I agree. Traditionally, they've always had many talented individuals but have just lacked that cohesion and game plan. The Fijian Drua in Super Rugby has been massive and has addressed that weakness, with well over half of the squad from that team. This is supplemented by the star power of Botia, Tuisova, and Radradra.
Getting to the semis is definitely achievable. What a fantastic moment that will be for world rugby if they do

They've looked great. They have the talent to go a long way, although their biggest challenge will be remaining consistent throughout the tournament. I can't recall Fiji ever really put 5 big performances together, but this is the highest level of professionalism they've ever had. Definitely going to push or punish any opponents mistakes

The Fijians are going into the world cup with a head of steam! I predict Fiji and Australia to advance to quarterfinals. Their game against England was their best in a long time.I think the cherry on top was them having a more than decent goalkicker on Saturday.

This Fiji team has been a subject of curioisty and interest lately with fiji rugby fans because of its composition.
Historically the team was mainly comprsied of European based players with international coaching staff...but this time around the bulk of the team is made up of Super Rugby players with local fijian coaches and so many are curious to see whether there is any difference with the way they play and compete against tier 1 teams.
by the looks of it we are starting to see an impact made given they just beat England...it'll be interesting to see how they do at the RWC.
In my personal view..i see the Fiji team as a sleeping giant in 15s rugby..they have arguably the most naturally gifted players and individual talent pool and other countries like NZ Australia and Japan have recognized that by taking some of them into their squads...but the only obstacle for Fiji is mixing all that talent to create a consistent and formidable side...once they get that sorted out...the rugby world will be inundated by their dominance
Which reminded of the comment made by someone in the local newspaper letters to the editor few years ago on Fiji 15s team's potential..."if Fiji gets it right...they will become the All Blacks on steroids"

It is crazy to take notice at the quick progression Fijian Rugby has had since the Drua have been in Super Rugby. In my opinion, this is only the dawn of Fiji's progression to make it into the top 3 in the next 10 years with all their Super Rugby exposure to All blacks and wallabies player as an addition to their exposure to the european players. Fiji is at a position now where all of their players know how to play against NZ, Aus, and European players from Super Rugby, Top 14, and premiership with the Drua cementing the exposure which will only benefit Fijian rugby the long run.

Old heads said they'd finish 3rd. Romantics said they'd qualify.
Old heads didn't doubt their ability, but said they relied too much on 4-5 players - with Muntz, not SR, the talisman.
Muntz is now out - this is massive, just 3 days out and it may have to be all-change.

The Drua has helped alot stabilizing their cohesion as reflected in that England victory, next challenge would be consistency which should be dealt with accordingly within that two weeks period prior to opening their campaign against Wales.
And yeah the semifinals are realistically the target despite aiming for the last eight first up, and Yato and Volavola are technically on standby as injury cover not too far away knowing that the Flying Fijians already feel at home with half their squad playing in France anyways.

    • @uggy

@@patkuruvakadua4657 Could you explain? Which team are you talking about? In the post above I'm trying to say that by definition you can't become consistent over a two week period without games in it, becasue the definiton (as I relate to it) of consistency is the quality of putting out consistent level performances over a number of matches. If you have zero matches over a period, how can one be consistent over them? Doesn't make sense to me.

Fiji 🇫🇯 Rugby 🏉 has been crying 😢 for a chance to be included in some games with tier 1 teams for exposure. But they were always denied. It alway seem like big names just poach our top players away. We so want our team to come up in world 🏉rugby but we always fall short because of lack of proper training facilities and lack of funding. We thank God for SUPER RUGBY. Now our boys are trained with proper focus, physically mentally spiritualy. The Sky is the limit now for fiji
Sorry I might be biased in saying this, but they are SIMPLY THE BEST

Yeah I totally agree your comments regarding Fiji 2023 WC campaign…..though it has a powerful tight 5 and too quick also on the loose….the Fiji Team still needs not to wait for opportunities that makes them ‘pretenders’ but rather they need to create more opportunities to be top contenders into the qtr final….when Fiji plays against France….they were playing against a team that doesn’t give Fiji try scoring opportunities has noted on the Drua games…it was not there….on the loose …far wide Fiji had no match against the French …why? cause the French lock them out of possessions, they never create gaps for Fijis penetrating attack on the loose….we’re not so formidable out at the flanks….however, true to your comments ..Fiji campaign is a game changer…either at tight or loose, at the line outs or scrums…Fiji is now a thorn in Pool C now….I’d say rather than physical as they always do…Fiji needs to create opportunities more rather than searching …..
