The lyrics of this song so perfectly fit the bluegrass genre. lots of religious imagery, and dark subjects. I would suspect some old bluegrassers around here would love the song ,never having heard the original.

I have enjoyed listening to this version so much for a long time.
Driving to work each morning it was my go to track and I sang along like no one was watching.
I feel kind of guilty for the value I have had from this performance and I haven't paid a bean for it.

I called in this song request at WICB (Ithaca College Ithaca NY) bluegrass/folk program "The Hobo's lullaby" . The DJ said that he's making Iron Horse get air play every week. I also love their covers of Led Zeppelin and Modest mouse
A great song transcends style of music. And therefore becomes a timeless classic.
It's weird how 4 instruments change a song completely. They make it seem as if though the song was originally written for these instruments!! Very cool

I bought the Fade To Bluegrass album some years ago, and although I bought it originally for the Metallica content, I loved it more for the bluegrass. You guys are incredible! My grandfather was an old-school, quiet, steadfast type (think: John Wayne with Buddy Holly's ears.) His favorite music was homespun & bluegrass, and we both loved Fade To Bluegrass. Thanks for giving us a common soundtrack.

I bought Fade to Bluegrass about 10yrs ago I think but I can't recall for sure. But I do remember that I paid $27 for it on an impulse and it was worth every penny. It is so wore out that it'll only play in my sony blu ray player. BEST cover song album I've ever listed to.
