Fan-bloody-tastic!! Pure 'Northern' muscle. As a southerner in early 70's, you never saw these heavy weights unless you went to Paddington or Kings Cross, or venture up North and then mostly only shuttling in yards. So never saw them at full flight... Thanks!
Thats beacuse they are 2 stroke and opposed piston engines. They are based on the Napier marine engine , used by the Royal and US Navies amongst others , and the design was influenced by a German WW2 bomber aero engine.
