They were never any better than when Mark and Danny were singing with them and thats because all 4 of them knew who they were singing about and lived it on and off stage
BEAUTIFUL WITH THE WHOLE TEAM, GEORGE, GLEN, MARK, AND DANNY, AND OF COURSE THE LITTLE GIANT GEROLD ON THE PIANO. I WAS A ORGANIST IN CHURCH AND MY MOM THE PIANIST. SHE PLAYED THE ORGAN WHEN THE CHIOR WAS SINGING AND I LEAD THE MUSIC. I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO SEE MY JESUS AND THEN THE ONES WHO RAISED ME. I DO HAVE TO GIVE MY MOST LIVE TO JESUS CHRIST AND THE FATHER GOD. I'M KINDA LIKE DANNY, I DIDNT REALY KNOW WHAT CHURCH WAS ABOUT TILL I GAVE MY HEART TO MY JESUS CHRIST AND THEN THINGS STARTED FALLING IN PLACE. BUT THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC OF MY LORD IS WHAT REALY KEPT ME IN LINE WITH THE LORD. BUT I STILL THANK GEORGE AND GLEN AND THE REST OF THE GAITHERS, I LOVE THEM ALL. I PRAY THAT I SEE THEM ALL IN HEAVEN BUT MOST OF ALL MY MOM AND DAD. I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO SEE MY LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST AND OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.
I know im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any assistance you can give me!
So many talented people were a part of the cathedrals over the years but I would agree with you. This is my favorite lineup. Danny had such a pure tenor voice
Danny the greatest of all time was once eyed & wanted by The Kingsmen when he was with those Singing Americans. The Kingsmen started announcing Danny Funderburk before he arrived he hadn't made a decision yet so he turned them down. Jim Hamill told him you couldn't sing high enough for us anyways. But that's ok wasn't long until he got a call from George Younce & Glen Payne asking him to join The Cathedral Quartet. Charles Burke owner of The Singing Americans pushed him to join the Cathedrals! They was the hottest gospel group on the road at the time. I'm glad he did brought us the best combination of a Quartet ever. And this great song that's still magic today. Not taking away nothing from Ernie but even though Ernie became George Younce's Son In Law he told Danny Funderburk he was the best & greatest tenor the Cathedrals ever had even though Ernie became my Son In Law!
Indeed! I personally prefer hearing Cathedrals live, wrong words and all! Way more expression live. I can understand Glen starting with the wrong verse because the band played the key of the first verse.
Came back here a couple years later to say, the band actually started correctly in the key of the second verse. Sorry band :). So now I don't know why Glen started to sing the first verse. But ah well! Glory to God!
Miss you guys, just look at your tesimony, this video has been on RUclips only 6 months and has already had over 6000 hits!! We need more old timey gospel music that honor's GOD. I'll take the old-time way, what was wrong with it!! It works. Praise God, HIS LOVE is an ENDLESS love that Touches me!!
Jesus' love reached down and touched me one December 21st! I stepped over the line from eternal death to eternal life! Woooo. Thank U Jesus! I ain't got over it yet - 43 years ago. Unsaved folks have no idea what all they are missing. I've talked SG fans who clap to the music but have no convincing salvattion story - still lost.
wow, this brings back memories, I am crying as i hear it, my mother and i would ride in the car when I was 14 15 years old and listen to the catherdrals (My favorite group) on a casette tape, I mis her so much that it hurts, I know i will see her again. Bitter sweet memories.
What a night in Winston Salem NC they had recording issues new songs One of the best shows I ever saw The Lord came down with such an anointing on the service. Got to see it Live Listen to Roger on Piano
Roger passed away on March 17, 2007, from complications related to leukemia. He had last received a bone marrow transplant in November of 2006. His condition seemed to be improving, but complications developed, and now he has gone to be with the Lord!
The title of the song is "Healing" (written by Roger Bennett). I think the line you're thinking of is "...the ills of my body were healed by the stripes on His back..." It's a powerful song, as so many of Roger's are.
It looks to me like the guys (especially Glen) are reading the words from "cue cards" on the front row when singing the verses. I've got this video at home and will try to remember to look to see if you can see them when they do the over-the-shoulder camera shot from on-stage near the end of the song.
They were all gifted. Glen had a beautiful lead voice. I remember George when he sang bass for The Blue Ridge Quartet. I remember seeing Mark Trammill but not with the Cathedrals. Did he sing with the Florida Boys or another group? I'm around quite a few gospel singers locally who go to the National Quartet Convention and I do keep up with all the ones who have passed away. Can you imagine the Heavenly choir and what they sound like now with all the great ones who have gone before us?
Letra para Boundless Love por The Cathedrals There is not a mother, sister, friend, or brother Loves the way that Jesus can He proved His love for me when He died on Calvary He gave His life for fallen man His love (His love) is a boundless love And it reaches down and touches me His love (He love) is an endless love That will last for all eternity Jesus wants to love you, there is none above you You are precious in His sight He will never fail you when the doubts assail you He'll be with you day and night Jesus wants to love you, there is none above you You are precious in His sight He will never fail you when the doubts assail you He'll be with you day and night
I guess people stand as they are comfortable. In the Nelons case, I usually saw Kelly (alto) standing next to her dad, Rex (bass). On the other side of Kelly would be the soprano, then the tenor at the other end.
Love Danny! What a wondrous voice!!!😍

I just love watching (and hearing) this quartet sing! Like George once said," If this song don't light your fire, your woods wet!"
Danny has often performed at my home church. Probably the best Tenor in the business and a humble and God Fearing man.
This clip just proves what a great Quartet man Mark Trammell really is!
My guy just slipped into verse 1 with Glen as though he was singing it all along! Love him.
Mot often did he not have his bass strapped on.
This song is amazing with four of the greatest singers ever. Roger is a great piano player. Love, love this song
This was the Cathedrals line-up that I cut my teeth on as a teenager. Still a fan after all these years!!
Amen, Brother, me too!! Thank You, Jesus, for loving us!!
This is this group's best ever sound 4 of the greatest voices to ever join forces their voices go great together or solely

LOVE the Cathedrals...1 of the top groups of all time! This song makes you put on your dancing shoes. lol
The look on Danny's face when Glenn starts the wrong verse is priceless. Nothing beats live.
Lol .. He was horrified
Indeed! I personally prefer hearing Cathedrals live, wrong words and all! Way more expression live. I can understand Glen starting with the wrong verse because the band played the key of the first verse.
Haha! Yep... Just go with it 👍
Came back here a couple years later to say, the band actually started correctly in the key of the second verse. Sorry band :). So now I don't know why Glen started to sing the first verse. But ah well! Glory to God!

I thought the order of modern Quartets are Tenor, Lead, Baritone and bass? Why is it Tenor, baritone, lead and bass?
Sam Chastain : Cuz George and Glen r best friends thru the yrs they sung together
I guess people stand as they are comfortable. In the Nelons case, I usually saw Kelly (alto) standing next to her dad, Rex (bass). On the other side of Kelly would be the soprano, then the tenor at the other end.
when did rodger pass
2007
This was a little boring don't you think?! Nah just kidding lol!!
Was it this group who recorded We Shall See Jesus?
pamela malec yes, originally recorded by the Cathedral Quartet on “Live In Atlanta”
pamela malec yes
Trammell used to sing with The Kingsmen at one point.
