    Hey guys! I got it done! 🙏🙌 Thanks for all the help. I just let it get to operating temp and then revved it to 4000rpm. Things seem to be working great! I'm beyond happy right now.

    Excellent, keep throwing comments, for sure they help a lot o people. By the way, I got rid of the broom stick to keep the hood up. I got a pair of strong arm (some say that they have more compression) hood lift struts from ebay, for less than $20.00. Before I installed the new hood struts, I tried a short piece of wood on the side of the strut, which worked fine, and also I used a vise-grip far up on the piston of the strut, very convenient, but nothing better than having a car working how it should. Thanks Jeff Sales for your work.

    I got the harmonic balancer bolt off, how to i get the pulley off? Any tricks or do I need the tool to pull it

    Im cleaning off my old pump and getting ready to install the new one. It's been a job, especially since my hours at work are weird. Im confident my car will run better now too! (The cams were both 8 teeth off, and that completely explains my poor performance.) I bought my car from a law firm. I imagine it got cold outside, they noticed the misfiring, and figured it was time to get rid of it. (The air suspension had gone out on the rear but I replaced that already) They dented the car when they delivered it to me, and they ended up pretty much paying me to take the car from them at the end of the day (They signed an agreement to pay for the damage, before they realized that any roof repair on a ls400 is ridiculously expensive. (You have the chop the top of the car off). I've had the dents on the car since the day I got it. 😂 People ask when I'm gonna move on, but i seriously love these V8 cruisers. They truly are a class of their own. Then they go for a ride and they understand why. My buddy had a vr6 jetta until he rode with me one day. 2 weeks later I saw him pulling up in a pearl white 400 😎

      LexusVIP 400 they definitely are. Just imagine running these things up to 500,000 miles without any issues, and other people wasting their money on upgrading their cars all the time. Savings up the wazoo.

      Jeff Sales exactly!! When i get the chance I'm buying as many Ls400's as possible (Preferably First gen) If i had another 94 to take parts off of, I believe this car will last another 200k at least 😌 (I had a 94 that was wrecked, and I pulled everything off it and took it to the junker. I wish I wouldn't have now! I didnt realize how many more sensors i could've gotten 🙈😌 We live and learn though. Now i now where just about anything of value is on a Ls400 😂

      What's the name of the name of the pulley or gear that puts tension on the timing belt along with the hydraulic tensioner? I think you called it "a extra thingy." My timing was off 2 teeth when I bought it, then jumped again 9 teeth which kept it from cranking. Previous owner replaced the water pump but just the timing belt and that's it. I did replace the plunger but it still jumped.

    I've got 3 weeks to do this, I'm gonna try and do it myself 😅 I've got most mornings free, and i have an old garage manual for our cars to help a bit (and this amazing video) Wish me luck guys, I imagine I'll be replaying this video a lot 😂 (My old mechanic is intimated by Lexus, but my buddies mechanic who has done it charges outrageous prices)

      LexusVIP 400 you can grab a harmonic balancer pulley from a local parts store. If they don't have it, then might have to order it online.

    I'm looking up videos because I noticed my first gen ls was misfiring when I'm up at around 60+ and real bad at 70+ so checked out this video just in case and seems I have everything thing layed out for me. I'm used to working on hondas so hopefully my skills will help me here if the worst thing possible happens and the timing belt snaps.

    Also, when looking at the cams, isn't the one on the driver side the "left cam"... I've seen people putting the belt on opposite the way you guys did. I'm not sure which way to do it! If yours ran fine then I'd assume it's correct

    • @endlesstechandgaming
      @endlesstechandgaming  6 лет назад +1

      LexusVIP 400 I'm sure it doesn't matter which side goes first, just as long as the teeth in each cam lines up with the belt and the crankshaft. The link in the description has more detail about installing the belt.

    • @lexusvip4003
      @lexusvip4003 6 лет назад

      Jeff Sales yeah you're right! As long as the teeth hook in and are set properly it does the exact same thing! I'll check the link out! I've watched this video over 30 times now 😂 It really is helping me!

      I think he means easy and correct way is to install belt is install on passenger side LAST
      This way the slack in belt is being directed to tensioner side of crankshaft gear and belt is being pulled tight on other side of crankshaft gear( the side that is pulling ) when it runs.
      Start on crankshaft and work against rotation. Keep belt tight up to drivers side cam first. Then before putting belt on cam, turn cam. forward one tooth before installing on cam. This gives you slack for easier install . Once belt is around cam pulley turn cam a tooth backwards against rotation to remove slack and align cam marks.
      Next do passenger side cam. Turn cam one tooth direction of rotation ,before installing belt on cam, and install on that cam.
      Then turn cam backwards to tighten tension once on pulley and align marks on cam. Tension still good on belt all the way to crank pulley gear.
      Then install tensioner to remove all leftover slack on the back side of crank gear.

      Technically the belt was put on backwards, left side is drivers side

    Hey guys! So the car was running great! Then i was sitting at a stoplight for about 10 minutes and when I went give it gas everything shut off. (Like it had no spark at all) I've been looking for 2 weeks and come to believe it is the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I put a new one in and nothing. Wiggle the wire and it acts like it wants to start up! (Literally almost caught and fired up!) I then realize the wire is wedged between the engine and the housing for our pulleys! Like it is stuck between the two spaces and torqued down. Would this kill the signal? So my question is, could this cause a no spark, and make my car act like it was getting no signal from the crank sensor? I'm about to take the front off the car and pull it free from being stuck. Would i be better just cutting it and wiring a new wire from the healthy part of the harness to the sensor? So stressed out 😅

      89-94 1uz is non interference, and the 95-00 1uz is interference, hope that answers your question.

    Hey bro, i hope you see this!
    I'm not sure if you can help but here is my problem. I have a 1994 LS400, I'm the 3rd owner had it for 20,000 miles and it has 180k on it now, and I was going to work this morning and less than half a mile from my home, my car goes from 1200rpm where i was cruising, to 1000, 900, 500, 300, 100, and then nothing. I walked it off to the side of the road and hitched a ride to work. I was thinking fuel pump all day long, then I get back to the car and inspect it. The timing belt is ripped on the further away back side of it, leading me to think this is the culprit. It will not start but it will crank all day long. I'm worried that my motor is done for, and then I read that my motor is non interference! Old gear heads are telling me that it's ruined, and my japanese forum friends then say it's fine and the motor is set up to save itself from bending valves in the case of the broken timing belt. (Years 1990 to 1994 only) they tell me I should just buy the parts and try to fix my car. I really love these cars, and i don't want to retire this one. Do you think i ruined my car or do you think I can save it? Is it worth it to find out? Is this job going to be hard for somebody who has only ever changed oil filters, relays, and serpintine belts? Or should i pay somebody, I know a guy who has done a first gen ls400 before. I guess I'm just asking for advice. I'm sorry i wrote a book in your comment section 😅

    • @endlesstechandgaming
      @endlesstechandgaming  6 лет назад +2

      LexusVIP 400 yeah, 89-94 ucf10 are non-interference engines, so you should be able to just put in another timing belt, and you're good to go. 95-00 ucf20 engines are interference, so mine wouldn't be good if the timing belt broke. If you know anyone that can do a timing belt job, get it done with them. Follow this video and the link I posted in the description. Hope this helps. Don't forget to like the video and subscribe!

      Also if you wanna see me and my buddy racing our Ls400's, it's on my page. I own the black one and he owns the white one. I'm definitely going to keep this car and fix it because i honestly havnt driven anything else as smooth. (And i used to own a car dealership 😂)

  • @007BlackGuy
    @007BlackGuy 6 лет назад

    Is your power steering going out or does it whine I notice the residue on your alternator.... these Lexus's are infamous for power steering around higher mileage. My friends selling me his 94 LS 400 with 150k on the odometer he bought a new car and never fixed his old daily IT NEEDS A NEW STARTER And they waited him 1k to change it. I'm going to buy for that amount and change it myself also need to do the timing belt because of the mileage don't want it breaking and we'll let's be honest with these engines you might as well knock it all out while you got it apart. we will see what other problems the car has

    • @endlesstechandgaming
      @endlesstechandgaming  6 лет назад

      I didnt notice any leaks from the pump, even after I sold the car. I'm thinking it's from the engine, rather from the power steering.

    You don't need to do all that jop it's wasting of time money and efforts
    Just drive and let the timing belt till torn and cut by itself you may go to one million mile or more
    What if the timing belt cut... nothing will happen to the engine
