  • A new stem cell-based treatment for Type 1 diabetes has been successful in clinical trials.
    The treatment controls blood glucose levels and reduces the need for insulin injections.
    Over a period of many years, there has been increasing progress towards using and manipulating stem cells which come from our body, to produce insulin.
    Professor of Regenerative Medicine, James Shaw, is with TalkTV’S Dr David Bull and Dr Renee Hoenderkamp to discuss the trial’s findings and what they means for the future.
    James Shaw says: “There's a lot of exciting things happening in Type 1 diabetes,” but it “hasn’t gone away.”

    I am 40 with Type 1 Diabetes since 14 years and I dont think I will see a robust solution in my life time. But for those young kids who are struggling today, they would see it in the next 15 years!

    Type 1 diabetes, even when controlled with insulin, is also known as "the slow death" and is life shortening. Never assume it is a minor "inconvenience" that's "controllable", as the long-term consequences are catastrophic.

      This is actually a very negative view
      I’m seeing more and more type one Diabetics living well into their nineties
      Don’t let people say negative things over your life
      With God nothing is impossible
      Eat well and do the Keto diet if possible
      Get off all processed foods No white bread only Keto bread No sugar No flour no potatoes
      You can eat Kumaras
      Almond flour coconut flour and a few others
      Natural sugars only ie monk sugar
      Make your own Keto bread and wraps if possible
      Remember
      Whatever you ask for in prayer believe you have received it
      ❤️There is hope
      Put your hope in Jesus
      He is the way the truth and the life

    This is great, we’ve now nearly cleared the first hurdle to curing type 1 diabetes. This will allow us to reprogram our own cells to produce insulin for us without the need for immunosuppressants. However, the second hurdle still requires us to figure out why our immune system attacked our insulin producing pancreatic cells in the first place.

    What happens with CF patients who have fibrosis of the pancreas. Most of them produce insulin, which is why the pancreas is not removed.

    I was just watching Talktv presented by Peter Cardwell. The discussion is on tax money paid to workers working from home. How can you prove that they are working from home? They might go to Library, parents' home, the friend's home, do shopping, and housework .lots not Covid 19, close down anymore, now they should all go to work and stop behaving like lazy workers.

    After getting covid i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Was on insulin for 6 months then was re diagnosed type 2 (due ro not having the antibodies required for type1) 2 weeks later my blood sugar was in normal range and i am now classed as in remission.

      Did you have the vaccines? My son in law had the same thing, type 1 for a year then type 2 and now all good since a few months ago. He's convinced the jabs caused his pancreas to stop working

    • @philwhatever3903
      @philwhatever3903 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@jackiejackson7587 I got it before the jabs were available. Infact I actually got covid in December 2019. Was diagnosed in March 2020. I told the doctor it wasn’t possible at the hospital and he told me that they had many patients with Covid before it had even hit the news and a few had got type 1 from it.
      I have had both jabs and had no complications from either. When I had covid I nearly died I couldn’t breath it was like a jellyfish in my lungs so the jab is better for me

      but , what happened to type 1 , is it cured?

    • @philwhatever3903
      @philwhatever3903 9 месяцев назад

      @@snchitpawar type 1 is not curable. (Neither is type 2 you can just go into remission) I never had type 1 i was just diagnosed with it.
      Type 1 is an auto immune disease. Which means the bodies own immune system (antibodies) attacks and destroys other parts of the body because it sees them as foreign. In this case the eyelets on the pancreas that create insulin! What the doctor on the video is describing is recreating those eyelets using stem cells in a Petrie dish and reattaching them to the pancreas. Then im guessing some kind of anti rejection medication that stops the body attacking these.
