan has deceived so many through the heliocentrism model which is why so many don't believe in God. In the English Bible OT the older usage "earth" (land, soil) is used to translate 'eretz' (land, soil). Our modern usage "Earth" (planet) ISN'T USED in the Bible. Flat Earthers routinely misinterpret LAND passages as though they were talking about the PLANET (and celestial mechanics) instead. Failing to notice/respect the earth/Earth distinction in English is a major part of where their Bible exegesis goes wrong.

Sometimes it amazes me how people can believe certain things that have not been proven, especially Flat Earth theories, just travel in a ship until there's no land. Then you'll know what I mean.
The problem with your statement is that the distance that you claim put you over the horizon actually is just that the land is so far away you can't see it with the naked eye. I have seen the experiment and once you included a telescope the land is again visible.

The Hebrew word in question is khûg (חוּג) which is also found in Job 22:14 where, in many Bible versions, it is translated ‘vault’. For example, the New American Standard Bible reads, “Clouds are a hiding place for Him, so that He cannot see; and He walks on the vault of heaven.” Clearly ‘vault’ carries the sense of something three-dimensional and is given as the primary meaning of khûg in the well-known Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew and English Lexicon.1 In modern Hebrew, a sphere is denoted by khûg, along with kaddur, galgal, and mazzal.2 In Arabic (another Semitic language), kura means ball and is the word used in the Van Dyck-Boustani Arabic Bible (1865) to translate khûg in Isaiah 40:22.
Of course the Earth isn't flat. It's actually concave. We live in a massive cave and the firmament is a giant glass ball.

When they talk to you about the flat earth, ask them their thoughts on the books of Enoch and whether they should be Canon or not. You’ll probably find that they have to bend their view of the shape or structure of the Earth in order to fit the book of Enoch in as the Inspired word of God. That should be an interesting conversation. Or better yet, follow your own instincts and the guidance of the Holy Spirit and just don’t engage, which matches what you’ve already learned. 😊
