You learn language, behave, you work, respect the people and their habits even tho it seems weird first. You allso do good for the people that think nobody should come here. You make the best difference between the wanted and the other half. Thank you for the videos and talking too about the hard differences about moving to another country
Nice too see that things go well and you have progressed with your firm and got some new experiences as well. That keeps life interesting. I had to laugh about the safety comment how president can safely walk alone to the store so here is no need for bodyguards. That remained me as Sauli Niinistö became president at the first time and it was nice summer day and someone had took a video shot with camera as president were sitting on terace of small pub or restaurant and having a pint of beer 😁. Other funny story was after Metallica had released Load album in late 90s and band was touring world wide. The band came to Helsinki and James Hetfield had left from the hotel to walk around the city, look around some sights and got to McD to eat something. No-one interrupted him or bothered him that whole time. No paparazzis, no fans, no crazy random people... He said in the interview how amazed he feld and how happy he was that he could have that kind of freedom here and feel safe. And knew too that Metallica were world scale big band here too and concerts are always sold out on the tour so some people had to regonice him as he was walking around but still no-one came to bother. That is so true that there isn´t much for need for bodyguards for sure, but there might be some doorman jobs in bars that takes care of drunken and aggressive finns that couses trouble in bars and restaurants. You can get the permit to be "järjestyksenvalvoja" in one day course. I´ve got that lisence propably early millenium or -99, can´t remember exact but about that time. I had other full time job already so i rather got out at the weekends pick some women rather than stand on the door 😁.
Welcome to have you. I guess for those who have been riding with me for awhile. The change is the mindset and experience. I have been a bit distant from certain experiences and have felt like more recently I am coming out of my shell to embrace my surroundings a bit. But perhaps I didn’t quite clarify so well✨
Hyvinhän se suomi sujuu! Hopefully you've enjoyed your time here. When you say "you can bring something of your own to a new culture to you", I hope you bring spices... Our dishes definitely lack them xD The silly thing is that with professional bodyguard resume you'd possibly become "a mall cop" as in security company guard. And even then it could be troublesome without speaking fluent Finnish. But you know, a professional bodyguard might be a big asset in planning events, especially international events. Bringing that understanding to a place that doesn't regularly have much to think about in terms of personnel security. And someone with that background could definitely train people. Like there's been talk about school shootings lately, I'm sure a professional bodyguard could bring valuable concepts of thinking to teachers in their environment. It's a big dichotomy in Finland currently: people would really love to keep the ability to get their services in person in Finnish, but at the same time our population is backwards structured and there's a constant need for immigrants to fill the workspace. With that situation you really can't take the stance that everyone has to speak at least good Finnish to be hired or work. Isn't that a huge obstacle for people willing to work to begin with. Actually I'm a bit upset for how things have been handled: we have massive shortage of doctors and nurses, but even if someone had medical doctor degree in their own country, they can't get a job as doctor in Finland for not speaking the language, they have to become like a food delivery driver or something. Even though at this point majority of our population speaks pretty good English. Sure you could say the communication between the patient and the doctor is important to not have misunderstandings, but if someone was not comfortable going to the doctor in English, why not have a possibility to agree on "would you be ok with English doctor if you can get your appointment now?" and otherwise assigned to a Finnish speaking doctor? It's just ridiculous waste of ability and knowledge while in dire need. Honestly I've thought about it multiple times lately, how would I fare if I went to another country where I couldn't speak the language satisfyingly and for the first time in my life, truly fight for survival in some sense. I don't envy people who go through that trial by fire, but I respect them.
I heard that Finnish people don’t use spices… as an American, specifically an African American, I can’t let that slide. So I hope you and your fellow Fins will be open to trying spices 🫡
Welcome to Finland 🙂 For learning the language a bit more, try start following the local soap opera called Salatut Elämät (Secret Lives). It gives you fairly good "every day finnish language" people use in this country. I actually recommend this to everybody who moves to another country to learn a bit the local language, like I followed (and still do) Emmerdale whilst I was living in the UK.
Did you move to Finland all by yourself? Because I think that would help you integrate to society a lot quicker. It would be hard(er) and a bit lonely at first, but after a while you would "Finlandise" and go with the flow so to speak. Im not from Finland (Sweden) and I have heard many ppl that came here to Sweden say they feel lonely and depressed. And I can understand that, I mean the winters is.... COLD, DARK and LOOOOONG!! 😁 But then the summer comes and it's the same thing but the exact opposite. Warm, Sun all day (and some places night).

Our new version of the infamous finnish war movie based on real war here, the "Tuntematon Sotilas" new version. In that movie there is a finnish higher-ranking senior officer, at least a major I'd say. In the midst of bullet rain, he looks at the liteunant lying there trembiling, trying to pull himself together and lead his squad, and says to him: canlmly and like a very balanced man: "Son, rise aup and lead our men. Come.", and the major starts WALKING forward in the middle of the bullet rain, for at least 10 meters, then russian cannon fire blast hits right at him, totally killing him on the spot. In that instant, the trembling liteunant and the privates of the squad rise immediately and start chanrging fast to the enemy line without a second though. And that is a real reaction from us finns. The big reason why our president can go to places without guards, is just that. If they killed our big chief, imagine what would happen. We would just run straight to get our guns and grenades without a second thought and wouldn't stop until we'd be all annihilated or reach Putin and allow him to enter the afterlife through our hand, our bullet. That is Finland. That is like when a mother bear sees someone even walk towards their cubs, even then the mother bear will most likely pummel them to death with untold fury, leaving nothing left of the person or maybe animal. Imagine if mother bear saw someone hurting or killing her cub, that would be ungodly bear spirit fierceness they'd face. Not something you forget in this life nor the next few ones, even if you happened to somehow stay alive through it.
Its funny how you think that our president can walk alone anywhere without guards, but what u dont know is that you just dont see em, because they are everywhere. Most of the guys u see on the streets has a military training. :)
Aww that's awesome, Still to have any space at all is uniquely different for us. Do you guys president have secret service for life afterwards? I'm just a bit curious
