Great advice Ellen! The minute I saw your white box with the Yay! sticker on it, I knew who it was! :-) I too use Moo! I use their Luxe business cards. They are thick and once you hold one, you'll immediately see and feel the difference. In addition, they allow you to have a different image on one side (printfinity) and keep the info side constant. Whenever I give one to someone, they are like wow this is a nice card, but I think you gave me too many! I'm like, no, it's just one card--a think one! I also reply with, I'm gifting you a miniature piece of one of my artworks and it just happens to have my contact information on the back. They always seem to be really impressed and I'm sure that they are more likely to hold on to them. I highly, highly recommend these cards! As you mentioned, they are not cheap, but with these you definitely get what you pay for! I love the square one that you're using! I'll keep that in mind as a change-up option when I re-order! :-)
I'm not an artist. I'm a counselor and a play therapist. I enjoy your channel because I love art. I use a lot of art in interventions with my clients. I'm just starting my private practice and I'm looking at business cards. Great timing! I love your cards and yes! I'd hang onto those! Thanks for sharing!
I love the newest cards you had made up. Very beautiful and descriptive! I have been hand painting my business cards and my husband's business cards (he is a logging and transportation company!) for many years. Each one is an original, some better than others, but a lot of people really look at them and seem to like and appreciate the effort that goes into them. I can draw/paint them quite quickly. I don't think I will change soon. Maybe not so professional, but I am getting good feedback.
I just started working on my business cards for my embroidery work. I may consider this in the near future. I want to collect your whole set of cards now..:)
Yes! I was going to say, put some art on the back, but you already got it! Hahaha! That is amazing that you can have different designs, though. I'm absolutely going to check that site out! Something you can tell people is that they are collectable. Definitely don't forget to tell them that they are different! Soooo, can I get one of those, girl? Hahahaha!
I'm so glad you like them! My original intention was to include them with every order but that became quite expensive so now I hand these out in person which has been a huge success - it always strikes up a conversation about art without me sounding pushy, lol!
Moo is hands down the best company for business cards. They also make amazing square postcards of similar card stock and I use those as notes for my customers. The square business card is the way to go! I even used the raised spot glass to put some glossy shine on the "wet" aspects of my card design. I too put a piece of my art on the back, but I never thought to use different art for each card. That's brilliant and yours look absolutely stunning. Glad to see you join us!
From a Grafik designers perspective I first of all need to say I’m so glad you changed the font on the new cards! It just makes the readability so much better :) the square is an exciting format that is visually very pleasing imo and the art on the back is 😚👌🏻 the only downside is that these don’t really fit in most wallets… but they’re awesome for putting them with orders 💪🏻 you might also consider making a digital business card with an nfc tag :) there are great tutorials on RUclips how to create these (you only need two of the business cards you already have and an nfc tag sticker to sandwich between them. There are very easy tutorials on RUclips that explain how to put the info you want to share with the card on the tag) I hope that might help a little 💜
These new ones are AMAZING! I can't stress that enough! They even make me excited :D !! When we were little, we used to collect little calendars with different images on them and this reminded me of that time :) Thank you for sharing :)

These are beautiful and so vibrant, I’d definitely keep them! I never thought of the square format but I think it does look better than the traditional rectangle for displaying artwork this way.
I have an idea to add to your great observations .. and wonderful results. I do believe that most artists are too "traditional" when it comes to self promotion .. thinking it is too prideful etc. However, an Artist is a Magician (or WiseOne) skilled in their craft .. and a business card can also have a map on it .. as well as fold in the middle. I'm going to suggest that you think about creating some "educational flash cards" for kids .. that can have words like Opossum, Squirrel, Horse, Bird, .. etc in proportional print .. sell them as an educational package. My mother was a school teacher .. I remember having a set of hand made flash cards that had prints of artist's work on it with details on the back or bottom of the picture. I was seeing Michelangelo's work before I was 5 years old. People who are wanting to teach their children .. need good tools .. and why not use it to advertise yourself at the same time. The cards could be the same size and type as poker cards .. which have some great artwork on them as well. You could also do a series .. with newer ones starting a new category. On the Business Side of the card .. it would be a good amount of room to say all you need to say .. and you are selling your advertisement .. not only giving it away. This is a great subject and more people will benefit from the discussion and sharing of ideas like this. Even if 10 different people doing this same thing .. each one will tweak it to their personality .. and provide a good selection to the public .. the parents and teachers who might want to use them in some day care or other similar facility. Great video .. and I loved your hair .. so nice! 😊💖
@@EllenBrennemanStudio Thanks for your reply .. yes! I'm sure parents and children .. even grandparents would see flashcards with you art on it .. as a very nice thing to use as an educational tool as well as entertaining. The back side of the card where your business contact info would be could also have a little further info .. so that in time as the child grows and is able to read .. they would have a more in depth insight .. you are leaving a legacy .. and what you are doing is helping children think .. because we think in pictures .. not words. A Tree or Animal picture .. explains what the word means. As they continue to look .. over time .. they will have those pictures in their mind .. "YOUR ART" .. your beautiful way of thinking .. so a possum is a darling .. not a fearsome creature with blaring teeth .. but a love-able image. You could have different categories .. like birds and fish .. all very colorful and wonderful. You do nice work .. I like your videos .. I've been subscribed for a while .. but mostly enjoy getting your perspective .. which often well thought out. 😊👍
My dad keeps a photo album with yeaaaars of business cards😂 This is a pretty cool video no one talks about how the business card is pretty crucial to a business. I’m currently designing my own for my stickers that I’m going to sell, v excited abt it. Plus I love your little square business cards! The painting ones might as well be a product!
Olivia, that's so funny! He must be a really organized person :) How cool that you're going to be selling stickers! They are super trending right now and I'm trying out a few on Etsy as well to see if they take off or not. I hope you have GREAT success!
Hi Olivia! How did it turn out for stickers for you? Were they very effective? How big are they? Are they expensive to have made? Do you suggest a company?
I absolutely would hang on to these business cards. It's a mini piece of art. They even have frames that would be perfect to put them as well! These are amazing! I've been making my own and just did a video that I plan to post today. Mine is more Artist Trading Card Handmade type cards but this is an amazing idea and I will be going to Moo when I upgrade from what I am doing now. I would put photos of my art pieces on the back. This is such a great idea! I really do hope you had an uptick in sales from this. Or at least noticed a difference. :) Im a new subbie! Happy to have found you! Your art is gorgeous!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I love these cards and have a hard time letting go of them! LOL I have saved them for customers that have made larger purchases and I do feel it's brought them back to my shop!
Ellen, wow! They’re so stunning ! And ty for sharing all your business lessons for artists. I’d definately want to get a bunch of them and play memory 😀. I only collect businesscards from artist, they’re the best
square shape had me skeptical at first... when i get a business card i am one of the people that keeps them and i have a small folder, but it only holds standard size cards, so i wouldnt initially have known what to do with it. but as soon as i saw the art on the back, i'd figure out a way to hang onto it. probably also ask you for a couple more, cuz then i'd go show them off and probably give the extras away. those are really amazing.
OMG! Those are stunning! I'd keep it and put it on my refrigerator! If you use them at craft shares, I bet you have people pawing through them! I can imagine people would keep them, but does that translate to more sales? I'm curious to see how this pans out!!!!!!!!
I know, aren't these amazing?? Exceeded my expectations by a mile! I have no idea if this will translate to more sales, but honestly, what IS the purpose of a business card? If they are to garner more sales then people have to keep them first, right? But sooo many people that I've talked to just don't. We'll see!
Before you got to the unboxing I was wondering why you were not having your designs on the back. Yes as your customer I would keep it and someplace in sight. My favorite biz card is from a local portrait artist with a repro of “The Prophet”. The image is so memorable ( and its bonus factor is thatt particular piece is owned by The Vatican). So great job, Ellen. Your customers will treasure the newest ones. Addtl comment: the other day I was looking at your website and etsy to see if you offer notecards of your art and if so what their measurements are. I am thinking along the line of a box of cards to be used as Thank You notes or special invitations so these could be about 4 x 6 with your artwork on front and your email, website, and etsy link on the back. ( I found myself making a list of my favorites among your designs e.g, the rainbow grow, the flamingo, the peacock, etc.) Just a thought that would benefit me as a jewelry crafter thanking my clients and offer networking and referrals for you. This type of collaboration is promising.
It is a brilliant idea! Thank you! 🤗🤗 I thought about square cards, but I was afraid, cos they dont't fit to the cardholders. But I haven't got your idea with a different pictures on the back. Thank you for sharing your experience and ideas! 😊 My business cards haven't got pictures in the back, but they are bilateral too. I was focused on my business style and on a unusual paper - so I decided to print them on a heavy paper with a texture resembling watercolor paper. Now I am thinking about my future cards, and about using the qr - code. But I am not sure , that it will be convinient for my clients. I see a lot of qr-codes everywhere, but I don't know people, who are using them to find some information or to open the link. 😅
Hi Ellen, hope you are well 😊 Just wanted to know if you have an update if your business cards have changed anything regarding your sales yet? They are stunning!
What about writing the contact information an website per hand onto the business card? Because I´m not sure yet about my website domain and things can always change
@@EllenBrennemanStudio Love the cards! Best idea I've seen for business cards. A great gift by itself. Thank you for your channel. I've started doing art again after a 34-year hiatus after college. Never intended to sell my art, it just happened naturally. At the point of taking it to the next level and pursuing art full-time. Have listened to every one of your RUclips videos. Love your transparency in sharing your struggles in the beginning and the lessons learned along the way. Have used many of your tips, the latest being Mockup Editor. Game changer! Please keep posting when you can. I regularly watch for new videos.
@@daveandjacci I'm so happy to know that you've found your way back to your art - how exciting! And thank you for such kind words regarding my channel, that means a great deal to me to know that you've found my content helpful - it also encourages me to keep posting!
Wow. I love the final version… what you say makes sense.. I am watching and commenting 3 years later .. so I am curious if you felt the investment was worth it… was this experiment successful?
Actually yes! I did find it was a worthwhile investment. What I ended up doing though, was saving these cards for personal handouts - not including them with orders. They have a much greater impact when I physically give them out because it's like offering someone a free piece of art and they always have something to say about it.
Hi, Dennis! Yes, it did help! Due to the expense of these cards I was a bit more selective on who I sent them to (I saved them for those who placed larger/repeat orders) and received a lot of feedback about them!
Those are BEAUTIFUL! I would keep that if I got one for sure! Ellen, what are the dimensions of the card? Are they 2.5 x 2.5? I hope they've helped increase your sales!
I have noticed an increase in sales! I will say though, due to the Pandemic, it's difficult to say whether that is because more people are shopping online or if it's due to the cards.
@@EllenBrennemanStudio I think it's your RUclips presence also! You are such a pleasure to interact with and to learn from. Your kindness and generosity are as compelling as your artistic talents and the works you produce. When it's all coming from the heart it shows and attracts others. Depth and sincerity are rare qualities. Wishing you continued success, Ellen!
Hi Ellen and Anyone! Now 2 years later, did your new MOO brand cards make a difference for your sales? You are a phenomenal artist with your surreal images and creative use of color and light, world class artistry!! Thanks for a very nice video as I don't know what to do about my card design. I saw Zazzle has some nice looking ones they designed, but forgot to look at their price... I think $27 for 500 comes to mind for the more elaborate ones. So with 200 cards at 45% discount would that mean the regular price would have been around $105? If so that's about 50 cents a card. I'd give those away only when I'm very sure of the recipient. I was thinking of putting them on the coffeehouse tables where I will perform as a musician, but wouldn't be able to at 50 cents a card, although I've been thinking like you do, to have something memorable, a card they would hang onto. I have an email address, a RUclips channel of my music, just started and Instagram site, and a Facebook site. It's funny as I don't know how to find what would be my official Instagram, Facebook, and YT channel addresses. I was told not to use my real name for my YT user name because of hackers. Have you Ellen had any problem using your real name with you YT user name? I want my real name to be my musician name as I don't know what else to do. I'm wondering if I should use my real name with my email address, although I've had that address for about 10 years, but just as a general address as I didn't start pursuing my music until very recently.
Michael, I'm so sorry, I was certain I'd answered this comment but it appears I never did :( I have never had an issue using my real name with my YT username. It is the best (and least confusing) way for people to find me. As for my MOO cards - due to the price of each card, I made the decision to give them only to those I meet in person...not at fairs, but during casual exchanges or if someone specifically asks for one. The impact has been extremely rewarding in those cases because they've generated multiple conversations about my art.
I was actually looking at Moo the other day and thinking about doing the same thing. My question was if it was worth the investment. Would love know if you have any success!
Hi, I've been watching loads of your videos recently. They are great and very helpful, thank you! You have some fanart business cards on here, but I can't find any fanart on etsy or your own website. Have you stopped doing it? Thanks.
Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad my content is useful to you! 😃 And thank you for asking about my fan art. I did have a section of original paintings and prints available but I no longer have them listed online. If you have a request, feel free to connect with me on Etsy and I'll be happy to assist you!
Hi Ellen, I'm a longtime artist, & I've been watching a bunch or your videos to glean info on starting to sell maybe on Ebay or on my Etsy site which I've neglected. Thanks for sharing your experiences & knowledge. I wanted to ask you what you're using when you're just chatting with us...is it your phone or a camera? Thanks, Lesley Paul, Boynton Beach, Florida 🌞

Vistaprint do 500 cards for less than 20 bucks - that's the best bang for your buck you're gonna get. Go to places that compliment your business - I.E you're not the competition, you're offering something that their customers will want but that they don't do - so they can palm off the stuff they don't do, but that the customer wants, onto you - who does want them.. In my case I repair rust & do diagnostics - so every garage on earth, everywhere people who own vehicles go to for help, those are my "Target Market" - the garages/places I go don't do rust or diagnostics (or they might do diagnostics, but they don't like/aren't good at it - they deffo don't do rust...nobody does..) Anyway - forget "handing out" business cards - you want to pin one card to their office wall - it becomes their "We don't do this but they do!" PFO for every customer they can't help - and that customer then rings, because "Their" fave place just advised them to - Morkeshing. It suits them & it suits me. They get to palm customers they can't help off, the customer gets a lead to someone that can actually help & I get new business - Win Win. Ideal. So, for

@@EllenBrennemanStudio Hi Ellen! How did your stickers turn out? Were they real effective? Maybe I'd do that too for my music.
Hi Olivia! How did it turn out for stickers for you? Were they very effective? How big are they? Are they expensive to have made? Do you suggest a company?
Beautiful cards, I’d definitely keep them
Thank you, Alina!
In Russia on backside of biz cards often have cute calendar for the next year.
That's a great idea!
@@EllenBrennemanStudio that is amazing! I'm glad you see some improvement! I can also see why they are hard to let go of! They are fabulous! 💜
Those are gorgeous!! I will be opening my own art business soon, and I will look into Moo for my cards.
Ellen, wow! They’re so stunning ! And ty for sharing all your business lessons for artists.
I’d definately want to get a bunch of them and play memory 😀.
I only collect businesscards from artist, they’re the best
Thank you, and you're very welcome!
square shape had me skeptical at first... when i get a business card i am one of the people that keeps them and i have a small folder, but it only holds standard size cards, so i wouldnt initially have known what to do with it. but as soon as i saw the art on the back, i'd figure out a way to hang onto it. probably also ask you for a couple more, cuz then i'd go show them off and probably give the extras away. those are really amazing.
thank you for your thoughts and comment. Greatly appreciated
We'll see!
Love moo 😁
Ooo Those animals.. So cool. Thanks for all your tips, im trying to get my Etsy shop going currently.
Thank you, and best of luck to you and your Etsy shop!
Thanks, I guess patience and persistence is key!
Ellen these business cards are really beautiful. 👍☀️I would like to have one 😍
Aw, thank you Cloe! ☺️
Thank you for your comment, Diana ☺️
It is a brilliant idea! Thank you! 🤗🤗 I thought about square cards, but I was afraid, cos they dont't fit to the cardholders. But I haven't got your idea with a different pictures on the back. Thank you for sharing your experience and ideas! 😊
My business cards haven't got pictures in the back, but they are bilateral too.
How do you get your art on your card without messing up the pixel design? Like moving from traditional to business card.
I'd be framing them
What about writing the contact information an website per hand onto the business card? Because I´m not sure yet about my website domain and things can always change
How did your business cards work out for you? Didn’t hear the outcome for your sales. Love them!
I haven't handed them all out yet, but I'm receiving feedback from them and have had repeat buyers!
Did this end up helping Ellen?
Thanks for replying. and the offer of further assistance. Very kind.
Update video?
Hi Ellen, I'm a longtime artist, & I've been watching a bunch or your videos to glean info on starting to sell maybe on Ebay or on my Etsy site which I've neglected. Thanks for sharing your experiences & knowledge. I wanted to ask you what you're using when you're just chatting with us...is it your phone or a camera? Thanks, Lesley Paul, Boynton Beach, Florida 🌞
I appreciate your kind words - thank you for your comment! To answer your question, I'm using an IPhone to record my videos on RUclips, and to edit them I use a wonderful app called 'Perfect Video'. VERY user-friendly and inexpensive.
@@EllenBrennemanStudio Thanks so much for replying to my multiple messages! Looking forward to more of your videos & seeing more of Maven. If I get a new puppy, it'll be your fault 😉

Just saying...
Just saying? I'm guessing you are one of those people. I'm glad she has painted one as she has an opportunity to enlighten the ignorant.
Ideal.
