Solid advice!
The statement you put out is the main problem we have in the Kenyan motoring industry. Mechanics or do we call them quacks and conmen are ripping people left right and centre.
Know your machine in and out, whether it's a motorbike or a car. We have tonnes of information on the internet and platforms such as youtube. By the time you go to the mechanic, be armed with information and there will be minimal chance of getting ripped off.
I once had Toyota prius (hybrid) back in 2011 and a warning light popped up. I took it to a mechanic ans the kind of things he suggested, I just laughed and took the car home, called a different mechanic and guided them on what to do. The car was back in tune and paid him for labour.
Even those modern machines, learn how they function, at one point, you will need to maintain it and you need some knowledge ans especially in the Kenyan market where mechanic work by guesswork and ability to extort you😂
It is juat plain simple, know your machines and nobody will take advantage of yoy

Is there a school that offers training for basic motorcycle mechanics?
I have not seen any but i can link you with some mechanics who can train you.. you need so.ebosy with good knowledge of bikes to teach you some things

Hi sam , good content Umetuchanua sana . I would like to know , what are your thoughts on putting a bigger block and piston on a small capacity bike . For example putting a 150 cc block on a 125 bike. Any effects and is it advisable to do so ?
It helps increase some power but not so much... but it will improve the engine output.. the problem will be the crankshaft, if it is not a good quality it can get tired real fast.. it will also increase fuel consumption
