I love Gfriend, but what I don’t like about Kpop is that they expect their main vocalists to sing these incredibly high and strenuous notes. Alto voices are just as beautiful to me💕
It is weird how people fixate on who can sing the highest notes, or who can 'belt'. Singers like Tracy Chapman apparently wouldn't stand a chance in music, using this metric. I suppose it's an easy way for fans to try and ascert that their favourite is better than other singers, which goes along with the endless general comparisons(often very negative, unfortunately) by kpop fans. Aside from music being subjective, all that should really matter is that they sound good - the overwhelming majority of kpop singers are more than capable, when given the right material. A number of singers are held back a lot, as a particular sound is required for the market, which isn't their strong suit. When listening to cover songs etc, they can show far more of their ability. The same thing does happen, to a lesser extent, with rap(in & outside of kpop) I suppose - with how fast someone can rap. Speed can be fun sometimes, but it doesn't really make any difference to how good it sounds. Obviously the video here is just for fun though, not genuinely comparing them based on high notes.
Main vocals are supposed to be the strongest/best vocals of the group. It’s a fact that high notes are more difficult for people to sing, so if someone can do it, that makes them the best singer
@@IH-yw5sp that’s not true at all. High notes are not “the hardest to sing” the difficulty of a note depends on your voice type. But statistically more people have trouble hitting low notes, because of the breath support you need to sustain them.
