As a man in his 30s, who has experienced some of the scenes in this video, I would just like to point out (to my peers, and those younger than me) that the message in the Japanese anime, Vinland Saga teaches a profound definition of masculinity. I do not believe that violence as a retaliation is ever the correct answer, but I certainly believe that it is better to be a trained warrior in a garden, then a gardener in a war.

Masculinity does not mean going to war and serving at the front. I was a soldier, I had shrapnel wounds on the back of my arms and wire cuts on my hands as a souvenir from the razor wires I knitted at the border. I have a knife scar on my shoulder and all the memories of conflicts. These did not make me more masculine but I got problems with sleeping and a little bit ptsd sometimes. War is not good, you do not care about dêaťh after a while but you think about your family
