It's beautifully ironic how Vueko remembers Juroimoh saying "The goldern city turns even junk into gold" because it is true. Vueko became the gold/treasure to irrumyui, even if she viewed herself as trash.
Wazukyan deserves more credit than he gets, it is never explained just how far ahead or in what clarity he does see, but the happy ending we got is all down to his actions, and whatever this quartet archives in the future is in turn also his archievement. Let me explain. First off, Wazukyan probably does not see clearly the result of all his actions, rather i suspect he has a sense of what strings of fate he has to pluck to archieve a goal or result. Interestingly, he knew of Reg as the "prince" even though he had never met him before, but it was accurate as Reg was the prince to the pincess Faputa. Vueko said Wazukyan was afraid around Reg, that probably has to do with Wazukyan knowing something about Reg, either in past, present or future that is terrifying. So we got that to be excited for.. At any rate, Wazukyan plucked at the strings of fate during this arc in the exact manner to facilitate Faputa joining with the trio. He did the following. 1) He instructed Reg to bring a piece of Faputa into the village. 2) He safeguarded Wueko during the initial confrontation, awaiting Faputa to revcieve Belaf's memories 3) He reinforced the village so that it would not crumble over the villagers, and also created a bridge for the creatures of the 6th layer to cross. 4) He took Vueko down into the bowels of the village Wazukyan's end goal was to have Faputa have closure, allowing her the freedom to journey onwards and not be stuck in the 6th layer. To archieve this he had to have Faputa do her duty, have her be complete with the memories contained in both Belaf and Vueko, but crucially, Vueko could not be alive at the end of it all. A tall task. First, by telling Reg a piece of faputa would cover the cost of nanachi, he both lied and told the truth. It would cover the cost, but it's purpose was never to release nanachi, it's purpose was to initiate the doom of the village by provoking it to respond to the "value that should not exist, forcing Reg's hand into opening the village for Faputa. Once the village was open, he had to keep Vueko alive, so he took her away from harm. She had an essential role that she could only possibly do if events transpired in a specific order. He then kept the villagers from dying from the falling pieces of the village by expending himself, the villagers had to be fed to Faputa to give her the strength she needed to finish off Irumui, and Faputa had to make peace with the villagers themselves through their selfless act of giving themselves to her. Every villager Faputa consumed completed her further, they gave her their value transformed by the village, it quelled Faputa's rage as well as powering her up. He also had to give acccess to the beasts to halt Faputa's progress, giving the proceding events time to take place and spurring the villagers to accept their fate (better to be a part of the princess than be consumed by beasts after all) By taking Vueko with him into the bowels of the village he made it so that Vueko was doomed to die, but could still give Faputa, now aware of her existence closure before dying. Had she not died, Faputa would surely chose to either stay with Vueko or Vueko would join the others, but in so doing it would keep Faputa chained to her past for as long as Vueko lived. She had to be free, as such Vueko had to die after her task was done. In the end, Wazukyan archieved his goals, Faputa was 100% well and truly free of her responsibilites and had complete closure. She was free to journey on with the prince. Surely, in the future Faputa will have a major role to play in the depths of the abyss, a role that will ultimately benefit Wazukyan and possibly every single being whose signals, or souls churn around in the abyss.
I also appreciate Vazukyan, although I wouldn’t say he did nothing wrong or something like that… Some people find him even worse than Bondrewd tho and I totally don’t get it…
What hits it home for me is when Faputa says at the end "To observe, touch, and gather." That was the initial purpose of Gaburoon before he met Faputa 😿.
Juroimoh's all gross because this version of him was created by Irumyuui based on how Vueko remembered and felt about him and what he done to her. That sword of his is what he, well, used on her. Back in episode 1...
Maaa is supposed to be a young girl, which explains her obsession with stuffed dolls and naivety I feel like most people who hate on her assume she's supposed to be some weird old man, which is completely untrue :(
Ngl, I wonder how she even got down there. She doesn't seem like she was from the original Ganja squad but everyone else seemed like they were cave raiders. She also doesn't seem to be an escapee from Bondrewd. I also wonder if she says mama because she's calling for her mama all the time.

Not all of them were organized in the way that modern Orth organizes them, where their skill level and allowed depth are dictated by stuff like colored whistles. Maa could have been part of an idependant delving squad decending into the abyss during Orth's early days, or maybe even before then. A child could have joined simply as part of an explorer's family, or any other reason that could see someone bring a child with them.
@@Procrastinater Or a child born in the abyss, we already know, that if you fall pregnant there is a high risk of the child not being alive, if you ascend. So it seems better to birth it down there and take it with you along the way. Till you find a save spot to stay.

Unlike the regular hollows, they were never human in the first place and is more like the village's cells.

Both songs are worth listening to in their entirety. Yes, Vueko should have lived, IMO, though the author has stated the series won’t really have a happy ending, so maybe it’s just as well.
Can't recommend checking out the OST enough, it's incredible. Said this before - but Kevin Penkin was given full creative freedom. He wanted to include tribal instrumentation, and made sure to hire and consult with indigenous artists to use their sacred instruments respectfully, said he just absolutely couldn't do it, wouldn't do it - if he didn't have that approval. Old Stories, Gravity, Hanezeve, there's legit 40+ more songs and they flow into each other so well. When I get dental work and they use a drill or numbing stuff, I play the OST around when Reg was getting arm cut off - since looking up at the light and people operating on you gives same vibes. It helps my anxiety and obsessive-compulsive dark thoughts that make me squirm more than any actual pain, because it's being compared to something worse and more emotionally impactful.
Hearing Old Stories all throughout that sequence is phenomenal. Everything about this season is crazy. The world-building, the story, music, and even the action. It's so dark and visceral. But it always feel like there's a little light at the end of this tunnel. And Riko is their group's torch throughout this adventure. She's unrelenting in her positivity, it's almost scary. I'm scared, but I'm here for it all. Great reaction, guys. I'm sorry but also glad that you connected to these characters. Like, even Gabuuron. That hulking robot is so wholesome.
That quote at the end is my absolute favourite in the show. I knew Sam would notice lol. And its true too. Life is full of darkness. But why do we live on? To find those rare moments of beauty.
Pakoya was Vueko's partner in the abyss right? So saving her makes sense. Out of everything in the show, they chose to left that bit out ? Vueko having a consensual relationship seems like an important bit of progress in her personal life.
I sincerely wish people from the city of gold (specially Vueko) were given a chance to continue their adventure somehow and try to achieve their dreams... I do understand that there wasn't enough space for it to happen story-wise though.. So many great reactions throughout this rollercoaster ! They reside either within Faputa, but even if they don't, if we believe the basses of the religion formed around the Abyss, souls go on to the bottom of the Abyss, then change form to return to those that wished for them, something along those lines. In one form or another, they were all trapped like a dream or a memory and now are free again. I think its also part of why Wazukyan specifically mentions to the gang to look after Faputa; she is their legacy and likely their new "Golden City", a living vessel with which they can live on and maybe one day reach the bottom through to fulfill that unexplainable longing for more.

I think apart from this show, I've only been sadder watching 'Grave of the fireflies'. Both terribly sad yet stories with a lot of meaning and a lot of beautiful emotions.
And now this is the end of a heartbreaking, epic, fantastic season. And of the Anime so far. It gave me emotions like hardly any other show before. I feel so especially sad for Vueko, this poor woman didn't have hardly any happy day in her whole life and then died this gruesome death in the end 😢 Along with all the other characters we met this season, except Faputa. Can't wait til it finally continues, one of my favorite shows of all time.

Man... this show really knows how punch in the gut and heart with sadness and tragedy. Next to Prushka, Vueko story really broke my heart. Both's stories were so tragic and bittersweet.
Tragic and bittersweet. Vueko was actually still human after all and it's too bad it was proven once the curse was coming into the city. I have odd feelings about this season because we really didn't see much of the 6th level at all. It's like you stepped in the door and just stopped to see one thing. It's also too bad that the creator is very slow with his story so it's gonna be years before another season. Lots of tears this episode. Maa's vanishing was pretty sad for me despite you girls dissing on it. Maa was great in helping protect Riko. The flashback with Gabu was great and if you want to buy one, like I did, there's a plushie of Faputa sleeping in a little ball. I'm sure that Faputa will be around. Wonderful reactions ladies! See you in the next one!
I very like Maaa, I cry for her. She is a pure and lovely character, Maaa just doesn't know her own strength, and likely didn’t mean to squish Meinya, after paying the bill, she follows Riko deep into the village, becomes a shield from monsters, supports her when she is about to fall down, and gently puts on her glasses at the end of her life. If possible, I wanted her to be on the trip after this.
The real messed up thing is that after this episode aired the studio announced that they would be animating more... only there were like 3 chapters beyond what this season covered, and 5 or 6 months between chapter releases. More of this show won't be coming any time soon.
Unfortunately there are only 7 chapter in the manga since the end of season 2, enough to make 2 episode and its been close to 2 years now. We wont probably see season 3 anytime soon sadly 😔

When you inevitably want more - there are two OVAs. One is 'Marulk's day off' - very cute in Orth, runs into Nat, cleaning up the Seeker Camp too. Second is Something 'with Papa' - and is looney tunes style art shift about Prushka in Ido Front being cute. I think it was a panel in manga that had like a bunch of different little side stories implied, which they didn't get time for in Movie3 Then of course listening to OST, and reading the manga.

It's been years at this point and I still listen to the Made in Abyss OST pretty often, like every few weeks I put something from it on.

Yes Pakoya and Vueko was a couple in manga. Knowing that only makes the scene at 14:15 even more sad.

This episode hurts so bad.I didn't like the second season when i first watched it but the more i watch it the deeper it hits....
