    I 100% feel you on the treadmill market being stuck in the 1990s and there being no innovation going on. Completely makes sense why I haven’t been able to find a quality treadmill unless one is willing spend 5 grand and up.

      Have to agree. It feels like you're having to make do with whatever is out there at the moment. I love the specs of a Nordictrack incline trainer, but just read the reviews out there in terms of reliability and the bounce if you go above 9mph. I've decided to go with a Bowflex, it doesn't have the bounce issue, but then only goes to 20 deg incline. Short of that it's a used Freemotion i11.9 (30%) or the New Freemotion i22 (30%) which is like £14k, so not a option.

    You should call NordicTrack and get the issue where it jumps all over the place when you hit 10 mph. My X22i does not do that. Check to make certain your base is level and if you still have the problem contact NordicTrack to get it fixed. It should not be doing that.
    Ok watched the rest of your video and I am not happy with the response NordicTrack gave you. I would call back and speak with a supervisor. That is not the norm. Either get a replacement or a refund.

      I'm going to contact them again now that the pandemic is cooling down. When I initially contacted them they weren't offering field service because of the risk of the virus. Hopefully now they can offer some help. I still love the treadmill but the fact that it's unuseable over 10MPH is pretty frustrating. Thanks again!

    I bought the NordicTrack X32i Treadmill. I personally love mine even with its flaws. The big screen connects via Bluetooth to my AirPod Pros easily. Weird that the X11i doesn’t. 40 degree incline is an innovative improvement since the 90s and putting the motor in the back of the treadmill. I don’t know any other treadmill company that does that and has the option of a 40 degree incline.
    I do agree the frame can get a bit crazy at high speeds due to the treadmill trying to be easier on the knees when people use the treadmill.

      Glad yours is working out for you! They actually released a firmware update recently that allows bluetooth headphones to be paired to it so I'm glad that was fixed. Unfortunately mine broke down and took months for them to fix. Good luck with yours!

    I have the bigger one (x22i) and they are essentially the same as this one. My machine has been broken on-and-off or about 6 months. I've replaced the controller board 3 times and this last time it almost caught fire! the circuit board started smoking and then it started sparking!... I'm not alone, just Google all of the issues with they're controller board issues. If you didnt buy a warranty you are SCREWED! and they won't give you a refund if it breaks after 30 days... its so insane! something so expensive only has a 30 day return policy. I wouldn't recommend one to a anyone after now being stuck with this machine not working. Also, the machine glitches when you try and modify it and load Netflix and other apps onto the machine. Mine is the newer late 2019/2020 version I bought in March.

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  4 года назад +7

      Sorry to hear that! My story has continued to get worse with this machine as well. The motor controller board died over a month ago. Nordictrack told me it was "backordered" and I still haven't received a new one so my X11i is currently collecting dust and unable to be used. I finally called again and REALLY got in their face about it. They agreed to REPLACE my entire treadmill. So now I have to tear down the one I have and wait for a new one to be delivered... So bizarre! Hopefully they work these issues out soon.

    Glad that I stumbled upon this treadmill. I purchased the 1750 a week or so ago. They are on backorder and sent me an email to say they’d like to offer this upgrade for 200 dollars more because it’s currently in stock. The bouncy deck is exactly what I was afraid of. I’m going to stick with the 1750.....if I ever receive it. I cannot get ahold of ANYONE in customer service about my order. Won’t return my calls. Won’t answer emails. I was able to dm them on Instagram but they just told me to call customer service.......which.....was useless. Not impressed so far that’s for sure. Any updates? Have you heard from the company??

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  4 года назад +4

      My interactions with customer service have been a mixed bag. One person seemed really interested in helping me and even video chatted me about the bouncy deck... but then never followed up on it. I do like the treadmill but the support hasn't been that great and if I were a faster runner that 10mph limit would be really annoying. I'm hoping this video gets to them some how and they finally address the issue 🤷‍♂️ . Thanks for watching!

    I think the shakiness is because the motor is on the back, so there's nothing weighing down the front end: a physics problem the design creates that can't be fixed

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  4 года назад

      I have a similar theory. I work in Mechanical Engineering as my day job and this shaking has really driven me mad! I think it's a combination of the deck being back-weighted like you said but also that the worm gear arrangement in the lifter motor has a great deal of backlash in it so when you bounce off the deck the motor allows the lifter motor shaft to move by +/- 1/2" or so that results in the loud clanging sound. I'm starting to wonder if I found a way to counter weight the front of the deck if it would help? Thanks for watching!

    For me it was between the X32i and the Peloton thread +. I went with the X32i because I didn’t like the fact of using the knob to adjust my speed and having to pay $30+ monthly to use the machine.
    I received my treadmill last Wednesday and installed it the same day but I haven’t had the chance to use it long enough yet. One of the handles is higher than the other by 3/4”. I called Nordictrack and told them and they had me download some app so they can use my camera and see the issue. She made it seem like it was the way I installed the push bar (center bar) because I didn’t leave one side of the bolts loose before putting it on. I told the gal it didn’t matter if was loose or not because I couldn’t get the whole assembly on so I had to put one handle at a time one due to the defect. I told her it’s obvious there’s frame damage somewhere. The box wasn’t damage so it had to come from the factory. When I placed the two long bolts in the right side of the handle it would not go in unless I lifted the handle upwards about an half inch. I also noticed so many small chips and imperfections on the unit. I am missing a half of letter on the decal lol. I thought the unit was refurbished. Eventually I have took everything apart and reinstalled in another room that’s more leveled which did not correct my issue with one side is still higher than the other. I also noticed the left side of the treadmill seems heavier than the right for some reason. Maybe that’s reason for for all the wobbling when running. I can tell from the indent by looking at floor mat.
    But I haven’t experience any slow wifi or lagging of apps. I was able to install Netflix which has Picture In Picture so I can watch a small video while using my controls. Once I start to use the treadmill, I’ll be able to give a better update. I have 8 foot ceilings from the ground and I am 5’9. At one point my head did hit the ceiling 😂 but I was able to adjust myself to give two inches. It’s a nice treadmill but I don’t think it’s worth the price they are asking. It seems more like a $1500 treadmill and there’s obviously some QA issues due to all the defects.
    We are living in hard times with this covid crap so it’s expected for companies to have issues, especially crappy customer service as people are working from home with babies crying in the background while talking to customer service 😂.

    • @ChaseTheSummit

    Here is a comment I copied from a Facebook group on NordicTrack treadmills. "It’s the bracket on the top of the incline jackscrew. I’ve had a tech here twice and it can not be fixed. The bolt is too small for the holes in the bracket. He deemed ours unrepairable and we are supposed to get a new machine. But I’m beginning to believe they are all like this with a design flaw."

    Thanks for this review! It's definitely helping. Your video came up to my suggestions from youtube, and thanks it did, because I was definitely considering getting it because of the incline which I found nice, but in the end, for that price, and when I see you running with the belt moving everywhere, I definitely won't. I was also worried about how high it would go at the max incline (I have a low ceiling basement) and it confirmed me that it would not fit for where I plan to install it. I like your style of explaining the stuff, it's completely user friendly and tells us what it is to use it, which gives a good idea on the thing. My other choice was the Sole Fitness F85 which is compatible with Kinomap and a bit more "open" to other apps and stuff (Zwift) so I know what to do. Thanks again :) And cheers from France!

      Sole F85 gets great reviews and is really well prices and likely much better build than the Nordic Track Commercial. What you're paying for is the fancy large screens with Nordictrack, but otherwise their treadmills are inferior in quality. 2.5" rollers compared to 2.75" on the F85 for starters.

    Well I think Dave is being gracious to NT here. I have this model purchased 2.5 yrs ago. It is a hot mess. Wifi is a constant problem, somedays it finds the network just fine and somedays it think its the middle of nowhere and cant find anything. Ive gone thru 2 motor changes and 3 control board changes. The software is terrible, 1 in 4 workouts are stopped short by a sudden total reboot mid stride. The incline is awesome when it works, but..
    If I had it to do over I would consider buying a quality traditional unit and build an incline platform to put it on.

    The motor sizes are all different between the 11i, 22i, and 33i, more power per larger unit. I wonder if the vibration at the higher speeds is lessened with the larger more powerful motors.

Another reviewer says they updated the software to include blaring music that takes up even more bandwidth and can’t be turned off. Also, I notice the latest models are bragging about having “new Bluetooth Headphone Connectivity” as though we’re living in 2002. Yikes. Xi series are not designed for running at 10mph or more...that is the for the 1750, 2450 or 2950. Motor front vs. motor back. And how long you going to run at 10mph? Then get the running series. If you want the walking hiking trail run...get the Xi series. Also...look on the right side of the console...there is a wired headphone jack (5:08)

    • @TheAdamzboyz
      @TheAdamzboyz 3 года назад

      @@ChaseTheSummit Thats awesome on the pairing. As for the viability for speed and rebound...its a matter of motor placement. If you run at 10+ on the foldable (front motor) you may not get as much bounce on the tread, but the display and your water bottle and devices will be bouncing off/out of the holders. The display on the rear motor units will have more tread bounce (no support in front) but the fact they are not attached to the front display and holders will make it more stable. Give and take...nothing is perfect. Get it up to 40% incline and run at 5mph...you'll be done within 5 mins! lol

    I'm trying to decide between the x22i or the Peloton Tread+ for $1,400 more (although the Peloton's price includes delivery and assembly). The x22i seems to have far better cushioning, which is important to me because I've had bad knees since climbing Mt. Washington 12+ years ago. The aluminum/rubber slats on the Peloton seem more durable, the knobs to adjust the speed/incline on the Peloton seem much more convenient than having to reach out all the way to press the buttons on the NordicTracks, and Peloton's user interface seems to be better/snappier. However, the NordicTrack has better cushioning, is quieter, and comes with 12 months of iFit. Being forced to sign up for $39/month classes if you get a Peloton is sort of a turn-off, but if it's a better system overall, I'd consider it. Peloton's website indicates they have a new model coming out in early 2021, so the other option is to wait and see what they come out with. I've been walking and jogging outside over the summer (on the road around my neighborhood), but it's starting to get cooler out, I'd love the convenience of being able to do cardio without leaving the house, and of course, I like the idea of treadmills being easier on the knees. Thoughts?

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  4 года назад

      I like the idea of the Peleton treads harder surface because it's more realistic to running outdoors but I get where you're coming from. I noted that when I advanced my runs above 9.5 - 10mph that it started shaking violently like yours. It almost made me stumble and fall off. They said it was an issue with the incline sensor and springs. They are sending out parts this week and a tech out at the end of the month to look at and fix the treadmill. I know people probably don’t run that fast typically, but I tend to get up there during HIIT sessions quite often. I’ll let you know if this fixes the problem or if it is still occurring.

    Have the X9i, and just bought the X22i. Like you said, industry tech is very weak, like 5 years behind. NordicTrack is like bait and switch fraud, based on how they advertise versus what you actually get; old tech and very limited, as they show things that set expectations, but in actual function is EXTREMELY crude given today’s tech, or even the most very basic tech that’s been available on smartphones for many years.
    - No Netflix or other apps?
    - No pairing for headphones?
    - Can’t adjust difficulty of video programs - like 20% more difficult if the workout is too easy (or -10% if it’s too difficult)
    - the 10” screen on my X9i from 5 yrs ago purchased shows all iFit videos with bad pixelation??? How can that be?
    - the whole map view is just 30 years old tech… running on treadmill and watching a picture of a street, and after some time the photo advances to a number of feet further down the road??? Really? That’s like the WORST video stutter one could ever imagine. Terrible bait and switch. Who would ever think this feature is what they were expecting when it might be briefly described.
    But that’s the state of treadmills. Feels like that segment of industry is 3rd World.

    I’m not sure that incline trainers are made to go at 10+ mph. They seem to be geared to heavier athletes who want the steep inclines, often while walking because running is too hard on their joints. You’d have been better off with a traditional motor-in the-front treadmill like the NordicTrack 1750 or 2950. It seems you purchased the wrong machine for your athlete profile. I’m not an expert, but serious trail, road, and track runners don’t seem to buy incline trainers.

      Interesting thought, but if it wasn't designed to be used at 10 MPH why does it have the ability to go to 12 MPH? This machine is actually super popular in the trail/ultra running community due to the incline but I'm shocked people still buy it after my experience with it. If it can't handle 10MPH the control knob should only go to 8MPH. From my perspective the machine just has a pretty major design flaw. Thanks for watching!

    Hi, great review. When you design a route on the mapping software, like you did in the video does the gradient adjust automatically to respond to changes in the road/path? Or, do you have to do it yourself?

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  4 года назад +1

      Yup. The treadmill will incline/decline and adjust speed automatically for both courses and the video workouts with coaches. Hope that helps!

      @@ChaseTheSummit What happens if the decline or incline is outside of -6%-40%? I suppose that's rare, but I'm wondering especially as I may just get their commercial treadmills(-3-15%) versus a commercial incline treadmill.

    Hey Chase great video. I'm in Maine and I've been eyeing these things for the same reason. Running up Mt. Washington via street view might have just sold me on one. But the Strava sync issue might be a deal breaker for me. Have you found a work-around for this? Does NordicTrack software allow you do download a gpx file or whatever that you could manually upload to Strava?

    • @JYouker
      @JYouker 4 года назад

      Nevermind, I was able to answer my own question with a google search. For anyone curious, you can download your workout data then manually upload to Strava. A pain, but it's possible at least. www.nordictrack.com/learn/export-ifit-workout-data/

    Are you sure the aggressive up and down vibration of the deck isn't how it should normally function? Maybe that's how their "reflex cushioning" works. Even the Nordictrack promotional videos show some pretty dramatic deck vibration: ruclips.net/video/396eX6ckFG8/видео.html

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  4 года назад +2

      There's a normal amount up to around 9MPH but at 10MPH it's borderline dangerous. The deck travels up and down by several inches making it hard to tell when your foot is going to land. Not only that it becomes REALLY LOUD and the actual treadmill moves across the floor from jumping off the ground. So yeah... if this is the intended design... It's a bad design haha.

  • @Carpupo

    No matter the speed, the stop phenomenon occurs when the slope is over 25%. Is this normal?

    It’s crazy to me the Peloton will link up to headphones and Strava, but it’s a brand new model and it seems like their quality control isn’t quiet there yet. I like the slat over the belt, but i fit seems to be way better and geared towards runners. These are the best two treadmills on the market by far and you have to spend thousands and settle either way. It’s truly annoying! Why can’t one company just get it all right???

    I REALLY wanted that 40% incline because it would simulate a track I used to walk before I moved, and...I KNOW it's stupid, but I'm genuinely sad that every independent reviewer says to beware of this and of NordicTrack in general.
    I've started having knee troubles and was greatly comforted by the extra cushion so I could engage in running and put off having to have any kind of knee surgery.
    Just SO bummed out.

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 года назад +1

      Depends if you can make use of them. I occasionally train for trail races with a lot of elevation gain so having the steep incline is really nice to have during the winter when I'm too much of a baby to go outside. That said, 15% is probably enough for most people! Thanks for watching!

      @@ChaseTheSummit I think I silenced mine, for now. I believe the belt is too loose and that allows the top roller that the belt goes around to be loose and causes it to make that "clanking" noise. I took the side "steps" off and exposed the top roller, once I tightened it and the noise went away, the belt is much tighter now, probably a tight 2.5 inches. The bolts that are used to tightened the belt don't have nuts on them, so I will probably end up getting some to ensure it stays in place longer than it would without them. Anyhow, I don't know if that will help you out, but it did for me.
