My MT is from the Philippines professionally trained in Lomi Lomi. She doesn’t oil the table or mess around with draping. But, it’s heavenly. I’m totally addicted.
I had a lomi lomi in Desert Hot Springs CA and it was not exactly like this but it was the best massage I’ve ever had and recommend to all of my massage clients when they travel to Hawaii to try one or desert Hot Springs. Been over 15 years ago and still remember the resort

Great video, great technique. I have tried giving lomi massage. It is harder than it appears. Thankfully my clients have been receptive and forgiving. They thoroughly enjoy receiving it even though I am still a little clumsy with it. I usually perform the lomi as a finishing massage after doing deep tissue in needed areas. They prefer this over traditional Swedish
How’s this work on big breasted woman face up and heavy set people upper and lower draping. It’s wonderful to have someone who is in athletic shape but normally this isn’t so.
When you get into that flow, it honestly becomes effortless in many ways. I always felt better after doing a massage like this than before. The most that I can remember doing was 6 clients in one day, felt as refreshed after the last as I did after the first. It truly is good for the therapist as well.
It looks really nice this massage. Yet, even when I adore massages, I can see myself in a 4 hands massage, I don't know why, perhaps in my mind when I picture it, it feels groping.

I’ve had a Lomi Lomi massage 3 times in 3 different countries. 2/3 did not use a drape to cover my backside, only the front. Of course, the one I had in the USA I was fully draped with a large sheet and only the area that was being worked in was uncovered. Annoying.
There is a reason why draping in the USA exist. It's a professional massage I don't want to see the full crack of your azz while I am working on you. No thank you!
I think it is kind of ridiculous we are not allowed to do the technique properly because of draping restrictions. People are spread eagle when they get waxed, yet a massage therapist can't do this diaper like draping. People's bits are still fully covered.
I was also not a fan of the pre oiled massage table for two main reasons. -The table felt cold and slippery. -As a male, having oil on the table and with the movements of the body during the session it caused me to have an erection from the constant friction when faced down. It was embarrassing when it was time to flip over.
This is not authentic. Lomi Lomi is a fluid dance like massage reminiscent of the ocean wave, the wind and the fire of a volcano (aka the elements of the Hawaiian islands). It is a dance full of compassion and love for the receiver of the massage and always starts with grounding . Your technique lacks footwork and involved too much effleurage with the hands and hands should always be relaxed when using the forearm as you are flexing it otherwise. If you are going to teach or give an ancestral massage from another culture please have the respect to learn it as it is taught.
How pompous of you, perhaps you could upload some training tutorials so we can all learn “properly”. I am sure her clients enjoy it and get benefit which is more important that wailing over ownership of labels. So basically for you to be happy if they had called it relaxing full body massage you wouldn’t be on your soapbox. I hate this kind of snobbery. The outcome for the client is more important than wanging on about cultural appropriation.

I never understood why you should oil the table beforehand, and it doesn't really feel good to lie on an oiled table that isn't really at the right temperature. In addition, the client is then more or less covered with a sheet, which is then absorbed again because the table is oiled. This soaked sheet later lies on the client, which feels horrible. As I said, this whole oiling thing is so stupid because you're working with so much oil right from the start that there wouldn't be any concerns about a lack of oil later when you turn it over. I also never understood this hype about Lomi. I always start with the client covered with a clean sheet. Swing and mobilize it, slowly pull the sheet from your body and oil it with system, understanding and respect. That too is already a ritual. and not oiling just for the sake of oiling. All in all, a loveless and basically disrespectful treatment. Every rebalancing massage has more meaning and depth than such Lomi treatments. sorry.

Dear God! I tried this on my 2m tall male client, totally impossible to slide underneath relaxed and heavier recipient (even though he is slim).
I was thinking the same. Heavier clients and man with lots of hair, it wouldn’t feel like I’d be flowing well. Lots of oil
