Hey Fitzbro, as you said to mention some things I'm trying on the ladder -- I've been using the towers vs certain civs plus the new version of the scouting falcon to harass woodlines. Build tower behind woodline where they can't see you, shoot a falcon and garrison the scouts into the tower. With falcon vision the tower shoots over the forest onto them. Unload and repeat as scouting falcon runs out.
They usually will go to a different woodline after evacuating the first, so I try to build a tower in advance on the next woodline so it's ready for when they move woodlines.
To double produce scouts it's less resources and less stone than spearmen. Some opponents have been calling me "nasty" for this strategy.
The follow up is usually some version of infantry counter after going feudal, and getting siege engineering for a ram or two for buildings. Alternatively, keshik on one group with the scouts + archers on another group to shoot over woodlines also works. Mangudai don't harass as well due to their shorter range, and the higher food cost is very demanding.
I haven't perfected the strategy yet, but it's been getting fun on ladder.

Good strat i found is just food and wood tower horseman rush eithh only 2 ln gold.
Once feudal starts get a market and keep producing horseman, spearmen, archers till the market is moving. Deer stones of course. None stop harrass till the market is moving for keshiks then transition all to gold units

Hello mr.Fitz, your guide is as good as always!
I've been obsessing over trying to make a 7 scout opening into pro.scouts with mongols. Using scouts agressivly to get early Bunti to catch up / idle opponent and force dark age response.
Then once pro scouts is researched, start taking all the hunts, especially the one near the opponent base (as scouts should be nearby due to the harass and keeping the opponent scouted.)
With Imp.Survival techniques which is pretty affordable, i do notice a massive boost with the food econ. Usually hit castle age in normal mongol-timing.
Now I am no conq level player, So far reached Diamond.
But I'm curious from someone with better skillset than me in the game. Do you think it can work?
I do notice it is highly unusual, not always optimal, but I do find the very early raid bunti gathered to help greatly ontop of the very early harassment put on the opponent.
Scouts are cheaper than Spearmen, and they have added bonus as functioning as "econ-units" with pro.scouts.
The biggest challange for me is the multitasking. (making sure your scouts dont chase after vills into TC range and keeping that production qeued at all times, managing your base building ontop of having 7 scouts running around the map)
If your curious about how I go about the build order, I have a warm-up/practice Skirmish match again AI, on dry arabia today, IGN: Kameho.
Again, thanks for your great guides, they are helpfull! Especially your COH3 stuff really helped me out! (I also play COH3)

I have seen scouts enter the meta again for Mongol openings. I think it depends on if the opponent builds a dark age barracks to hard counter you. The extra raid bounty is certainly nice as well as the line of sight and potential for pro scouts. With Mongols, I just move my vills to the deer and keep map control/LOS around their base personally. If they are constantly putting out raids, they won't be attacking you.
Thanks for sharing your ideas, will have to try it out!

@@FitzBro Thanks for the feedback! Making the opponent make a barrack and start building spearmen is exactly what I want. If they do so, I tend to find a Stealth forest if possible near the opponent base. Build a tower there and lure the opponent spearmen into the tower, and trying to bleed them out without having to sink to much resources myself.
One reason I am practicing this build a lot is that I find it to be very good practice in training my Macro and Micro at the same time, and be able to handle multiple unit commands around the map. So it's great training if anything!
