Exactly. When people ask me how long it takes me to make a briefcase I say 5 full days. Why? Well, among other things because a proper handle is actually sculpted, it's a sculpture. They don't understand.
Absolutely fantastic work. Thank you for sharing your talent!
You do beautiful work!
Great video. Thank you. Best regards, Richard
Excelent work!!
That's a clean work keep going
Really nice work.
Lovely
This handle and execution is beyond beautiful! Would you by any chance be willing to share or sell the pdf template? Thanks a lot in advance!
When gluing layers of the relief filler, are you gluing flesh-side to flesh-side or grain-side to grain-side, or does it matter? I am in the process of making a stock of 6 mm relief blanks and am considering layering flesh-side to grain-side, thinking this will assist with a more natural bend.
I have the same knife as you and I found that my other similar style knife, which is 6 times cheaper is sharper and retains sharpness longer than the expensive one. The Japanese store owner told me that if the knife is expensive, no guarantee that it will sharper than the cheaper one and also depends on sharpening the knife.
I think more expensive knives usually have harder steel. Which makes it retain sharpness for longer. But the downside is making it more difficult to sharpen too. But yes, there’s no guarantee.

Really nice video. What were you using to apply the edge finish?
Thanks. I used leather dye and then burnished it with Tokonole.
Beautiful job. What surface do you cut on? It looks very durable.
Thanks. It’s just a normal clear cutting mat.
Beautiful! How did you get the paper template to stick on the leather? I hope we get to see the full build on video!!
Thanks! The template was printed on sticky paper. You could also cut it out of normal paper but leave an edge to put on some double-sided tape. I don't directly use sticky paper on leather surface when it's the exterior of the product.
For chrome-tanned only. you can use rubber cement lightly on the paper template and stick to leather and it will not be stuck to leather, but not the Veggie tanned leather. For veggie tanned, you can use scotch tape outside the cutting line to hold the paper with the leather. or test if it is disfigured the leather surface.
The product is very nice, can you tell me what type of knife you are using? And where is it sold? Thank you very much!
It’s a custom knife. I don’t think it’s sold online. But you can send me an email if you’re interested.
How wide is this handle?
Where can I download paper templates and measurements please?
I'd love a handle template as well!
