I was an art student in Norwich in the late 70s. A good friend of mine also at the art school was staying in Southwell lodge ( a student accomodation block now demolished ) attached to City College. He was terrified one evening to see a tortured face at his window with a rope around it's neck, it was very brief, but scared the daylights out of him, this was on the second floor so could not have been a student prank, I still get the shivers when he relates this story to me. I often wonder what was at this site many years previously.

That is super creepy! I havent got a clu e of what may have happened over at the Southwell lodge but sounds like something probably somewhat tragid must have happened which is why the ghost of perhaps still wanders around the site...

the young girl in tombland actually never choked to death! i believed she did for a while cause it’s such a common ghost story but i went on the shoebox tour and they told us documents were discovered that actually showed that the girl survived the entire 5 months and was sent to an institute of some sort because she was considered crazy - she lived out the rest of her life there, which i think is even sadder :(
p.s i’m a direct descendant of robert kett but i never knew he haunted anywhere so this was super interesting - loved this video!!

I could be wrong but I remember hearing that The Adam and Eve is also haunted by Lord Sheffield's dog. My mum was once tapped on the shoulder from behind while her back was to a wall, and it was not possible for anyone to have been behind her, while also feeling a dog rub up against her leg. There was no dog anywhere to be seen. Chantry Place is also supposed to be pretty haunted. I've heard some stories. Great video. 🙂

Animal ghosts are the sweetest. Rita, the landlady at the Adam and Eve says she hasn't had any ghostly experiences herself. The most recent time I was there was after work, with colleagues. We were in the downstairs part which is usually cordoned off and it did feel a bit eerie.

i found this trip around some of norwich's haunted places enjoyable. what spoilt this upload for me where the silly inserts and sounds...i felt that they really werent needed to make this a good vid. The "cryptic Escape" building used to be an old antique shop for many years and it was known to be very haunted by an old woman according to the elderly owner. Also What was once the "Sampson and Hercules" nightclub next door to it was a plague pit and apparently haunted.

Thank you! Sorry about the silly sounds. You are not the first one to mention it but Im still currently experimenting stuff/effects/sounds/etc and it is a bit unclear what to use and what not to. I do try to listen to my audience as much as possible of course and hopefully ill be moving forwards according to their wishes too.. Also great to hear about those 2 haunted places too:)

I just started a job at the Cryptic Escape rooms and the story of the grey ghost is terrifying and more so now I work there. We have a room based upon Emily and her family tragedy and honestly scared me to heck doing it today. Was much funnier when I got to host the game and watch the cameras to laugh at other people aha.

As a kid about 14 off the Earlham Estate we use to go to Earlham park in the 70's to play football. One night while walking back home i swear I saw a face at an upstairs window of Earlham Hall well after hours, which vanished as I looked directly at it. I told this to a guy I worked with years later and he said he had been a security guard at the UEA and when they had to lock up the Earlham Hall they always went in 2s as there were always something happening there. Doors opening and closing, lights coming on and off and footsteps around when no one was there.
My Aunt also swore she saw a man in full Cavalier outfit in the downstairs area of the UEA library, she was a cleaner there and didn't think anything of it as she thought it was students playing around. Right up until it disappeared Infront of her.
The old Norwich Brewery site on King Street also had some activity as a worker on the early shift on the bottling plant said he was a figure by the machinery when he came in early one morning to start the machines up. He said the figure didn't pay any attention to him when he called out and when he got a closer look the figure was about 3 to 4 feet off the ground which was on the upper floor of the building. It was worked out that it would have been around the height of the top of the monastery that use to stand on the site so could have been a monk.

Really nice seeing all the various areas... Liked the comment about typewriters being heard in the night - I had to look up "Edwards Three Mile House" for someone and I noticed a comment by one of the staff on the website. Seems Tom was fond of making noise in the kitchen at times and he discovered he could really irritate members of the staff by turning the crank on an old coffee grinder from time to time. Was a very interesting place, with multiple ghosts residing there. Like many very active hauntings, the building eventually caught fire. Afterwards the brick walls were knocked down and nothing but a mound left where it was now. Oh, friend wants me to mention this - NEVER hold a seance in a place that is already active, as there is no telling who it is that is communicating with you. Could end up with the same sort of "nasty" that tried to move in at Three Mile House. It would pound on the roof from time to time and liked scaring the staff as they were crossing parking lot to their cars at night.

Many Thank's Wesley for this very long and informative comment! I am glad to have read about those extra details on some of the haunted places:) It was really a pleasure to visit and film in Norwich and yes, I do have to admit it was a little bit scary at times. And also thanks for the tip for the seances! Ive never held one but I am very interested in it and probably will give it a go at some point but I will surely be careful with the location.. The people that did do it in the house probably weren't doing the right thing then I suppose.

@@ghostfindergeneral9851 The family that owned the Tavern lived there in the building. They became friendly with the ghosts and had little troubles; while the ghosts bothered the staff at times(a customer had a glass of beer poured on them) they didn't do anything malicious that would frighten people. The trouble started with teenage daughter who invited friends from school over one afternoon. Ghosts weren't being cooperative so they got out a Oighaboard and started messing around with that - they got replies from questions right away and suddenly there were loud banging noises as something started pounding on the roof. After that, the staff started getting bad case of the creeps at night. Tom and investigators said there was a spirit trying desperately to get inside the building - pounding on the roof and things seen outside at night clearly not the work of a human spirit. The ghosts did what they could to protect people there. The family eventually had to sell the tavern because of stress and bills; it caught fire about a month later, as new owner was getting ready to rehab parts of it(building probably over 100 years old). it is said that several ghosts left with the family.

@@wesleysale1052 Massive thank's again for this Wesley! Obviously you have got a lot of knowledge about Norwich hauntings. Ouija boards can be very dangerous. I have never tried one and to be frank, Im not even sure I dare to but I gotta see.. Apparently a lot of ghosts are friendly yes, but I have heard that ouija board does have the tendency to attract negative spirits..

At one time, 19 Magdalen St. was occupied by Ron's Reptiles. Ron told me that 'ghost hunters. who were numerous, would remark about the strong scent of lavender around the doorway. Ron never disillusioned them, but it was from the bucket of water he daily sloshed over urine left there by the previous nights drinkers. He would offer to lock them in there overnight, but nobody ever did it; and yes, he did experience things, like footsteps climbing a staircase that wasn't there.
