This game was so hard for me as a kid. I hated it so much. I thought the zoombinis were cute, but the puzzles kicked my butt, and their deaths crushed me.
I can remember when I was 9 I played GTA IV and could never pass the first mission because I didn't know how to use the map and I actually drived carefully and whenever I ran someone over in the car I would be *destroyed*

@@justnatsuki8654 the port of the remastered version (at least for Android) is really solid. As someone who enjoyed this game and has strong nostalgia for it, I was impressed with it. Worth giving it a go, only ~$3! And still offers challenges even for adults (but it does get repetitive after a while as a heads up).
I remember I called my mom to take me home from a friend's house when I was younger because I was "homesick". I wanted to play this game. This was an awesome nostalgia trip, thank you.
hey moose, one of my favorite childhood games is a little gem called Jumpstart SpyMasters: Unmask the Prankster ~ it's a scifi&spy knowledge game where you're in a futuristic lab at the beginning and then when you go on missions, you are exploring ancient ruins and things of the like as you destroy evil robots scattered throughout the land and hunt down the villain behind it all. I think you'd definitely enjoy it, so I hope you see this! :)
probably my favorite part of brutal moose is that these video's don't loose any entertainment value without the visuals you can just play it in the background
Brutalmoose I have to thank you for something. I came to your channel by chance after I saw the collab you did with Caddicarus. I subscribed to you for a while but never really went through your video library until one of the reccomended videos was you playing Pajama Sam, and at that moment all the memories came flooding back. Even when I was little I was a gamer, and I grew up with Humongous Entertainment. I played Pajama Sam, Freddi Fish, and Putt Putt, and always wanted to play Spy Fox, but I could never find a copy. After I outgrew Humongous Entertainment, I played a new game, and believe it or not, it was Zoombinies. As time went on I outgrew these games as well, and my childhood games faded out of memory. But after watching every single one of your HE videos and this one, I can only say, thank you so much for helping me relive my childhood.

Fun fact: The company that created this and Amazon Trail and the 3rd edition of Oregon Trail was owned by Kevin O'Leary from Shark Tank. His company bought it and took its name in 1995.
This was one of my favorite computer games as a kid! The ever increasing challenge of the puzzles really kept it from getting stale for me. It's so fun to see you play it yourself. It's bringing back a lot of good memories and makes me want to see if I can find my copy and give it another go!
This is actually different for the remake! In the original you can make two the same, but the remake doesn't allow this. Also you mentioned making them based on patterns doesn't seem to help, but as the stages get harder, it's almost required to figure out some of the logic that's used, and having cues to assist (the carrot dudes having similar hair, etc) really helps. I'd recommend playing through to get to a couple of the harder difficulties, because that's really where the game shines. This was a total staple of my childhood, and loved seeing you make a video on it as well as enjoying the game!
SUPER.00D.M0NK3Y.24 GAM31NG It becomes super easy. Based on only changing one or two variables of the Zoombini's looks, you only need to worry about those two variables. But some puzzles (like the pizza one) don't change.
man Zoombinis was the shit in the computer lab. Firing that up on the old fruity imacs was always a highlight of they day next to Sim City. I also recall another Zoombini game that was a lot less fun than the full game but I don't really remember enough...
I remember playing this after school and on the weekends. I never realized that I was playing on the harder levels until I saw this video ( I was like 6 or 7). The nostalgia is getting to me. I’ll probably end up buying this and playing it just so I can re-explore my childhood memories.
Got that game in a grocery store when I was in elementary school, and I've had... some fun with it, until the pizza troll started freaking me out and I couldn't sleep at night. My dad couldn't stand to see me struggle and threw the game away... so I bought the remastered version on Steam some time ago, and it's... not scary at all. Makes you wonder what went on in child me's head.
I have vague memories of playing this game on a field trip to a science center or something. I got a little freaked out at how you lost Zoombinis after you screwed up, and since I couldn't figure out the puzzle, I left the computer terminal behind and went to go look at another exhibit before I wiped my entire party. For years, those vague memories would surface from time to time, but I could never remember what it was called, and the computer exhibit had long since been replaced, so as far as I could tell, this game didn't exist. I feel astonishingly validated- and also I really want to pick this game up and give it a proper go.
Matthew Michalski Dude your not the only one that played Zoombinis. I too played in Elementary school. Also scholastic was a great brand for child's books.

Keeping Zoombinis the same with one feature really helps in levels 3 and 4 of the first segment where the Allergic Cliffs you can keep it like level 1 and the Stone Guardians same! :) The Pizza one is still process of elimination sadly and I can get it most times on my VERY last try left where the Zoombini is slammed against the machine.
I played this game only once when I was really young and have always had a vague memory of it but never knew what it was called or anything. Years later, after giving up on ever finding out what this game even was I finally found it here. Just gave a nice highlight to my evening.
I played a Zoombini game when I was a kid. I guess it was a sequel to this one since the one I played had you help the Zoombinis catapult up a mountain, set two clocks to the correct times (for reasons I forget), navigate butterflies through a flower maze to pollinate flowers at the other end of the puzzle and help the Zoombinis procreate. Literally, since there was a game where it showed a 2x2 square and you had to pair up the Zoombinis to create the indicated Zoombini.
