    Am I the only one who never really liked Toothless being the alpha? I don’t know why, but it just really bothered me. And the whole aspect of an ALPHA dragon kinda annoyed me a bit. Like yeah, I liked Valka’s Bewilderbeast because it didn’t really order the dragons to do anything. He just fed them, protected them, and gave them shelter. And in turn, the dragons respected him cause he was kind and caring. But for Toothless, we don’t really see him do anything like that at all. In the comics, we see dragons feed HIM cause they’re ‘paying tribute to their new alpha’. And in the third movie, Toothless just roars at any dragon that does something he doesn’t like and they bow to him. (Which also happens in the comics) And let’s not forget him just making ALL the Berk dragons just leave on a whim and not giving a fuck about their human riders. Because what, he SAID so? There wasn’t one dragon that was like ‘no, I’m good, I don’t wanna leave and you can’t make me’. Like I don’t know, that’s just my opinion.

      And even if we don't include this scene Toothless still didn't show himself like good leader. He became one because he challenged Bewilderbeast FOR HICCUP (actually a dubious achievement because Toothless had help from the dragon army and Bewilderbeast wasn't killed, he was simply forced to run away), not because he has enough leadership qualities, actually half of his pack are dragons from Valka's nest and he has absolutely no experience of interacting with them. Cloudjumper would be more suitable in this regard. In the third film, he practically did nothing as an alpha in principle. The only scenes are when he stops Crimson Goregutter (after he destroyed a third of the village and after Hiccup told him) and chasing away Hobbgubler from the soup bowl. Well, there’s also the scene where all the dragons in the Hidden World bow to him because... it’s a night fury??? It makes no sense that these dragons knew of any of his accomplishments from the surface.

  • @Dinologan1015

    They basically just sent them all to die...with The Hidden World having barely any food, no fresh, drinkable water, and limited space...especially if every single dragon in the world was forced down there, that'd include things like other Red Deaths, Bewilderbeasts, Screaming Deaths, etc.
    Also, the dragons as a universal species are all basically keystone species in all their environments; so taking them out would be detrimental.
    It's hard to work around it too as Dean and disembodied narrator Hiccup both say *all* dragons went...which makes no real sense. Toothless isn't an alpha species of dragon, it makes no sense at all how he just became king of all dragons in the entire world, and to add on to the lunacy of it all, was able to call ALL of them in the world to the hidden world.
    Toothless was the alpha of berk's pack because the dragons respected him and were indebted to him for saving them all. He was their pack's alpha out of respect, not because he was an alpha species with any abilities. That also means while he is the alpha of berk's flock specifically, he has no sway or control over any dragons outside his pack - it'd be like calling Hiccup the king of all humans just because he became Berk's chief.
    Furthermore the myth that all dragons came from the hidden world is just that - a myth. They may not have, and if they did originate from there, it must have been millions of years ago. It's like saying how all life came from the ocean, but if you threw an elephant, lion, and a human in the middle of the Atlantic...they'd die.
    They've clearly evolved to be above ground and to fill their own niches in their own ecosystems.
    They also were not in any extinction-level danger to begin with; all the dragons were doing well and thriving when *ALL* humans were hunting them down, and it's only gotten better for them now that various groups of humans have started to work with them and protect them instead of killing them. They'd be in even less danger than they were before, which wasn't even any before. They weren't endangered or anything of the sort beforehand, they'd be in even less danger now.
    And not to mention how most would die down there, aside from the few fish that fall down there the only other food available down there is other dragons, and of course there will be all those dragon-eating dragons down in there too.
    And dragons like speedstingers would die of fall damage at the entrance - if they can even make it that far.
    Buffalord and other dragons with specific dies would die off too, and dragons like skrills will be handicapped too because they won't be able to charge and store lightning from thunderstorms, since they're underground. They'd be defenseless.
    They were all basically put in an unnecessary safe room with no water, barely any food, limited space, and a handful of cannibals...and told never to return to the surface again.

    • @thorodinson6625
      @thorodinson6625 11 месяцев назад +1

      Multiple dragons of all sorts were seen bowing down to Toothless in the hidden world. Pretty sure that means...the hidden world IS good enough to care for all the dragons, so no dragon starved. Yes it's true that outside the hidden world wasn't much different, but some dragons may have moved out for other reasons.
      As to how all the dragons just suddenly disappeared and pretty much nobody knows about them now except Hiccup's friends and descendants, I have no clue. I'm simply saying that the dragons wouldn't have been negatively impacted by this.

    • @Dinologan1015
      @Dinologan1015 10 месяцев назад +4

      @thorodinson6625 There is clear evidence though that they would be negatively effected in more ways than one - only reason any were in there to start and began bowing to toothless (for no reason, might I add), was because of how many plotholes the movie has.
      There clearly isn't enough food in there, or variety of food (things like yaks, sheep, boar, and other foods dragons eat aren't down there for example)
      There wouldn't be enough to supply all of them; especially is several Red Deaths show up.
      And as far as we know, they have no water in there at all: all the water we see being seawater connected to the ocean...which is undrinkable.
      And again, the dozens of dragon-eating species that have tons of cornered prey.

    • @thorodinson6625

      @@Dinologan1015 actually there are a few freshwater lagoons here and there. Plus I do remember there also being insects of various sizes, from regular size to dragon sized in some cases. Then again, there's also fish, which is the most popular dragon prey in this universe. As well as rocks and plants for other creatures. Eh, don't really know. If there wasn't enough food and water for the dragons in the hidden world, all of them would have dipped out after toothless died and the modern world would know about them, not just Rakke Town.

That's why Hiccup says "those who attacked us are crazy, but those that stopped them? even more so." and "bit by bit, we will change this world"
      Now I don't disagree that giving up is the right option sometimes but it doesn't fit into a franchise with two movies, shorts and tv shows about how strong and badass the bond between human and dragon is and how determined they are to fight for it. @@E3257.StudiosEverythingAwesome I did watch the TV series. They fought a lot yes but they also rejoiced in the fact that their war with the dragons was finally over and they were able to spread that relationship to other vikings. Why does it matter that it will never end? They're hot-headed tough vikings. They never gave a crap about fighting before. And like I said, they would continue fighting WITH or WITHOUT dragons. The end of HTTYD2 was literally an acceptance of the fact that they will have to fight but are willing to do so because they love their bond and are willing to fight to be together, always. That's the reality of their relationship and they accepted they were fine with that. And Grimmel isn't a symbol of anything, he's significantly weaker than every enemy faced prior, and he lost, just like everyone that came before them. They could have lived quite happily in New Berk with the threat eliminated but they arbitrarily decided out of the blue that somehow an old greying dude was worse than a mountain sized dragon with mind control. It's thematic whiplash and doesn't make sense after two movies and a tv series where they proudly state how they are willing to fight.
      Once again. Vikings. It's an occupational hazard.

    To be honest, I was asking myself the same question back in 2019 and I thought that all the dragons from the tv series were already in the hidden world but then thinking about it made me wonder if the dragons that we saw in the warlords camp are still trapped or were free. In my headcanon the warlords put the dragons on their ships and were freed when the dragon riders raided the boats, but it made sense when the nine realms season 2 came out and confirmed that all dragons were in the hidden world with the appearance of the Razorwhip and the Skrill.
    And to top it all off Some islands like New berk and the School have hidden worlds on the island so if the islands from the tv series have hidden worlds in them, they should go into those hidden. World just in case they can't fly to the main entrance since it could be too far.
    Also I like the Alpha call headcanon at the end of the third movie, because I think I also remember theorizing that toothless may have done the same roar the berserker bewilderbeast did in the series finale, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that.
