@@alexdoule8671 I was gonna say that laws probably got more looser, but then remembered canonically the rules are actively stricter, just no one cares about gun laws
@@monkey_doodoo1198 I'm pretty sure gun laws in 2077 is just have gun license and don't shoot anyone that isn't registered as a wanted criminal. I'm not sure about the license.
@@twinodoom in cyberpunk red (the ttrpg made in combination with cd project red) the government requires you to register the gun, get a background check and then you’re responsible for everything that happens with that gun, they then follow it up by saying that those rules are ignored and barely enforced
Night City technically doesn't have any "laws". Or let's say its complicated. The NUSA is pretty upset that night city even exist because it's mainly controlled by Arasaka. Militech and the NUSA have not that much influence in night city. I have absolutely no idea under what "laws" the cops even operate. The NCPD operates under Arasaka rules and Netwatch under the NUSA but not really. Netwatch is complicated. Yeah this was an unnecessary lore dump. Hope you enjoyed. Or not.
@@kirbyis4ever The answer is more complicated than you might think. The "law" in night city is everything Arasaka says it's the law. Ok here comes a very long explanation. Night city wasn't originally called that. It was built in 1998 and was called Coronada City. Ironically enough it was built by Richard Night and it was meant to be a crime less city with strict laws and rule enforcement. Yes really. But this is the Cyberpunk universe. The local mops assassinated Night and his wife renamed the city to Night city in his honor. But again this is cyberpunk and corporations became more influencial and basically driven out all the mop leaders. The unification war was the opportunity for Arasaka to stand their ground. Interesting lore fact Arasaka is hated in Japan. They reason for that is Arasaka tried to get rid of the Japanese government but it failed. So they made Night city their stronghold during the unification war. The NUSA won the war for the most part but night city is still under Arasaka control. So the current version of the city V lives in is a mix of old laws that have been in place since forever. But it's up to the corporation to decide what is actually legal and what not. If a corpo wants you gone nobody is coming looking for you. Yes I know this is long winded. But this universe has so much lore it's insane. Even this is a condensed version.
@@requiemagent3014 Trust me, when it comes to expansive universes like Cyberpunk I know that the lore is expensive. Books, tabletop games, the videogame; id expect answers to be long winded. Neat to know the name "Night City" was adopted from the late founder.
its not illegal to kill people in night city if theyre criminals, because they have bounties set by the pd, so anyone whos in a gang is completely legal to murk
22:15 I had the same situation, I advance in the story so fast that none of my gun can deal any damage to him, and the only thing that did is a knife (1% health per 3 hits), so I simply spend 15 minutes shanking him to death.
My first playthrough (2.0, Very Hard as a netrunner) I immediately rushed to the All Foods mission at some absurdly low level simply because I figured that if it was this early I would be fine. I was very wrong.
I would love to see someone try to count and track every single crime committed by V if you play through the whole game 100% it and then the expansion Phantom liberty
7:50 you are passing 2 car and I belive you have to keep a high speed after passing them to avoid cutting them off. so accelerating after the pass is 100% legal XD plus, if you dont open fire first, being a solo, you technicaly speaking are performing self defence against a few hooligans XD
Cool in the beginning, didn't get past it though because of my tiktok-ahh attention span. like seriously. I like the dry humor but you could have made the vid a bit faster progressing.
So 2 things in America you could of used that are legal. Turn signals are not required, you’re just an ass for not using them. And you can shoot someone if they shoot first or you feel like your life is on the line, you would have to argue your case in court if you do shoot someone
To be fair if they shoot at you first its self defense
Nah, cyberpunk takes place in California. They don't let ya do that there.
@@alexdoule8671 I was gonna say that laws probably got more looser, but then remembered canonically the rules are actively stricter, just no one cares about gun laws

Mercenary work and self defense would not count as crime. And letting Jackie kill your opponents still counts as a crime.
