I did that HW mod on my OSSC 1.6 today, hoping to get rid of these nasty short sync drops when switching to another video mode. Many ST/Falcon or Amiga demos are switching between laced and interlaced modes. But that wire mod and FW 1.09 doesn't help with this issue unfortunately! It even brings more problems while video capturing with OBS Studio (no such problems when connecting to monitor though, apart from the sync drops of course ^^)! So I stepped back to original HW and FW 0.90 and the new problems I had with OBS were gone! So If you're dealing with demos (or other software which switches video modes) and want to capture with OBS, I really don't recommend this mod!
I guess we won't be getting any more updates for the OSSC without needing to be moded. I spend money on this for nothing pretty much because the last update, 0.81a, didn't do much justice.

That's sad to hear, good to hear your experience. I wish i could have something like a Retrotink 4K
Can you do an update on this with the latest fw? Does the latest firmware update the dropouts during PS1 and PS2 and SS games?
I will have to try with DOA on saturn.

It's still an issue on this but i haven't tried it with the latest firmware. I do have a PS1/PS2 but don't have chrono cross
