Do you think Solo Leveling Episode 2 was everything you wanted?
Yep! Made me invested, can t wait for ep 3
Yup definitely
No , the art style and animation is pretty plain , they are not going a good job , wish a better studio had taken this show
@@anlata9999 ur baiting 100%.
They really should have released EP1 and EP2 at the same time.
Totally agree if episode one and two were meshed into one episode That would be a perfect beginning but it's still does it job
Definitely. A double episode would have been perfect!
Funny how just a few years ago the Golden rule is to expect anime to fully hook audience in "3 episodes".
Now people be needing anime to that in just the first episode.😂
So it's more so a people problem,
@@Snzn_7 That is so true..anime become more popular nowadays..but the toxicity becomes higher also
@@Ryan-fx4hfthey became spoiled from the anime doing movie episodes as their first ep
I don’t understand how people are complaining first episode is boring when there they literally showed us everything. We got in first episode action and pure horror people getting slaughtered. How is that boring?
There was really no need for a 1h episode even tho it would have been been better. But cmon just wait a week for the second episode to form an opinion like bruh. I dont get it.
People nowadays are really spoiled to the point where you need a whole movie to get hooked .
It was nowhere as boring as JJK first eoisode or 90% of Oshi No Kos movie episodee where nothing happens until the end where ai dies. Lmao nah it’s not Solo Levelings issue it’s a peoples issue as some one already said.
My opinion of the ED:
Jin-Woo lives on the 9th floor, and the elevator counts down from 9.
He lives in fear of the phone, because he never knows when the Association will call him to risk his life in a raid.
As for the person watching him on the monitors ... Well, if you know, you know.
Who IS the person in front of the monitors, by the way?
@@AerDun Ashborn ... do you want spoilers?
Ashborn, the Shadow Monarch, King of the Dead. He's been watching Jin-Woo throughout the 6 timelines and has chosen him as the vessel for his power due to the number of times Jin-Woo has been on the verge of death.

@@smittywerbenjaggermanjensen69 While I could be, I don't think so, as the Architect was against using Jin-Woo as a vessel for Ashborn. While fighting the Fang, Frost, and Plague Monarchs, Ashborn tells Jin-Woo "I've been watching you," and shows all the times that Jin-Woo was close to death on dozens of what looks like screens floating in the air. It's also Ashborn who opens the door to let Jin-Woo out, letting him see what's beyond the small world of his room.
What an amazing episode. The guy who directed the op is really amazing. I really hope that he comes back and directs some of the episode later in the season
Episode 2 was terrifyingly awesome!😆
The audio department absolutely COOKED in episode 2. The VA popped off and the sound effects were god tier, especially the blood.
Episode 2 was AMAZING. It was brutal and adapted the struggle so well. I'm a bit worried about it only having 12 episodes but I can't wait to see what's to come. They adapted it amazingly

I watched episode 1 and liked it so much that I went and read the web novel all the way to like chapter 175 or whatever it is. There was no problem with episode 1, there was only so much they could do in the available runtime. People may have liked it more if they dropped both 1 and 2 but it was great
there is only so much what you can put into 1 episode but I guess people dont know the structure of making anime.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought the first episode would have worked better if it was longer and ended right here.
Not every anime can afford a longer premiere so I guess they could have released both episodes together at least.
IMO, the smile would have been the best cliffhanger ending for the 1st episode. I could remember that part and the feelings and dispair it carried with it for years, like I just read it. Thou all in all, the animation and story adaptation to an animated format are honestly an 11/10, and I hope they keep it up throughout the whole season and hopefully more to come. They really did well adapting the feeling of powerlessness and dread with the shot compositions and, honestly, very graphic deaths. I'm feeling an attachment to a show again that was missing for a long time now and that had me drop good anime for no reason other than not getting emotionally attached or interested.
For me it’s an eye opener. Something I’ve always wondered about, why did Jin Woo have such a turn in personality after gaining the system.
I always theorized it was either his stats or ash influence. Turns out that nearly dying can change your mentality forever, answer was simpler than I thought.
Wish the story went more into that though, showing how the change in personality is connected. Maybe have some episode pointing out what he lost from it. MC’s lack of personality is the most boring part of Solo Leveling. The shadow soldiers have more going for them.
there is no lack of personality, hes just a chill guy if you pay attention@@skycastrum5803
I been watching your channel before my daughter was born (she 6 now) when you use to talk about Tokyo ghoul lol good thing I found you again and to see you’re still making videos
Watching this anime blind, have not read any of the source material and I'm quite enjoying it.
It's one of those series where at the end of an episode I want more, like immediately. Give me more, now :D
You make a fantastic point on how anime having longer premiers impacts the initial reception. If you think about it, manga in magazines like shonen jump usually get a longer chapter 1 compared to other chapters. This gives the series more time to introduce the characters and set the scene. Once you've got past the first episode or chapter, you dont have to do that again as the audience now has some basic knowledge about what is going on. Setting up a story from scratch can require a bit more time to get things right.
Feels like with episode 2 I finally watched one whole episode and it still had a cliffhanger lmao this definitely should've been a 1 hour premiere, I hope episode 3 will get me more invested
People nowadays is so impatient af, like last year 3 episode rule was still a thing.
And now people expect what the 3 episode rule is supposed to do ,which is to give people a hook, and have an anime do that task in the first episode.
Like since it this is am action heavy show it us good for the production the extra week it can cook the other episodes. Combining episode 1&2 will deprive the production a extra week to cook other episodes.

You put my thoughts in words perfectly. As someone that hasn’t read the novel or WEBTOON. All I have seen for the past 2 months is solo leveling hype. Mostly on Facebook. I couldn’t get away from it no matter how hard I tried. Even now, the smile got spoiled for me because of the hype that I could not get away from. Finally the first episode comes out. Supposedly a anime that could be one of the greatest. And the first episode was just. Ehh. I never had the thought that I wasn’t going to continue. But I just couldn’t understand what the hype was about. Especially when other anime first episode was 10 times better for me personally this season. Episode two really did do a heck of a lot better. I was happy with it. The two episodes together would have made a bigger impact for someone that had no idea what the story was about like me. And I can see people just watching the first episode and saying nah. This sucks. And never watch anymore. I personally have a three episode rule. But yeah. Hopefully they do the show so many people hyped up Justice. Now stop showing me spoilers on Facebook thumbnails. 😅
Kinda the same for me, except after 2 episodes I still don't see why there is so much hype around it. It's a good show, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't anything mind-blowing for me. Hopefully later episodes will prove the hype.
What problems sometimes chibi gives a voice for the vocal minority... one episode just relax. It's fine
Actually a lot of people disliked episode 1 cause of how boring it was
Mainly from the anime only group
@@ChibiReviews this is an anime adaptation , you have to judge indeed the anime , not the source material , you cannot review episodes that havent been aired yet , if episode 1 was boring or plain then thats what it was , cannot give it 10/10 because i know that the next episodes are going to adapt better chapters of the manwha that you dont even know if are going to be well adapted
@@anlata9999yea I'm worried with that
@@ChibiReviews Many of the anime only group never ever read a manhwa for the most. I do think that Korean manhwa is not done on the same codes than a Japanese manga, and many anime only viewers are confronted to that change of culture etc
it would have broken the internet if ep 1 had ended with that damn smile
i watched the webcomic from first day and tried hard persuading my friend that just watch upto ch10 where this smile is i believe
and he got hooked too
Loved this episode, so far it's a great adaptation and I hope each episode will deliver just like the first two did, that opening was crazy. Solo Leveling is the most hype anime right now and I love it, 2024 will be great for anime
I AGREEE THAT ENDING SONG SLAPSSS. Idk why i could be tweaking, but the rhythm sounds somewhat familiar to other song but idk STILL banger opening 💯
The fact that the end where he gets almost slaughtered by the stone guards is wayyy more brutal than the manhwa has me hyped to see what they will do with other scenes.
I binged the whole manhwa after watching the first episode xD
Fun fact- the reason why the statue smiled after they started doing the riddle.
Was before them noone ever did, so they were the first ones to get that far.. saddly anime didnt include this detail
I feel like an hour special for first episode should be necessary for upcoming anime. That we can instantly get hooked or drop the show. Oshi no ko, demon slayer, and frieren nailed it good.
i'm ready for next episode can't wait for the centipedes to come
finally an anime where I legitimately feel like where I could actually be the protagonist lmao. I would totally die the same way and then regret saving them
I’m convinced A1 Pictures mastered their action animations thanks to SAO and Fate, I’m hype.
combine that with the fact that solo leveling has 6 action directors... and first 2 eps used only 3 out of the 6, imagine the next eps
The pod I'm part of got a screener for the first two episode, which they for some reason put the two episodes as one episode, so I can say, after rewatching them split out... Yes, it would have been better to make it a longer premiere
It was a very good day with this episode. And then Tachiyomi stopped development because of that Korean Company. Now it's a sad day
It's so good so far. Can't wait till the next ep.
I saw both episodes together at a premier last month and called that people wouldn’t be sold on the first episode alone. I been saying the entire time they needed to air these as a pair
has anyone watched these episodes as a new comer to Solo leveling? myself I've read the manga many times and its so damn awesome never gets old reading it the best
I imagine season 1 will end shortly after Igris, which imo is a good stopping point for the season seeing as it takes a major jump after that
Maybe its because I had low expectations for A-1, but I was really surprised and enjoyed the episode one, where they ended it and the anime original scenes.
This is a great episode
The worst thing about this anime so far is that episode 1 and 2 should've been combined or even aired together. Otherwise it has me hooked, while disappointed at only a 12 episode run time
I have never seen or heard of this before I watched episode one. Im already hooked and cant wait for the next episodes. Ive been trying to avoid digging into it some more as that would be a mistake for me. I read Frieren after watching a few episodes as I couldnt help myself. Now I am not as excited as before since I already know what’s coming.
yup, If they did a double length episode (45 mins) like shield hero season 1 there wouldnt have been this issue, the full movie length episode like frieren/oshi no ko had might have been overkill.
Unless there was a few more exposition dump scenes, the one with the hunter association president in episode 1 is anime only if I recall, but it does a good job of introducing us to the world of solo leveling and how hunters and guilds work in this world.
I would’ve loved if the smile was at the end of episode 1 but overall I’ve been satisfied with these two episodes. Later on SL will live or die by how *cool* they can make specific moments. But overall I’m more optimistic than I was originally for sure
Nah it was better reflecting the statues calm demeanor contrasting jinwoo who was freaking out hyper ventilating in between cuts
as someone who has seen nothing of solo leveling besides these two episodes really blew me away even with limited amount of information you get from the first episode, cant wait for episode 3
I mean the iconic scene doesn't actually happen till like chapter 4, you only get a flash of it in chapter 1
I would rather enjoy a couple of boring episodes so that the pacing remains good and detailed than "one minute jinwoo is e rank and the other min he's s rank mess". It's the grinding jinwoo goes through (with a dash of sexy physique) that really pumps up the blood.
They did the smile justice. Majestic and horrifying 😮
I'm not sure a lot of episode 1 was really all that relevant. Like we didn't need all this exposition or background to contextualise the story, since that immediate obfuscation of the world building was what made the original first chapter so impactful. We didn't need some scenes of the S ranks doing random stuff, didn't need anything on ant island, didn't need exposition on mana stones or what not. Some of those characters or concepts could have been introduced naturally, like with jin woo finding a stone himself.
After rewatching both episodes, it looks like episode 1 was intentionally padded out becuase one episode wasn't long enough, but two episodes was too much. It's still not ideal, but I feel like they could have removed all the filler from ep 1 and instead have it end with the scene just before the statue starts to sing, and then have ep 2 simply not end on a cliff hanger, with the system window appearing around the half way mark. The perspective could have then shifted to add some wider context before bringing it back to jin waking up near the end of the episode.
YEah! This is why I give anime atleast 3 episodes a chance to give me an idea what I'm having. If I still don't get satisfied in the 4th, I drop it.
Solo leveling (as anime only), I was already in. Heavy.
and even if it gets 40 min 1st episode, I'd be more happier.
that smile is scary
The man who is watching sung jin woo he is behind everything in the shadows but soon very soon he will reveal himself and that person is spoilers...

I guess its my fault not starting sooner...
I wonder if they will manage to adapt the whole panels full of shadows without using any CGI using only 2d animation, that would be a dream come true.
I really don't want another drama like we had with AoT final season with the CGI titans....

depends of your way of consuming anime and your preferences. If you come in expecting epic moments and fights from the get go, yeah you are going to find it boring. Watched it with some friends that knew nothing about it, and they were actually invested from episode 1. It was enough to get the mystery of the double dungeon in to get them hooked, with the obvious payoff after, in episode 2, the scene revealed more. One of them actually started reading the webcomic out of curiosity.
Frieren ep1 was only 25min long but they did drop the first 3 eps. At once so u do have a point but I enjoyed the 1st ep of solo and I'm a anime only on this series can't wait for ep3
I agree with combining episodes 1 and 2. Two cliffhangers on a brand new series is wild then again. Thats why I like to wait till the end of the season to watch things.
Me, who binge watches anime: it was basically an hour long episode for me 😏
I really hate the haters 😂, they are the people who got disappointed by the manhwa That's what they are about
This episode was awesome. It got me rereading the manwha.
They freaking nailed the statue smile. It made me jump just like in the manwha. 😂😂😂💯
i think people forget how shows focus most of their production in creating certain bangers episodes sacrificing the rest instead of making everything mediocre. And the show doesnt really need banger first episodes since it has the hype from the web comic's popularity.
I'm gonna have to be a hater here, but I will try to just respectfully give my thoughts in a constructive manner. Epsiode 2 did not fix any of my main issues with the series, and actually created several more despite having some good aspects to it. I have only seen 2 episodes, so this in in no way a judgement of the series as a whole as I am still giving it a chance. I have a feeling I am in the minority here, but I have not been very impressed with the plot or especially the characters. At least not yet. The protag seems like a copy of every generic isekai protag I have seen with no defining personality or charactistics (so far, kind of hoping he turns a little jaded from hating the selfish pricks that got him killed to liven up his character). His friend (the girl) just kind of cowered and then had to be saved (cliche, boring, and slightly sexist style female writing), and everyone else just felt like placeholder NPC's.
I also thought it was ridiculous that the party completely fell apart as soon as they realized they were in mortal danger? Like instantly. I get that they are a low level party, but they still fight life and death battles... right? They are mercenaries, even if they are low level. They were acting like the most moronic civilians on the planet and making the worst decisions possible at every turn. It was too exaggerated for me and I could not take it seriously at all. Not to mention the complete idiocy of the party voting to explore the complete unknown in this foreign hellscape. I can ALMOST understand the stupidity of the common mercs, but the leader??? The leader is a clown for leaving that up to a vote from people who barely know anything, and he is also a clown for not having them leave when they found that menacing door. It is in no way beleivable to me, and that is a common reaction I have to watching this series. Disbelief of how brainless all of the characters act, it reduces any immersion I have.
In episode 2, I don't know how anyone who has seen any isekai at all would be "taken by surprise" as you said when instead of the protag dying he clicks a button to ressurect (I assume that's what will happen ep 3, hopefully it's a bit more complex than that). I have seen that at least 100 times at this point, that's not an original idea. It very well might be the most used anime idea of all time at this point. As soon as the protag's party was unfamiliar with the appearance of the dungeon door, I realized that it was very likely that everyone or near everyone besides the protag was going to die there. In a typical narrative the protag would not die and be written out of the stroy episode 2, so that left me with two theories that follow common anime cliches. One, he gets some protag power up and either saves the day or is the only one to survive with said power up. Or two, he also dies and is ressurected like very isekai anime ever made. As things became progressively more grim, I was fully expecting even our protag to die so the ending was no surprise to me. It just left me feeling disappointed that the episode was very predictable and generic.
I will give some compliments to Solo Leveling too since I want to be constructive. The animation is great, first off. Was episode 2 better? Yeah, it had some good moments. The dungeon had a very cool design visually and thematically, and the brutality was pretty well done. I definitely felt a twinge of fear when I saw the statue's face. Even if it felt like a copy paste of the Titan faces from AoT to me, it still effectively creeped me out so I liked it. Massive creepy statues was a very good monster design choice, because how TF do you kill a statue? You don't if you are some ordinary mercenary with basic attacks, you are just fucked since they don't even bleed. It effectively established that there was zero hope of beating them and they were all at the mercy of this hell temple's cryptic rules. The other thing I liked about the anime (idk if this was ep 1 or 2) was the world building of giving a peek at the different guild factions and how it resembled politics which is good future setup. Other than those two things, everything to me was very generic and I had seen it many times in the past. BECAUSE of those things though I have not given up on this show and I see a small glimmer of potential. Anyway, I will continue watching to see where the story goes. My main wish at this point is that the protag becomes less generic and more interesting, because if he does the show could do a complete 180 for me. He is my least favorite part by far at this point.
All I have in mind is that even if they didn't go with the 1 hour approach. A-1 is doing a good job since what happened with the tower of God and the God of high school. Having a manhwa being done good all bat and hopefully keeping it up is what it making this all that much better.
wwhatever happened to the 3 episode rule???
Some series do a doubled timewise episode for a premier. Maybe it would be better to do the same. But anyway source are still going slow until he get his shadows.
I'm just happy to see that A1 actually brought their A game to solo leveling, I was slightly worried when I saw it was A1 because they don't always bring it to every series they make. And so far there hasn't been a Korean series that has managed to get a truely great anime adaptation. Now, The only worry I have left is this is only 12 episodes so how far are they going to get, I think they might be aiming to get to the ant arc but if that's true this is going to be rather fast paced.
Ahh the danmachi with a sprinkle of devil survivor 1 😂 ive seen the hype for a whole week
I actually thought the first ep was gonna end on the statue grin, I feel like that would’ve improved it.
Honestly the episode 1 and 2 deserves to be casted as one prologue episode instead episode 1 and 2
The Attack of the Titan smile in the god statue gives it a thumbs up 👍.
i didnt think ep one was boring but i do wish there was a flash of the smile as the last few frames for ep 1
As a Manhwa reader i am 100% fine w/ episode one, Gets across what it needs to with hunters and gates, shows us a raid from the past so Anime only people get the Gist of what happens when a gate breaks. I think episode one Ended off on a totally fine note considering what was going to happen in episode 2, episode one sets it up so you will want to see what happens next week. If it were an hour long double episode it would have worked better but the first episode was 100% with episode 2 being amazing
More people need to give this anime a chance.
I’d wait for the official announcement but Omniscient readers viewpoint had an anime announcement hopefully it’s legit it apparently came from a pretty reputable source
Is solo leveling manhwa is gonna comeback? Bcs the ending didn't feel right

One thing that i disliked was the inconsistencies of the korean names
In episode 1, they used the characters' original korean names transliterated into japanese
But in episode 2 they decided to switch it completely to kanji names which i just find really strange
Im fine with either but just pick one and stick with it
mashle 2 and wrong way to use healing op are bops for me
Does it though? Because when the player/status menu popped up it literally became a typical isekai with a status/player menu
I read the manwha again after watching the 1st chapter and to be honest and in my opinion, the manwha captures the essence and mystery of the story better so far. It’s been interesting to do far but when reading the manwha I remember feeling curious. Everything is shrouded in mystery and enigma. And I guess it is the same in the anime but I still feel the could’ve done a better job with the music, sounds and overall scenery. I don’t know how to explain it better. It just feels like it isn’t as epic as when I read the manwha.
Anyone hating on the first episode of any anime, tv show, you name it, needs to check themselves. S01E02 was fucking GREAT.
They should have done the 40-1h st episode sheild hero season 1 did it and people loved season 1 too
Wait what the hell is going on nowadays you were supposed to wait at least like 3 episodes now it’s the first? Immediate satisfaction strikes again
True
Interesting how many years we have to wait to see Beru and Young master together?
I can’t believe they put Arise in the OP I hope to see this in Season 1
I don't agree at all, not even a little bit, episode 1 was good, and actually i think it's a good decision to not rush the story, i didn't feel it's slow, it was logical, but i guess i read the web novel and the manhwa so i know the story and i'm not in a rush to experience it
Arise...= Okiru...
I hope it sounds as good as what i imagine
*Okiro
Or we will get the eminence in english treatment that we deserve.
i dont think it fixes anything. The problem with solo leveling is that it repeats, repeats and repeats, 0 story, 0 character development, 0 villains, 0 anything, is the biggest "all we offer is a power fantasy out there" and it does that well the first 50 ish plus chapters, at the ant arc it gets damn well fucking trash.
This was a really good episode man. Anime watcher and it's getting really interesting! The amount of gore it has, that I was not expecting but damn does it make it more impactful.
Also believe that a 45 min premier for new series should be a norm from now on since it really grabs your attention and immersion.
so people are mad that a 25 minute episode was in fact only a 25 minute episode? sounds like a big ol nothing burger of a non issue.
Episode 1 & 2 should have been joint released, like Sasaki & Peeps was...
Episode 2 nearly killed me. Absolutely phenomenal, truly enjoyed it.
What this series needed was great combat scenes/animations and visuals, and sthat's all they need to do to make this a great anime series.
Not really, they did that for God of High school but for the price of cutting out a lot of dialogue and story beats.

I would have episode 1 start with the dungeon, cut the beginning with the island and end it with the smile. episode 2 start with the smile and end it in the beginning of his next dungeon.
Episode 1 should've been a 1 hour special, but given the manwha adaptation have been a kinda hit or miss. Maybe they weren't sure if they should
Episode 1 felt half baked. Episode 2 made with full.
I think the anine is following more the novel route and i heard theyd fix the issues with the webcomics issues with its characters and ending etc
People who labeled the first episode boring are idiots. I got hooked from the first 10 minutes
It's crazy how A1 pictures get away with overworking animators, mfs didn't even take break for few days even with constant delays and seeing this level of animation makes me concerned for animators
it s not really overworking; they have different teams for different productions; at least solo leveling production team said that the production was great, and we can already see from the first eps too; there s literally no dip in quality over the eps; they ll only get better
