  • Today's video is about Evidence based learning method to study USMLE and achieve high score. I unpacked my top 3 evidence-based learning techniques for USMLE.
There are a lot of people that achieve high score in USMLE and gives you multiple different tactics and study schedule, me included. This may have confused a lot of USMLE aspirants. However, after I did some research and examined how other high scorers did it, apparently, I found that we are not that much different after all. The fundamental principles stay the same. as long as you follow the evidence-based learning method, I believe you will also achieve high score in USMLE!

Great video. How we use Uworld? 1. System or random ,tutor or timed mode?2. Do we take note from Uworld and write it in first aid as it is very time consuming or just red explanation and move on without taking any note in first aid .3. If we don’t take any Uworld note how we revise those huge question bank ,as we forgot those information after couple of days ?reading explanation is ok for me but taking note from Uworld in very time consuming, and I struggle with this.if possible you can make a video about those topics.

      Thank you and great questions!
      1. The concept here is you want to always build the knowledge based first then go for time mode. If you only use uworld as the study material (like most people in step 2 ck), then system, tutor mode first. Try to get to time mode as early as possible. The latest would be once you done with half of the qbank. Why half? Its simple, uworld qs are repeated. So if you have done half of them, almost guaranteed you have seen almost all of them. Your knowledge should be all set, and you should go for time mode.
      2. This is problem of retention/retaining information. This is the topic of my next video, planning to release it next week. But basically, you dont waste any time when you write those explanation to put it in your note, that is actually the learning part which you have to do. I use anki, I put all my note in anki and review it in active and space repetition manner. Again, it doesnt matter, u can use notion, google spreadsheet, but there has to be active recall and space repetition, because its evidence based, u will do much better with this.
      Hope that answer your question!

Thank you .1.Do we do Uworld system wise or random mode for step1 as an img? 2.For USMLE step 1 to build knowledge base first do we read step 1 Uworld note/ tables & images/educational objectives first which was found on some external source then do Uworld.?3. what is your thought of doing off line Uworld & some youtube channel’s Uworld question solving video first to build knowledge and then do online Uworld for step 1?4. A how much time we give to solve a Uworld question or a block of 40 question to solve question and read the explanation ? 5.. Some suggestion for your video topic - “how much information Anki we use for USMLE step 1/ how we use Anki for Uworld ? , How we take note from Uworld on USMLE step 1/ how much information we put in our note for Uworld for USMLE ?; How we use Uworld on USMLE step 1?; In which format we take note time efficiently from Uworld?”

@@javedimran568 thank you for the questions and suggestions!
      1. if you already have build all of your knowledge (you go through all the materials of step 1) then you should do random. if you use uworld only as the source (without Boards and beyond or other fundamental videos for step 1)then system wise (only half of them) then random mode. note that this technique is consistent throughout most advisors and tutors including me, they just use a little bit different study resource, but the principles are the same (build knowledge, then do questions).
      2. interesting actually, are you able to make those external uworld information in system-wise without giving away the questions? if yes, based on the principles that I have, its potentially doable. structure is important, human brain easier to follow when there is structure, your ability to recall is also faster. however, I assume its hard to do the external source and read educational objective without somewhat giving away the answer, you lose a chance to test yourself while doing uworld. again, uworld is learning tool (as most advisors said), but at the same time, it is an assessment tool and you should master the test taking skills (you need to show improvement in your score at the last couple blocks)
      3. this answer same as above, can you build a structure on it? videos are very structured, if you go biochem for example, you start with dna-rna-protein, how they are made, then collagen synthesis, etc. so its easy to follow. unstructured learning can confuse people especially for step 1 as you are building fundamental. there is a reason they make a course and why a course is pricey -> the structure and roadmap, there are steps to follow and make it easy for people.
      4. 40 qs is 1 block, but the review may take 3-4 hours if you use my technique (see my video on how I review usmle qbank) ruclips.net/video/JdrhO45ooXI/видео.html
      5. great suggestions! actually, I already made all of these video, they just need to be edited and released. i actually show how i set my anki (the optimize settings to study), how I put info to anki as we go through the uworld information.
      6. which format we take note time efficiently from uworld: my personal preference is digital in anki. but there are some fundamental principles you need to understand, i plan to explain it in the next video: how to retain concepts in usmle efficiently

@javedimran568 hi Just to let you know that the next video " how to retain usmle concepts effectively" will be delayed for 1 week. I will post different video instead, which would be how I go over uworld explanation with a sample question!
