- Cardell Hayes was sentenced to 25 years, again, for manslaughter in the fatal shooting of ex-Saints star Will Smith.
Hayes faced up to 40 years.
Cardell Hayes was found guilty of manslaughter in the killing of Smith in January, and he was also found not guilty of the attempted manslaughter of Smith's wife, Racquel.

Who is paying for all these legal appeals???? If found guilty AGAIN, that’s money easily earned by appeal lawyers and you still go to jail as you’ve aged more since the crime. Older when released, if ever and money gone!

I always wondered what really caused this tragic event. Because Hayes and Smith knew or were familiar with each other. I read where Hayes had worked security at Saints games.🤔
