- This video, entitled "The All New Roadmaster Family -- A Classic Returns," was part of Buick's 1992 promotional package, which came with an introductory letter and VHS tape. The video introduces the new 1992 Roadmaster Sedan, Limited Sedan and Estate Wagon, along with an overview of the Roadmaster's comfort, performance, and safety highlights.
I wish car companies still made stuff like this.
Yeah I agree! It's too bad they don't!
Bryce Christiaansen just think in about 20yrs todays youth will be saying the same thing
That in a way is true, today there are some great cars still. Like the Charger, the SS, the Caprice PPV, the CT6.
@@markferrell3 Sadly, I don't think this stupid SUV trend is going anywhere for that amount of time 😭
@@markferrell3 I'm 14 and I'm saying this lol
💘Bring back the landyachts💯
Buy a used one they all still work lmao
YaBoiDrake lol
Cheap too
I wish I can live in that era.. it must be so much fun to take a long journey with all family member with roadmaster..
You can do that today if you want to.
@@WhiteSlift Roadmaster wagons are very hard to find nowadays, especially the ones without the woodgrain paneling.
@Burleon I just think the late B body wagons (91-96) look better without the wood. However, the 70s and 80s Buick Estates look awesome with the wood. Those older wagons also have much better looking proportions overall imo, so that might explain things.
I rode in a Colony Park wagon for my first 10 years. All I remember is my siblings and I being bored and saying Are we there yet?
I’ve got a 96 Roadmaster wagon and it’s a damn machine. So underrated as a car. I’m also not believing the 260hp rating on the LT1 but we threw some Impala SS and 1LE Camaro parts on it and its even better. From our experience it’s very polarizing, women hate it but guys are into it. They understand the muscle wagon I guess.
I have a Buick 1992 Roadmaster Estate Wagon like the one shown in this video and it sure lives to it's name. While having nearly 300k miles on it I still can make up to 600 miles on a tank of fuel rather than the 550 miles as stated in this video. Oh how so many people try to buy this lovely car from me. The car rides smother than a Cadillac as well. Just love this car. Thanks for sharing this video. :D
My uncle has a 93 Roadmaster limited and it's about the same as what youve said about your wagon, I don't know why everyone wants a compact car for mpg when these cars get amazing mpg even though they are land yachts
This is a bygone era. Those were smooth riding, comfortable safe family vehicles. The LT1 version of the Roadmaster could be used to haul your family around, take a vacation, go to work, go shopping, pull a boat to the lake and even outrun a Mustang GT 0-60.
sorry to be so off topic but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account?
I was dumb lost my login password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Armando Weston instablaster =)
@Alaric Marvin i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process now.
I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Alaric Marvin it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my account !
@Armando Weston No problem =)
The Roadmaster Estate Wagon of the 90s was the most luxurious ever offered in a regular production wagon. It offered genuine leather seating surfaces. The last wagons before the Roadmaster Estate to offer leather seating surfaces in the full sized segment was the luxury group equipped Ford LTD Country Squire LX and the Mercury Colony Park LS wagons from 1991 on down.
The Buick Road Monster ruled the 90s Interstates!
Things sound badass in the derby’s
I have a '93 driftwood wagon, and I love it! It is such a great car, plenty of room, a smooth ride, and plenty of power. It's probably one of the nicest cars I've driven so far.
it does indeed, master the road! I own a 94 estate wagon, I get compliments on it all the time.
Haha! Love the cat in your buick!
picking up my roadmaster this weekend from a great aunt. Its the same color combo as the estate wagon in this video. It has all service records, 194k and she is lettin me have it for $500...Runs and drives like a champ but needs some cosmetics! cant wait!
You got a better deal than me..I just got a 91 olds custom cruiser but had to pay 900 bucks..its only a 305 but seems fast to me..I just ordered some hot rod satin black and 17 inch MB old school wheels ..once I get it painted I will get the windows tinted dark..some just don't understand...its an oldsmobile custom loser!...I mean cruiser..
Don Vegan
that is still a good buy if it runs and drives good...You cant find em anymore so any price around $1000-2000 seems fair considering rarity. The only NICE ones left are the 94-96 roadmaster-caprice that people are selling for $10k or better. I will stick with my cheapy wagon. I still have mine at my work warehouse in chatt tn I need to go get it and bring it home this weekend. Got a terrible exhaust leak at the manifold I need to fix
Mine had a split in the exhaust almost a foot long..I decided to just cut the cat off and added a glasspack and enough pipe to make it to the rear axle and turned it downward..when I can afford it I will take it to a shop and get it right,,sounds good for a single exhaust..oh and if you have to remove any exhaust bolts from the heads they will come out easy if you get the motor hot first..but you sound like you already know that..hey might as well put some headers on at this point..take care and thanks for the reply
joegolden481 These cars feel like an extension of home.. just comfort and memories.
+Don Vegan yes the bolts came out easy and the gaskets fell to pieces! I got her tuned good, serviced, new kumho ta11 tires and it's now my daily driver! I love it so much I took my 2014 vw and my wife's car and traded for her a 2015 Passat. The rowdy is all I got to. drive now! Love it. New headliner going in next week. I removed all black side molding if anyone needs some
Most awesome wagon I've ever seen
I think the non wagon version is a wannabe DeVille but the wagon is special
My 1992 Roadmaster was built in June of 1991 at the beginning of the 1992 model run. Almost 22 years and still going strong. It still is a great automobile. It is interesting when you need a part for it. If it is a body part then it is a 92 but if you need electrical parts then it is a 91 wagon. GM told me this due to my getting the wrong electrical part (ac control panel) constantly and finally calling them for help. That was also when I learned it was built at the start of the new year run.
I got all misty-eyed watching this... I had a black '92 Limited sedan when I was in my 20s. I never loved a car like I loved that one. I totalled it when I got t-boned by a Taurus doing 45... had I been driving anything smaller I probably wouldn't be here right now. Oddly enough, I now own a Taurus... nice enough car, but It's no Roadmaster. I will own another someday.
I love occasionally re-watching this video! I love my Roadmaster Estate! I'm almost at 200K miles, I also have a few vids on my channel of it! It's been great! If you can find one in decent shape I'd get it! You might need to put some money into it pays off, the build quality, comfort, and performance are exceptional for an American car of the time!
550 miles on a tank?! Holly crispy crap. I've *never* gotten anything like that in my Caprice!
Is that Peter Graves narrating?
My dad bought my mom a 93 it was my favorite childhood automobile! And my dad had a Blazer!
ill always miss the roadmaster
God. This was back when cars were just easy. Plush and cozy. Sophisticated. Not tarted up with an over abundance of technology and gimmicks. I badly miss these days.
My favorite big Buick wagons:
1970 LeSabre Estate with 455
1979 Estate Wagon Limited with 403
1980 Electra Estate Diesel
"This ain't the Road-master." :changes voice tone: "This is the *CAM*-MASTER!"
Omg this one is a classic! Looks so comfortable! Thanks for uploading this video!
I just bought one. A '95 with 24,102 original miles on it that has been garaged it's entire life. My God what car...
This is my second Roadmaster coming from a '96 Town Car that unfortunately lost its battle due to rust issues.
Now that I have owned and driven both, I can say unequivocally that the Roadmaster, pound for pound is the superior car.
the irony is the second gen of these could be easily modified into a 300hp+ murder machine
That's why I bought me a big ol 2010 Lincoln Town Car first year of the remodel second to the last year but still big with a v8 the way we like it! It now turn 48000 miles as of September 2010 I had to spend 450.00 on some routine maintenance I had to have the transmission serviced the radiator flushed and serviced and an oil change to the tune of $450 at Crater Lake Ford but it was worth it every 5 years is not bad at least not for the oil change that gets every 6 months
Yeah I can see that the Buick RoadMaster was Lincoln Town Car’s competition. I wish ford did the thing with the wagons too. But it was only with Taurus. At leaat they kept making their full size sedans up to 2011. Now all of them are 10+ years old at least.
I used to have a Buick Roadmaster wagon and I'll always say it was the best car I ever owned.
very good video
loved it rip peter graves
Шикарная реклама. Аж захотелось по США проехать на Бьюике.
what a proprietary named car.king of the road.
2:55 "... as cozy as the living room", of course, you ARE driving the living room, with a huge closet in the back :)
It should just change the name from Roadmaster to ... RV :)
Great video!
I hear Peter Grave's voice, I recognize him from Airplane! and the Golden Girls.
it's a caprice/impala in a Cadillac fur coat
...and I LOVE IT!
I had a '95 version. I was looking for something more powerful than my '91 Town Car. Always loved full-size, V8-powered, RWD, bench-seated 'murrcan barges (been driving those cars since I was in my 20s) and the 5.7 L powertrain appealed to me. It did indeed get 25 mpg (and even a little bit more) when you stayed around 75-80 on the highway. The LT1 was powerful, sounded great and gave no trouble. In a confusing twist, while handling was better than you'd expect from a barge like that, it did not smooth out road imperfections very well and harshness and vibration came through to a degree that made the ride disappointing. The interior was a dreadful mess of rattly, flimsy plastics, rear seat legroom was laughable for a car of that size and overall fit & finish...oh well. I guess I was spoiled by that Town Car, which was super-smooth, super-quiet and still completely rattle-free even though I ran it well past 150,0000 miles. Unfortunately it was also rather underpowered which made me want for the sort of power the GM full-size cars offered. Too bad I couldn't get the Town Car ride and build quality with a GM Small Block powertrain.
in my opinion this is a proper american car
Joey, have you ever been in a Buick Roadmaster?
We never had those landyatchs in Europe (tho we had some great road cars too), so I don't have memories of it. But I miss the time when cars could have some understated, simple yet elegant looks, instead of trying to one-up each other in aggressiveness-looking like we see with today SUVs.
Why can't we have a modern version of these cars??? They don't have to be sporty - just comfortable sedans for people to enjoy. Not everything needs to be a crossover!!
The Buick Boatmaster- A chevy Caprice with a Buick front and tail lights thrown on. I remember when these came out. Some of the panels were so flimsy and plastic. It was hilarious.
I really want Roadmaster Wagon with towing package 😏😏. Especially with woodgrain and wire wheel trims. Roadmaster is much greater than minavs of all time
how Star Spangled apple pie is this I'm joking I love Buicks
I believe the car in the opening is a 49 Road Master
7:17 soft close trunk? Nice. These are great used cars still ha.
I own one

Yep..and I turbocharged the hell out of it.
Every time 😊
Buick is slept on you ask me........they picked up where Cadillac left off....far as car's go today 9-2-2020
My mother's 1996 Roadmaster had a LOT of mechanical problems but it was fast ! We were glad to get rid of it.
A SW é linda
nice white walls, in 1992!
16 miles per gallon...... drive that in europe !!!!!!! :)
I’d buy a wood paneled golden retriever anus if Peter Graves did the narration.

550 miles?!! Maybe all down hill with a good tailwind
That's highway mileage I get about 400miles off a tank in town highway around 5/600 miles depending how I drive I've heard the same results a few times
@@crosscountrycruising4854 that's impressive
The Buick Roadmaster is a cheap luxury vehicle for the average family that can't afford a Cadillac.
Just a dressed-up Chevy Caprice
I enjoyed Oldsmobile more Buick just don’t do anything for me

I sure hope Americans back then did not resemble these living dolls. OMG... This is what I see in my nightmares about aliens trying to look like people.
Ronald de Rooij Scary ass dreams you got there brother
Station wagons are ugly asf
We (Parallel Productions, Inc.) produced this film. It was shot in and around San Luis Obispo, CA. The VO Narrator is Peter Graves.
Yes Peter graves! I knew it!
+Frank Marra I have to say well done. I never even considered owning this boat until I watched this.
Damn fine job on it
Ah yes... Jim from Mission: Impossible!
Frank Marra Amazing !
Probably the nicest wagon an American car Company ever maid. If you Buick wants us back you need to go back to your ROOTS. Do that and I will be outside your dealership and buy one. Thats a promise.
a high quality, well made V8...no, most new, pretty cars SUCK ASS !!!
you do realize cars today are built super poorly by comparison
John Sabp do you honestly think 99% of modern vehicles have any attractive style at all?? They all look alike and the look is UGLY + PLAIN.
Nowhere near the best looking wagon. The 1955 Special Estate and 1971 Estate wagons were so much better looking. I applaud Buick for taking a plunge and building what was already a niche vehicle by 1991, but they could have made this car look so much better than the ugly upside down bathtub it really is. By the way, I love station wagons.
@@hakeemsd70m Nothing compares to a Vista cruiser, 60's or 70's
People still want big, comfort 6 passenger 4-door luxury sedan
I love these Buick Roadmasters. My grandmother has one and is a real treat to drive when I visit. The car is now 22 years old and drives like new.
"Can you drive this 1992 Buick Roadmaster?
Surely, you can't be serious
I am serious, & don't call me Shirley"
our 95 RMW rides like a dream and has just a little over 128k miles on it. get a lot of compliments and waves when driving it....people love their wagons!
Roadmaster. The Master of Roads.
When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s these, Cadillac and Lincoln was the cars to have. I miss them days, I loved riding in my grandma buick.
keri ellerbe same
Love the Roadmaster Wagon.
These are nearly identical to the Chev Caprice of which I currently have ('93) with 336,500 miles at this writing. My car has never had the original engine and transmission rebuilt -still shifts well and uses no oil -amazes me every time I drive it.
301Pont They use to those Caprice wagons as cabs and small school buses. before being replaced by vans. Sometimes the cab company's would order the zroad Master
The Caprice wagon was definitely better looking than the 91 Buick Estate. The fake Woodie look is horrible.
those good old days, shapeless clothing, siding-clad homes and cars looking properly american yet
Back when real cars could tow
I own one and love it.
General motors v8 engines 1993 models and before are the best cars ever made .. I like Buick roadmaster 1993 and Caprice also ...
Tear's 👍 We can't go back. No matter how much we would like to.
I'm ok with my Electra Estate Wagon, But I won't lie, I'd probably pick one of these up if the opportunity arises.
3:16 - Check out that factory Delco CD player...I guess a few Roadmasters were sold with this option, eh?
I've got a 93 Roadmaster Limited sedan I bought last year with 77,000 original miles for $1700. The interior is a 9.5/10 and looks like a 2-3 year old car. Every single little switch, light, and gadget works. The exterior looks awesome from a distance but the clear coat is peeling in some spots now. I can see why people loved these cars and in the year I've owned it I have gotten more comments on it than any sports car I've owned...although it's always from older guys on their 50s and 60s who either try to buy it from me or tell me about how they had one and still regret selling or trading 20+ years later.
I recently took mine on our family vacation and got mid 20s mpg, floating along the highway on a leather couch at 85mph while barely even pressing the gas. I'm glad there's videos like this on RUclips so I can see how they were marketed backed when new.
This is one of the most relaxing videos on RUclips
I just saw a Roadie wagon today, white with woodgrain vinyl like in the video. I thought those cars were cool when they debuted and I still do today. Oversized and comfortable, yet ready to get down and have some good fun, just like my wife. I miss cars like this.
Is this narrated by Peter Graves?
Yes.
IstvanN1961 bailorg you ever been in a turkish prison? you ever seen a grown man naked?
***** HA HA!...that was one of the funniest parts of the airplane movie!
My '92 base (not Limited) Roadmaster sedan has the 2.56:1 axle ratio & 700R4, enabling 25.575 on the highway! It's a dream on 4 wheels!
Funny how the wagon didn’t look anything like the sedan. The sedan was very distinct from the caprice version but the wagon was basically a caprice with a different grille. I had a 96 Caprice with an LT1 in the day, great car overall, smooth ride. The weak links were the cheap interiors that looked cheap and produced lots of squeaks and rattles. That and the LT1 liked to eat water pumps.
I’m in love been a dream to own one and I just got a custom 91 wagon
2:11 When you drive a roadmaster station wagon you not need a truck for your home moving. Unbelievable much space in the car.
More like Road"trip"master.
Ending production of the Buick Roadmaster, Chevrolet Caprice/Impala SS and the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham was the worst move ever made by General Motors. There are people that can't climb in an SUV or pickup and don't want a small or midsize car. The decision forced funeral homes and law enforcement agencies to go to small cars then to pickups and SUVs. The customer base is still for cars but now the only American cars are sports cars and funny looking small pieces of junk.
One of the best cars I've ever owned right here.
I bought a 94 Roadmaster sedan this year.... I FUCKING LOVE IT. Got the fuzzy dice in the mirror and everything , love the lt1 too
Now my absolute dream wagon would be a 1990 estate wagon with those hon tomb looking rally wheels. Blue with wood paneling. I would pay top dollar!
Honey comb not tomb. Lol
+joegolden481 Id take the 1970 with the 455
Sure sounds like Peter Graves is the narrator.
Is that Peter Graves narrating?
Extremely corny!
Did the sedans ever get the wood treatment or was it just the statiowagons?
Just the wagons.

at 07:19 is that vacumm assist trunk? awesome
pointless but so great
It was a motor, but now that you mention it, Vacuum would have been way cooler. It was cool, as you didnt have to slam the trunk like a jackanape in order for it to latch. Good for the elderly, you just set the trunk down and a tiny click and all done. Course they broke, so more than one of these were spotted with half open trunks.
That's Peter Graves talking.
Who's that? With a name like that, I'd expect his filmography to include shows like Dallas and Charlie's Angels.
He was old time actor on the Mission Impossible TV series back in the 60's and 70's.
"You ever seen a grown man naked ?"
Ever hang out at gymnasiums?
AHHHHHHMAZING
This video has such a fun, whimsical feel to it. Really makes it feel like the reintroduction on the Roadmaster was something special.
It would be more like to you accept this mission of that IMF
