- Gary Carter walks off the Mets with a blast off St. Louis favorite Neil Allen in this complete game broadcast from WOR, April 9, 1985. Should I mention that the Cardinals had the last laugh against the Mets later that season as the former claimed the NL East title on a sunny early autumn Saturday afternoon? I shall.
R.I.P. Gary and Tim.
Not just Gary Carter and Tim McCarver, but also other '85 Cardinals including Joaquin Andujar, Bob Forsch, Andy Hassler, Matt Keough, Darrell Porter, and coaches Dave Ricketts, Mike Roarke, and Red Schoendienst, and other '85 Mets including Rusty Staub, and coaches Vern Hoscheit, Bill Robinson, and Mel Stottlemyre.
And now Whitey’s gone.
1:08:27 I can see that Lonnie Smith's base running blunders predates the 1991 World Series.
I'm a Mets fan but how prophetic was Whitey about his team. I also remember when I watched this game how Ozzie Smith being traded soon was almost a foregone conclusion, Considering how 85 turned out I wish he was. (Tommy Herr was out of his mind that year BTW )
One of only two shaky starts for Doc that year
I was there. Upper deck, front row, just to the left of home plate.
Awful cold, the wind was blowing steady off the bay.
I remember watching that game getting home from school
😂
This season went down to the last series against these cardinals!
Lonnie Smith with a baserunning blunder, what a surprise
One name not mentioned, Todd Worrell. The Mets were 1 year away.
Why is there so much garbage on the field?
Fans in the 1980s got away with so much more than they do now.
@@ThisIsWhereYouFindBaseball windy cold day blew a lot of it onto the field
