The jalapeno and the onion were charred intentionally. I'm not big on jalapenos just because I prefer other peppers flavors over them so I wouldn't have eaten either but the flavor that had to be in that onion would have had me digging right into it.

Eating the entrees with knife and fork alone isnt the flavor experience that meat, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado grilled onion, etc would have been when combined. Think of tacos. You would do the same when served a fajita plate. All that said, maybe the ingredients would have still been a bummer. 😊
We try to get down to Gatlinburg from WI two to three times a year. We try to always get to new places each time we come. We love a good Mexican restaurant. So, we really appreciate your honest review on this. Kind of like Dawn said, why go again when there are so many good places to eat. That area is an area where as a food establishment, you need to make a good first impression. We will be passing on this one.
I'd go back in a month or so and even go in at a different time and give it another chance. Hopefully next time is better, I know rice is tricky but some onion , tomato , peppers and cilantro mixed just right

I get so tired of being disappointed in food when I eat out. I tend to order and eat the same things at the same Places, for that reason. Seems like if I venture out from my “sure things”, I’m disappointed. It’s too expensive to not be happy! It’s good you’re honest . On to the next one!

Have you ever reviewed Cielito Lindo in Pigeon Forge? It's our favorite Mexican restaurant. My son and I ate there last year in May. We got so much food we could barely finish it and it was really good. Our total bill for everything was about $28. I know it was less than $30. It has been our best bargain for a good, filling dinner that we thoroughly enjoy. The place is kind of a hole in the wall, but the food and price have never let us down. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you do a review. We have eaten there almost every time we are in town for the last 7 or 8 years.
I used to love there but heads up they just got an absolutely AWFUL health inspection recently and it wasn’t for nitpicky things either… it was for major stuff.

Restaurants that have the same owners, but change the name of their restaurant name is usually an indication they were having problems before and it usually shows even under a new name - Be on alert in the future for this.
You should have ask the waitress, if they have a phone number to a local shoe cobbler, because if they do, order another steak and you will call the cobbler to make some shoe soles out of the steaks

I am definitely not a Mexican food kind of guy. In fact, I doubt very much whether I would even go into a Mexican restaurant to be honest. I did go to a Mexican restaurant someplace in Louisiana. I believe it was. I can’t even recall what I had. I was with a group of other folks. My daughter took me to a place locally here in Niagara, which was OK as I recall. Again a long time ago, I’m a meat and potato guy all the way. I definitely wouldn’t go to a Mexican restaurant when I am travelling down to Tennessee area. I’ll be looking for the steaks, prime rib and BBQ and potatoes.

We love El Machete’s near The Knifeworks. If you haven’t tried it, it’s a must. We get the Burrito Mexicana and Loco Pollo, I think. It’s worth the trip from Alabama just for El Machete’s.

I think the doneness is a matter of preference. But this was way too overdone. It looked more like jerky.

Price is high compared to the rest of East TN. Looked a lot like La Caretta/Cancun there in town though. Good review guys.

We ate there a couple of weeks ago. The guacamole is the best. Big chunks of avocado! Everything else was just average.
