This Redid (yeah, I'm making a froogy sound!) is great for the player on a budget. Sure, add another $150 by getting someone competent to install those Epiphone upgrades mentioned, but for $300, what a guitar!

Groovy, groovy, groovy man! Such great tone from an only $169 (now, thanks Uncle Joe) Amazon guitar! I've been eyeballing one of these myself since discovering it online, and now I'm at the RUclips stage of my research and enjoyed your review! Unfortunately bad timing for me as I'm on a fixed income and just paid my semi-annual property taxes. July and January - the two worst months of the year thanks to taxes and the worst weather extremes. But I digress. Nice to see a fellow three finger technique player! That's the way I learned back in the early 70's, never really developed that fourth finger other than for chords of course. Learned the three finger style for leadwork from the old masters - really enjoyed watching, and hearing you play that beautiful guitar - keep it up Old Boy!

Another interesting vid, and guitar. You fellers need to get a local PBS show. This is fun stuff! I love a semi-hb guitar. Just something about them - especially with the center-block and the buckers. These guitars will do pretty much whatever you might want. Jazz. Country. Rock. Fusion... whatever (except maybe metal). I dig em. And this one is pretty cool. Sounds great. A lot of guitar for $159!

I just got the turquoise one, frets were nicely done and the action and intonation were perfect, nut was cut very well and the finish is impeccable, only thing to do is oil the fretboard and change the strings, first budget guitar I don't have to work on in a long time, pickups sounds sweet, and it has just a little bit thicker neck then my firefly 338, very Gibson like, anyone on the fence about getting one of these, don't be well worth the money,it's heavy guitar though, probably around 8.5 pounds is my guess, great playing Dan.

Nice vid, guitar and playing; Thx for it guys -
Dan, i like to hear electrics unplugged, just a single chord. A guitar that doesn't "ring" clear and long does so plugged in as well. I don't buy such things. If it sounds clear and long i do plug them in and if it sounds bad i can change the pickups, do a little setup and i am good to go in my experience. That's the reason why i asked for it. Well, i can be wrong (would not be the first time) but in the last 50 years i did well with it.
😉 It's always a pleasure to watch your reviews...

Looking good. I appreciate and enjoy your review and playing. After my experience with the IYV IJZ 300 and its extremely crude inner body carving I have a favor to ask. On F hole archtops please take a peak inside the F hole at the interior body and talk about its condition. I bought a Grote 335 style and it's nearly flawless including the inside body finish. I sent the IYV back and the exchange was better but still unsanded and rough. Better than the 1st but seriously poor. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

So there's the Redid you told me about a few weeks ago. It's most certainly a pretty guitar. I'd call the color 'root beer', but that's just my interpretation of it. The price is right too: a lot of guitar for the money. Rich tones. I'd really love my next guitar to be a 335 or an SG. Let me know when you guys do a Redid SG demo, that'll (hopefully) be the deciding factor for me. I like that you guys don't rip the cheaper guitars apart like so many others do and that you show how they usually are playable and that they can and do sound pretty good. Good enough for me anyway. Thanks Fellas! Outstanding demo...AGAIN!!! Have a great weekend!

I got the Redid SG in seafoam green (as I call it) and I was floored by how perfect it was. I'm almost afraid to get a scratch on it. @@leodanryan966 Yours is the only color I don't have...yet. I have a 335 in the same green color, and in orange. I think the picture on Amazon doesn't do it justice. The only problem I see is the stopbar posts not being fully seated. I have several Gibson style guitars with stopbars and they have the same issue. In one case, the posts came out of their holes when tuning increased the tension. Have you ever closely checked the stopbar (tailpiece) posts on any of yours to see if they're secure? Thanks!

I’m sorry I didn’t answer sooner. Please understand that I only spend about 30 minutes with these guitars. There are so many variations of “Rosewood” now that it makes it difficult to gauge the neck in that brief a time. Generally, if I have a problem with the neck I’ll mention it. Otherwise, I’ll just take the manufacturer at their word.

Curious to what Dan's effect chain is on "Smooth Jazz Ballad Backing Track in D Minor"
I perceive compression, mild distortion, and a small amount of reverb. But I would like to know what he is using for sure.

    • @leodanryan966

Thanks very much for watching once again and for your kind question. Dan is using a Fender Mustang LT25 modeling amp, but before he was using a Fender Mustang GT 100w modeling amp. He always used only two patches from either amp. Fender clean for clean tones (clean with a little reverb) and Boosted Brit for dirty tones. The LT25 doesn't have Boosted Brit, so he recreated it as best he could, and your assessment is pretty darn correct 😉👍!

Thanks very much Ron for watching, sometimes we get that complaint, all I can suggest is listen on a louder device, or maybe with a Bluetooth headset. I can't make it be louder my friend 😎👍!

I ordered the Brown version of that guitar just received it today and I have to tell you they've improved the packing 1000%.They now have a styrofoam piece of foam that's the same thickness and size of the box that is cut to the exact shape of the guitar and it is squeezed into that. The shipper would have to break the Box in half to damage the guitar or crush it flat. For $169.00 this is a beautiful looking guitar I have not had chance to set it up yet only tuned it and played a few chords on it I think it's going to be fantastic I plan on putting better humbuckers in it add new tuners that will trim and lock automatically thanks for your video I kept my fingers crossed and hope for a good one and it looks like I too received a nice guitar for the money
