    I just want to say it’s not just seniors that need this kind of yoga. I’m recovering from an injury and I love yoga and I’ve practiced yoga for years…seeing these kinds of videos had been nourishing and supportive.

    I'm 29 but after having long covid for over half a year and not being able to exercise, this is still really helpful to get some basic flexibility back. I can't fully workout yet, other than walking and doing easy, low impact exercises like this

    Nanci this is an effective yoga practice not only for senior but for people sitting during prolonged period in offices, schools or during travel in the airplane. This actually reduces stress and strain in body by different stretching postures with regular deep breathing. Thank you so much for sharing this practice with all and looking forward to the next too. 🌟🌟🌟

    I love Part I and Part 2 of Nanci's Seated Yoga for Seniors. Each is only about 15 minutes and so it makes it easily doable most every day. I am 71 and don't do any other regular exercise so this is great for me! Thanks Nanci, good job!

Please feel free to reach out to me and offer any constructive criticism regarding how I can help the various populations with any kind of disability or injury. This is great for those of us who are now teleworking - When I get a bit of brain fog, I stop and do the streches in my office chair and it gives me a new outlook. I am not very flexible so hoping this will help remedy.

      Exactly why I searched and ended up here. My aunt basically had the rug pulled out from under her as far as physical therapy cancelled which resulted in a nurse no longer coming to help her. Researching how yoga can replace it at least for now.

    I needed chair exercise and then a chair yoga today, short ones. I have chronic pain issues that stem from Osteoarthritis that is widespread thru my body including whole spine, scoliosis and Fibromyalgia to name a few. I wanted to research out of my normal zone of people who I normally use and found this to be nice stretching, however I believe the shoulder stretches were a tad too much but I know to modify from my past career in physical therapy and didn't. Thank you for this yoga stretching! @PsycheTruth

I am 62, a musician, and I've found that as I get older, I need to have more stretching breaks when I'm practicing guitar etc. This has been very helpful, thank you. What company makes the red top you're wearing in this video? It's very pretty and looks real comfortable.

I was so delighted and pleased by your detailed instructions, your choice of positions, and your encouragement to tailor the positions to the individual's abilities. Thank you for starting my Sunday feeling open, loose, and contemplative!...Anastasia

    Love this! Glad I discovered you. I have had hip and knee replacements so chair yoga is perfect as I cannot do any poses lying on the floor. In the pose where the ankle is drawn up on the knee I can only do my right leg, as the left leg has poor ROM due to hip surgery. What is a good way to adapt the pose for my left leg? Thank you so much!

    • @MelissaThompson432
      @MelissaThompson432 4 года назад +1

      It's been a long time since my last yoga class, but what I was taught was that besides being aware of the breathing, you should take time to notice your muscles as you move into a pose and as you hold it. If you can pose the one ankle, notice where you feel the stretch and then for the other side, lift the ankle up along the shin bone as high as it will go, acknowledging the same muscles as the ones you felt stretching on the other side. According to my teacher, the conscious awareness of and appreciation for your muscles causes them to be more flexible, as much as the movement itself does.
      I'm not going to advise you to do this, because I'm not a yogin, but I would probably use my hands on my ankle to position my leg closer to the point where it's supposed to be, remembering to keep the spine open.
      In yoga stretches, it's important to feel the beginning of pain and to stretch to the point just before the pain starts: that's always the therapeutic spot, regardless of the contour of your goal pose. And you hold to the point just before the point of pain, and then relax, regardless of how long you're advised to hold (presuming you're ready to quit before your teacher is, especially.)
      If not THE primary purpose, then at least ONE of the primary purposes of yoga is to increase your awareness of and comfort in your body. I guarantee that if you accomplish that, the rest will follow.

      @nancihaines6909 4 года назад

      Hi Renee! I just noticed this post and your question. If you have a yoga strap or a pretty tight stretchy band, or even a thick scarf, you could probably hook it around your left ankle and just draw the leg up toward the right knee, but not too high. Make sure that you are rotating at the left hip, even if it is only a little bit, and don't let the rotation happen around the knee joint on the left, since the knee is not designed to rotate that way. If this doesn't work, you could do this stretch while lying on the floor. if you have further questions you could follow me on instagram @yogarat46 and send me a message. I could always send you a quick video or picture of some other options.
