Pak Sha Wan Kwun Yum Festival and Taoist Rituals
The 19th day of the 6th lunar month (Kwun Yum's renunciation day) is the Kwun Yum Festival in Pak Sha Wan village.
From the 15th to the 18th of the 6th lunar month, the Pak Sha Wan Kwun Yum Temple will hold Taoist rituals to celebrate the birthday of Kwun Yum. The temple committee, Taoist priests, and villagers will perform rituals such as worshipping, making offerings, and cremating the Ghost King during these four days.
Floating Boats Ritual
On the 15th of the 6th lunar month this year, the Kwun Yum Temple has also resumed the floating boats ritual, praying for Kwun Yum to bless the local fishermen and visitors for their safety at sea around the Trio Beach area.
Guided Tours and Traditional Culture
This year's Kwun Yum birthday celebration has also invited various guided tour groups, allowing visitors the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the traditional culture in the Pak Sha Wan area.
The Kwun Yum Temple and the Sai Kung District Council's "Vision Sai Kung" have co-organized some activities, where everyone can participate to learn more about the traditional culture of Sai Kung.
Through the above categorization, we can clearly see the various Taoist rituals, traditional activities, and content related to the promotion of traditional culture that the Pak Sha Wan Kwun Yum Temple has held during the Kwun Yum birthday celebration. Participating in the Pak Sha Wan Kwun Yum Festival can help everyone better understand and carry on this unique Hong Kong culture.
