Alice says, as you mentioned, The Valya is a little dead and a little alive. In episode 2 Alice says to Magnus, She alive until we know she’s dead, creepy for a child to say about her mom but very schrodinger's cat.

Also Alice said in one of the first episodes “are you a ghost” Alice is aware of both timelines. Also being haunted by the Valya who she may believe is her “mother” which it’s not

Amazing videos you all! I am truly loving the recap episodes. The last episode you guys blew my mind with the connection with "curiosity killed the cat" and The Schrödinger's cat thought experiment!! I'm going to attempt to blow your mind with a theory, the corpse at episode 1 who crashed into the ISS... is the one we heard in the ghost tape .. The Female Russian cosmonaut who died in 1967 ... Is the Valya... and is also Irene Lysenko. Episode 5 blew my mind that i had to re-watch every episode prior and i found that in episode 3. In a conversation where Henry talks to Irene, Irene says she dreams about endlessly circling Earth(hinting about her other self orbiting Earth). And shortly after, Irene tells Henry she's dying of Lymphoma, Henry asks "Are you really dying, Valya?". Now i know Valya means "Strong/Healthy" in Russian however it seems way too coincidental and such a great use of word play if it is Irene as Valya as the one who haunts Alice. And Henry seeing Irene as a corpse a few scenes after seems too perfect! I could be massively wrong though but damnnnn this series is so amazingly confusing and well put together at the same time!

Wow! So I was originally going to wait until the episode before the finale and do a complete rewatch, but now this is making me want to do a rewatch right now! Lol! Great catch!

Valya doesn't mean strong or healthy, it Is short version of Valentina name, that is it.

    There is one apparent glitch.
Jo was speaking to his daughter in a timeline where Lancaster was doing the experiment with Caldera.
That reality is the one to which Jo should have gone back. If so, in that reality Caldera was not the loser he is going to those Comic Com like events on a ship. That part is really odd. Caldera should have been involved in the experiment in both timelines. Thoughts?

I'm a proponent for the "entanglement" theory. The machine is allowing a connection between the two dimensions/worlds, whether it's causing a breach between universes or if it will have detrimental effects on those universes I'm not clear on. It is having a bad effect on the marriage of Magnus & Jo due to the alternate Jo having had an affair, while the other Jo did not. Switching univeres & stepping into another person's drama is quite traumatic. I would be wrecked being called a cheater when I know I didn't cheat & also knowing my alternate me was a cheater & did cheat, that just boggles my mind. I mean how do you bring that up with your therapist???😮😂

This show is great! I am pretty confident that this is going to be one of those shows where you can do a rewatch after the season ends and you will enjoy it even more. The show has been giving lots of little clues from the beginning that, as each new episode drops and gives answers, you can notice a lot more when rewatching previous episodes.
I had thought that Bud and Henry were the same person, just different realities/timelines and the same thing with Irene and Irena. I know that earlier episodes they used “sister” And “brother”, but I don’t think it is literal sister and brother, but just what they call their “other realities”. Like in this episode, one of the Henry\Bud’s leaves a message for his daughter and says “This is your sort of father” so I took it as him contacting his “daughter from a different timeline”. Irena saying her sister was dead is either because her other reality is literally dead or because both have been taking the meds so they are not coming into contact with one another anymore. Henry/Bud says that he hasn’t heard from his brother in a long time probably because one always ends up not taking the meds and they come in contact from time to time. Like what is happening in the last episode.
Also, are we supposed to assume that there are 3 realities/timelines for each of these characters? Especially for Jo and Irena, where there is a timeline where each are alive, one where each are dead and one where they are both dead and alive? I don’t know, this show is confusing, but not in a bad way. I love it lol!

The “CAL” wasn’t in the ice she put it by her legs before her car was searched

When Henry woke up in his apartment, he was mumbling ‘Henry, Henry” - this is because Bud was trying to wake up Henry, then Henry tells him to shut up.
Bud and Henry are different people, but from different realities. The more Bud stops taking lithium, the more interaction Bud and Henry have. “Enough is enough”
I bet that if either Henry or Bud were to take a picture of the message on the mirror, it would not show up in the pic.
Jo was given Lithium from the start because of Irene. The moment Jo said she saw a dead cosmonaut, Irene panicked. The dead cosmonaut is Jo’s reality’s Irene. Henry and Irene had a phone conversation “have you seen your brother..” “have you seen your sister? “I think we both know she’s passed away”. Also Irene has lymphoma, which would be explained by quantum entanglement with her alt-dead-self exposed to radiation in space.
Alice is freaking out while the tape is playing because she CAN hear the voice and it’s the voice of “The Valya”. Alice reveals that she recognizes the voice a bit later when Jo plays the tape next to the CAL.

Alice I think in that moment ( Paul Lancaster being alive) would mean her mother is dead and at leave her with no mother even though this is not the “correct “ mom she still is mom

I think the show is based on quantum physics and the space/time continuum. The human brain is underutilized and not fully understood. It would make sense that traveling into space (outside the natural world) could activate a part of the brain that hadn’t been previously utilized. Once back on earth the duality of the situation sets in and presents as mental illness. Somehow the device activates the human brains ability to perceive different dimensions on earth - that’s why the lithium is used - to mute the brains ability to perceive different dimensions and make sense of them. Just my opinion after 5 episodes.

i just thought i’d mention that some of the stories we’re hearing on the show are apparently based in real events! the story about the russian cosmonauts who saw angels in space is a real, documented thing that actually happened! i love when a “supernatural” show like this weaves in these real events into the narrative, like when the movie Signs used real footage of supposed alien sightings! it just makes the whole thing even creepier hahaha
