    Carnival in Germany should be experienced in the Rhineland, especially Cologne. Completely different dimensions and experience there. With the perfect weather, the event in Munich looked nice, but very small and tame.

    Going to Cologne just remember: Stuff is going on there Thursday to Monday.... Tuesday is a death day there as far as I know.

    Its so interesting that it stems from celebrating new year. I believe back in those days they had the calender with 13 month that makes way more sense. And March was the first month. Sept(7)ember was the 7th month, Oct(8)ober , Nov(9)ember and Dez(10)ember are named that way. Actually its so stupid to make it 12 month. In the 13 month calender every first day of the month is a monday and every last is a sunday because every month has 28 days, exactly 4 weeks. And at the end of the year you have 1 day to rest or 2 every 4 years.
