@@amymcconnell4233 A single RAM waterblock (2 or 4 stick variant).. The new software is nice but regarding parts and building this is pretty much the same game.
It's a cool game, but overall, it feels like a PCBS 1 DLC... They added the ability to mod a GPU with a water block and they added thermal imaging (which was horribly inaccurate in the beta)... I dunno if it's worth to get the sequel when I already have the original. Because the overclocking, water cooling, adding and removing individual parts and such, it was all in the original. Also, when running Time Spy or the OCCT stress test, you can hit to do other stuff while waiting for your results haha. You don't have to just watch the screen
Yes you can in this one too, all the same shortcuts are there. Clicking individual cables to power on the PC is the worst. Close second is making me unscrew each individual standoff, even when I'm replacing with an identical motherboard.
Jokes aside, getting the LTT desk mat, screwdriver, and water bottles (maybe even stickers?) in the game would be a baller move. Heck make a creator pack and through in Jay, Bitwit, GN, Craft Computing, Paul's Hardware, as well. And if you add raspberry pi builds, you can add Jeff G as well. Great stuff.
5:20 this is called a negative pressure cooling fan set up. It's technically the coolest configuration but it is really dusty and puts more strain on the fans
Holy crap. I am someone who went from being a hobbyist pc builder to running my own pc shop/repair place with a phsyical location, the experience of getting the shop and stuff was perfect! I remember walking into the shop for the first time, it was messy and full of the previous owners stuff but I could see the possibilities, it looked just like what the game shows :O
Congrats! I know a couple local builders that are still running the show from their house. I'm hoping to support them one day so they can get their shop. You builders deserve more respect and customers!
i used to use pcbs1 as a rough idea of what a pc build would look like so i cant wait to play with the second one! Hoping their parts selection is a bit more expansive than the first!
There's LESS parts. And barely anything newer than PCBS1. I guess they'll keep adding parts like they did with the first game, but dropping updates for PCBS1?
I have been through some trouble the past week trying to upgrade my new gaming rig and cleaning my old one in order to sell it. I was replacing my graphics card's thermal paste the other day and put the heatsink back together... when I realized I forgot the plastic square shield that goes around the card's processor (almost cried, lol). But forgetting to apply thermal paste? That's on a whole other level, Jake. Keep these videos coming, they are so much fun!
I remember the first one being janky like a "simulator" game, this is actually really cool. I might actually get this in order to show my friends how to build a PC!
Few things I would love to see 1) a nod to dead artisan builds. A la "I bought this pc from a now out a business builder and need it serviced. It's a pretty artistic build and can only trust it to your established company" 2) LTT screw driver. Even if it's not LTT because of legal or ethical reasons just the model hanging out on the desk or something would be a cool nod. 3) same with the GN mod Mat.
2 things that I totally thought of myself and didn't get from the comments. 1. You need to build a real PC and see how the benchmarks match the game one and 2. This game needs to be in VR
The first pc building simulator was actually super useful to see the size of parts before you buy them in real life like whether your radiator and graphics card will fit in the case you chose since pcpartspicker can’t determine size compatibility.
It can, just not with everything. Basically, it might say that a part won't fit, in which case that's true. But if it doesn't give you a warning, it may or may not actually fit.
There's some qualms I have about this. Firstly, why does this sequel even exist - couldn't they have just enhanced the first version and then put the more significant new features in as DLC (they already have DLC for the first game)? Secondly, what's going to happen to the first game now? This game requires regular updates for new parts otherwise it becomes glaringly more and more obsolete (aka useless) over time. The likelihood is that version 1 will abandoned and left to rot (I suspect it will have to be pulled from sale if that's the case). Thirdly, this game is horrendously exclusive (for the moment) to Epic Games Store! If you go to Steam, you can only buy version 1 of the game, which as I said, will probably be abandoned at some point (most likely time is when version 2 finally joins Steam). This sequel leaves a really bad taste in the mouth - the game devs have taken Epic's big bag of exclusivity cash and released a "new" game that should never have existed and are still selling the original game that is likely to become useless in the near future.
Kind of, kinda not. Depends on your priorities. If the radiator is only cooling your cpu and your only problem temp is your CPU, giving it the coolest possible air while also using the same airflow to cool the rest of the build is a valid strategy. Especially so if there's a secondary intake in the bottom for example and then an exhaust at the top/back. Personally I'd avoid using a radiator as an intake if possible but I also wouldn't want to push the hot air out from front which would in my setup be uncomfortable. I'd rather not roast myself.
Front Intake is fine for temps, if your radiator is in front and you’re using it as exhaust you’ll end up with negative pressure, reducing rad efficiency.
Regardless of whatever happens with LTT/LMG and everything else, I see Linus and Jake being BFFs into eternity. Those two will be walking on beaches, holding hands in their old age 😂💜
Both games copy your current wallpaper. Both games have a radio you can use. Both games have humorous writing. Both games have all the immersion Linus is talking about. Both games have powerups you can purchase/unlock and use in Career and Free Build Modes. These powerups will speed things up for you and connect things for you automatically. I love PCBS 2, but it is SERIOUSLY lacking a comprehensive library of current brands and parts. THEN I played PCBS 1, and found all the things PCBS 2 is missing, besides the brands and parts! In PCBS 1 I have the Fractal Design workspace which lets me walk outside, I get jobs that take me outside my office during the main game, I have 3 workspaces in the main game AND decorations. I find myself playing PCBS 1 a lot more than PCBS 2 as a result. I hope all the things I am enjoying in PCBS 1 make their way to PCBS 2. I do love running the shop and the slightly better graphics of PCBS 2.
A lot of the stuff you were blown away by was in the first game; the pc turning on the table as you move around it, the hardline tube bending, etc. Only thing I’m seeing in this game is a little more in depth thermal paste application. Doesn’t live up to a whole new game in my opinion 🤔
You can now tear down and build water-cooled GPUs, water-cooled RAM, Water cooled motherboards, mini games hidden inside, there's a lot to the new game
PCBS 1 gave me enough confidence to have me build my new PC after being out of the PC building biz for a few decades, then built one for my daughter for twitch streaming....never used AMD CPUs before...highly recommmend

I've played it a bit, and it's a pretty fun game. There aren't as many increases in detail and immersion over the previous game as Linus is suggesting (Case customization is the only big one, but thermal paste, watercooling, and memory overclocking have all gotten a bit better), but that's because the first game was already great in those aspects. The biggest improvements for me have been quality of life features and more aesthetics options. The option to sell your own PCs in the storefront seems cool, but it just seems to be based on the cost of the parts and if you've done some customization, not on performance, which leads to an "optimizing the fun out of the game" situation. It's relatively fun if you can avoid doing that, but money seems a little too easy to get regardless. The tutorials are absolutely terrible, but once you get past them you can multitask, which makes it fun,
This is feels like the extra content the put out when they're off sight filming something unique. Hopefully AMD saw the Intel tour and invited Linus out to see manufacturing of their chips

Every time gives me a full on panic attack because I sent my laptop in for repair for the speaker cracking and popping, and when I got it back, it still kept happening. I got a replacement and it hasn't happened yet, but the video sure kept me on edge from the popping sounds. I did double check it wasn't the laptop by rewinding and watching on a different device lol.
Really enjoyed your reactions. Not sure how I feel about promoting pre-purchasing an unreleased game though. Either way excited to try it out when it is fully released.
I am not sure if I did something wrong. But you start the campaign with this shop which already completely furnished. It seems like there is absolutely nothing you can upgrade. You already got everything. And I missed the missions where you remove the dust. And I missed the shopping! In the first game you had to pay a fee when you wanted stuff the same oder next day. Which makes absolutely sense! But here you can just order and get it immediately. I took a lot of enjoyment from the first game being kind of a "serious" business simlator. I didn´t exerience that in part 2 at all. But of course it is great to have this large variety of parts available. So for a GAME I would still recommend the first part. For fancy stuff and just if you e.g. want to configure your own setup part 2 would be the one.

Just got it and was absolutely blown away by how in-depth it is and the attention to tiny details no one would ever notice
This would be a great tool to use if you were planning to build a PC and want to test part compatibility. Imagine exporting a build from PCPartPicker into this game and being able to rotate around it, test different CPU coolers and cases to make sure the side panel will close, GPU clearance, etc.
Not sure if I would quite trust this game enough to do that, but you make a good point nevertheless.
If this game is that accurate, I actually might be able to finally build my next PC.
Literally one of the reasons I’m considering getting this game.
you should do a follow up where you get 2 teams and someone makes a computer in game and the 2 teams need to make it in real life as close to possible.
That is... That is an amazing idea.
You could do it both ways. Recreate builds from the game irl, recreate builds from real life in the sim, all kinds of different formats... The possiblities are endless, and we would happily watch every second of it.
In the original game, there a things you can buy that let you automatically take out all the screws and other thing for plugging in all the cables.
That's still a thing in this game. It's $2000 and you can afford it within the first month in-game
I could see this actually being a good resource for newbies who want to learn how to build a pc
it already is and if your saying it will be you have never played the first one
@@lizziemcdonald1748 meh idk the first one was kind of okay, I mean they made it free for a period of time for a reason.

Thats what I thought too and figured it would be good to play to get a feel before I build my own PC...only to discover my current PC can't run the game.
could you imagine if the prices in-game were accurate to help new pc builders figure out what to get at a reasonable price
Those are probably business class prices for computer shops, so they don’t really reflect consumer available prices. You bet that the card you buy from microcenter does not cost that much to microcenter.
Think about the educational value this game provides as well. Like, honestly, if I ever wanted to try something new like water cooling, maybe I'd refer to this before even a RUclips guide
Did they really need to make it a whole new game just to allow us to disassemble graphics cards?
And an EGS exclusive one :(
And watercool RAM as well as motherboards, OC RAM properly. New software too like cine bench, wormy and fall guys Inc more updated 3d marks
@@amymcconnell4233 A single RAM waterblock (2 or 4 stick variant).. The new software is nice but regarding parts and building this is pretty much the same game.
yes they did the egs bendover, someone needs to mod the first game to just be a clone of 2
It's a cool game, but overall, it feels like a PCBS 1 DLC...
I will buy it just for the new hardware. All the new cases and stuff. ( I probably did everything in PCBS1 )
Jake, after a few levels you can automate the cable connections…at least you could in the first one.
Also the bit where he said that he scammed a customer. He was just getting reimbursed for the cheap GPU he picked plus the promised labor pay.
Yes you can in this one too, all the same shortcuts are there. Clicking individual cables to power on the PC is the worst. Close second is making me unscrew each individual standoff, even when I'm replacing with an identical motherboard.
The funniest part is that in the most recent update to the game they added LTT stuff.
The game is amazing. I have nearly 1,000 hours on the first game but this one is so much better. It's crazy it's such an insane game

Why raspberry pi builds? I have a server at home with banana pi. But stiil can't see the point.
A GM mod mat would be really sweet in this game. But yeah if they're going to do LTT they should do all the major CCs.
I was expecting Linus to hand his customers their PC, but let go of his hands and dropped them instead.
Finally, a way Linus can build PCs without dropping a thing!
i used to use pcbs1 as a rough idea of what a pc build would look like so i cant wait to play with the second one! Hoping their parts selection is a bit more expansive than the first!
There's LESS parts. And barely anything newer than PCBS1. I guess they'll keep adding parts like they did with the first game, but dropping updates for PCBS1?
If anyone needs to know the original title of the video, it was: I Scammed Customers in Pc Building Simulator 2!
wow a 20 minute ad, couldn't imagine we'd going this low but here we are
I have been through some trouble the past week trying to upgrade my new gaming rig and cleaning my old one in order to sell it.
I wouldn't say "janky", more like arcady.
you guys should totally redo these PCs IRL and compared them to how they looks in the game, maybe a part 2? :D
very good idea
I'm honestly very interested in how the benchmarks of the real versions of these systems measure up to the in-game ones
Great idea, +1, would also check how accurate the simulated 3D Mark scores are 😁
@@Kathlanus ...essentially benchmarking the game by benchmarking setups IRL? Wow.
@@Kathlanusnot accurate at all.
Surprisingly indepth, although the epic exclusivity is a major bummer
That doesn’t really matter it does not change how the game works
Few things I would love to see
1) a nod to dead artisan builds. A la "I bought this pc from a now out a business builder and need it serviced. It's a pretty artistic build and can only trust it to your established company"
2) LTT screw driver.
"Where does the tutorial end and the game start?" is a good motto for life.
It would've been sweet if it wasn't Epic Games
nothing is more heartwarming than father-son game time...
Weird how the pro-consumer Linus is taking a sponsorship from the Ant-Consumer Epic Games
Nothing is anti-consumer about a free store.
But if it doesn't give you a warning, it may or may not actually fit.
lol, I went the other way around using pc partpicker to see if my PCBS builds would work.
This is amazing! I can finally play around with different pc parts to see what parts will look nice for my future pc
Love to see some quality father and son time
If they could import my list from pcpartpicker so I could see what my build will look like before I buy it, that would be a killer feature...
That's common problem with EGS bought games unfortunately :(
EGS is the publisher, lifetime exclusive deal...I'll pass on this one personally. Not a fan of exclusive deals in general.
To be fair you're complaining about what BASICALLY every single company does.
I would love a series with old "famous" LTT employees.
What does this even mean lol
get max and nicky v a new pc for whatever their projects are
If the radiator is on the front of the case I would think you would want to blow that hot air out, not in across all the components you just cooled.
@@datatravelleri I turn around my pc to get hot exhaust during the winter. It feels nice during gaming sessions in cold nights
Regardless of whatever happens with LTT/LMG and everything else, I see Linus and Jake being BFFs into eternity. Those two will be walking on beaches, holding hands in their old age 😂💜
I'm hoping for a Scrapyard Wars mode in these game. I think a career mode or story mode of it would be fantastic.

@5:20 the fans are correct you don’t want to pull heated air from radiator inside the case.
