Good video. I’ve been using dog walking services for a few months. I totally understand the idea of using windows of time but it has been a little bit of a struggle for me. I wanted my walker to arrive at 11am but they kept arriving at like 1:30pm and by that time my dog was wayyy too hyper and wouldn’t listen to instructions and was just generally being a menace. I guess I have to start asking for an earlier time window.
I do a mid morning group walk, lunchtime group walk and mid afternoon group walk with a couple of single walks early morning and late afternoon. I made the same mistake of giving exact times when I first started and clients would literally be stood looking at their watches when I arrived. Once I made it more vague and they realised I'm very reliable and will always turn up, they were much more relaxed about the whole thing. 5 years down the line, all of my clients have at least 5 walks per week (some have 2 walks per day so 10 walks per week) so my schedule is the same mon-fri. I do sometimes do evening/weekend walks if my clients need them but I charge 1.5 times my usual rate as I'm giving up my free time to do it.
Just started my business for dog walking about a week and a half ago. I’m 13 and I have 6 dogs that I walk usually, I’m in Australia and I’m loving walking them and this channel has helped a lot. 💙💙
@@rosaliemontemayor7447 i put up lots of flyers around where i live, also i printed out little business cards to give to people at the park, i think that's how i got most of my clients
Again, the information was quite valuable. It relieved stress to hear some of your suggestions. I have been walking the dogs for a couple of years and it’s been a lot of trial and error. Thanks so much for sharing.
Most of my clients like their dog/s walked separately (not in a pack) or with a dog they already know and get along with. Result - more walks, but less multiple-dogs-at-once stress.
I do morning , and afternoons. Weekends and evenings only when the clients ask. With weekends the owners message me the time frames they need and I use that as a guide. It’s very helpful for me.
I have school and all on weekdays thats what i'm stressing about! Does 5:00PM - 7:45PM sound good for weekdays? and 10:00AM - 7:45PM sound good for weekends? then over the summer: 10:00AM - 8:30PM?
Can you make a video for how to deal with weather as a dog walker (with items you recommend)? I live somewhere with a hot and wet climate, but I want to walk dogs. Any suggestions?
Yes, the weather is always a problem! I've only ever been a dog walker in Canada, so I have much more experience in a cold climate than I do in a hot/wet one. I can ask around though! Anyone else seeing this have any experience dealing with this kind of weather??
Just starting here.. have the idea to do 3 to 4 walks a day with 3 to 4 dogs on a walk.. I’m planning just to do my suburb with out a car all in walking distance.. not sure if this work out for me.. there are allot of apartments/ flats in my area and it’s a beachside suburb with many or most homes having a dog so il guess il see
I’m planning 3 slots. 6am and everyone returned by 9am, 11am and everyone returned by 2pm, 4pm and everyone returned by 7pm. Everyone gets at least a 45 minute walk. 2 days per week, will double to four days per week if I can grow my business.
Great video. Please tell me how would you deal with situation where 3 new dogs want book a group walk when they never walked together? Also, if someone book group walk but I'm just started and have only 1 dog so far, what would you tell client? Please answer if you can. Thank you.
This may sound like an odd question, but how do you collect money from your clients? If they are at home and they don't give the money to you, what are you supposed to do? And if they're at work and you never see them, how do you get money from them? - a socially awkward person :0
It depends if you’re used to already walking your 2 dogs at the same time I would personally start with one then work up from there also it varys, you’ll probably only have one client when you start

Great advice it really helped me thank you
Oh this is cool. This answers a lot of my questions, actually.

I'd say that that plan is much better in the long run! Less stress makes it more of a sustainable job over a long period of time
This was a very practical video. I liked it!I have made the mistake of giving people an exact time that I'm going to show up. 😬
Dog Sitter Life I’ve definitely done it a time or 2 as well! Late every time (and then stressing like crazy cuz I’m late 😬)
I got adhd and her video are just amazing and helps me to focus .
Short and effective advices

I wish I can send this video to my clients lol. My 12-2:30 time slot is ridiculous! 🙈
Midday is crazy! And it's always when you're the most hungry too!
You can create a policy and contract stating a window of arriving that they have to sign and email back. Thats what I started doing seemed to help

I schedule things on my email I only take 2-3 dogs a day, because I am still in school, I will try your idea though!!
What's the best journal planner for booking walking appointments?
